Wonder Returns to Galveston - November 6, 2015

I "remember" you as well! :goodvibes The only meet we made it to was the cabin tour, but I enjoyed your trip report! Especially Key "Wet" - boy what a day. :rotfl: We were at Kermit's finishing our frozen key lime pie dipped in chocolate on a stick when the torrential downpour started. Wading back to the shuttle to the ship was quite an adventure! I'm not sure I've ever been that wet before. :lmao: It's so cool we both selected this as our first BTB! What a great itinerary, I'm surprised others aren't jumping onboard. ;) My only regret is that we're not going back to WDW, I wish they would trade Nassau for WDW!

Yes!! The crazy rain-out in Key West. It was "awful" for us to have to wait it out at Hogs Breath Saloon ;-). Our friends got soaked all the way through though, they were like you and drowned rats headed back to the ship!! WDW instead of Nassau would be awesome, especially as WDW will be somewhat low crowds at that time of year. We probably won't get off the ship in Nassau. We are mulling over a private snorkeling excursion as we haven't done anything like that there yet. The temperatures at that time of year may be a little bit chilly is the only thing.

Having two separate itineraries made it a perfect B2B opportunity and I've always dreamed of doing one. Two weeks onboard just seems like a dream vacation. No grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, or laundry (because I already told DH that I am sending out clothes to be cleaned! LOL) for two weeks!! That's crazy talk!! :-)

:thumbsup2 That's not crazy - vacation and laundry is crazy. ;) I just factor the money in the budget. Definitely the way to go!

We got about half way back to the ship during the Key West downpour and we all got a case of the giggles, it was just so unbelievable. At one point we could barely wade, we were laughing so much!

When we booked the 2013 it was a Western Caribbean and they changed it, so I'm holding out hope they decide to send us to WDW so we'll spend money in their parks rather than in Nassau. ;)

Hi! I'm so glad a thread has been started for our cruise!

Me, my husband and our daughter will be cruising with you guys! We originally were hoping for the rumored 14 night Hawaiian cruise out of San Diego, since it would be a five hour drive for us, but since they didn't release that, we saw Galveston and booked it the day it was released!

Our very first cruise was October 2013 on the Wonder out of Galveston, on the Key West/Nassau/CC itinerary. We went over Halloween and I loved meeting up with so many other DISers! We had so much fun! We fell in love with cruising, and wish we could get back on a ship sooner. Also, I was pregnant on that cruise, and now I'm holding my five week old as I type this. :goodvibes She will be 18 months when we cruise.

Also, last week, we talked my in-laws into coming with us on the cruise (not that they needed much other than an invitation) So we will have plenty of help for our sure to be very active baby! And it will be their first Disney Cruise!

I think it is so cool that some of you are going BTB! How fun to see all the different ports. And totally jealous that you'll go to Castaway Cay!

I'm off to reques to join the FB group - Let the countdown begin!
:welcome: I was hoping for the Hawaii again also, we did the first one in 2012, but alas they decided to do one way's. But it's all good, because we're very excited about this itinerary!

Ukintheus - I sent you an email about joining the fish extender group for this cruise (Wonder 6, 2015), but am not sure you got it, can you confirm for me. Thanks Tina

Hi :wave2: and welcome. I may be wrong, but based on the first page of posts, I think Ndemitras is doing the FE organization.

We've done a similar itinerary (Montego Bay instead of Falmouth) on RCI and it makes for a nice week.
!
:welcome: We've haven't been to any of these ports, so any tips or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Welcome! :cheer2: We were on the Wonder last September and they had a night to celebrate Halloween - it was a lot of fun, I bet it was even better to actually sail over Halloween! :cheer2: How nice to have a built in babysitter to help out with your little one :thumbsup2, I just know your in laws will love it.

Ukintheus - I sent you an email about joining the fish extender group for this cruise (Wonder 6, 2015), but am not sure you got it, can you confirm for me. Thanks Tina

Tina - I know you have already figured out that I'm not doing the FE, but welcome to the group, hopefully you will be added here shortly. We have plenty of time to get everything straight though. :goodvibes

We are booked on this as well. So excited to be able to driver to the port and sail DCL (these itineraries were released right as we started contemplating canceling our non-DCL thanksgiving cruise this year due to outrageous airfare - perfect timing :thumbsup2). We've done a similar itinerary (Montego Bay instead of Falmouth) on RCI and it makes for a nice week.

We are myself, DH and our two girls (ODD will be 4 and YDD will be 22 months). We sailed the Dream this past September and ODD still talks about the Mickey boat a lot - we told her we can go back when she's four. We were very pleased with the nursery on the Dream, but she preferred the open house activities at the club, I'm sure she will be over the moon at the activities and character interaction stuff in the "big" kids club.

I'll join the Facebook group, too!

Welcome pixiedust: Glad to see that someone has some experience with Jamaica, even if it was a different port. I agree that driving to Galveston makes things SO much easier than juggling luggage, air transport etc with flying to Florida.

Thank you - this will be our first Disney cruise and the first cruise for our grandson he will be three and from what we can see he will love it, we will too. I think I have a pretty good idea of the fe experience just not sure how many staterooms on average just to get a ball park budget and supply list in mind I know we won't finalize anything until much much closer I think I read September 2015 somewhere.

It's different for every cruise, and it really depends on the organizer. Typically my experience has been if a group starts to get large, the organizer may break things into groups (like 20 cabins), and for people wanting to particpate in larger numbers (up to everyone) are placed in multiple groups. On my last cruise though, those of us that wanted to exchange with a large group/all were placed in a tiny group of 13 cabins and told the other groups would not exchange with us, because they were at the size they requested, but we were free to give to them. So it really depends on the organizer.

I haven't quite decided if I'm going to participate in the FE this time. We've always really enjoyed it so we probably will. I hadn't seen anything about September, is there other information not posted here, that may help me decide?

Sharing what we did last cruise, for over 3. We gave little stuffed Mickeys for 3 and under. :) http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=51693895&postcount=1467

Thanks for the great info. No I don't think it was for our fe, just one I read about and assumed it would be somewhat simular. Cutest fe giveaways. ;)

I don't think any specifics have been posted yet for this cruise either here, or on FB. Good info from Mousseaumob though. We have participated in the FE a couple of times but don't think we will this time, we shall see. :-)

Hi i havent book this cruise but most likely will. this would be our 3rd disney cruise. :grouphug:

Let us know when you finally pull the trigger. I don't think the prices will change much through the rest of the year. The holiday cruises out of Galveston have already increased in price, but they sold really well last time they were here too.

Just trying to keep both groups up to date, so here is the information on the FE sign up, this is taken from FB and was posted on Monday :):

We are almost under 500 days!! I don't know about you but I am excited and it seems like an eternity away! I have gotten everyone's emails for fish extenders. I plan on send out a list once we officially hit 20 cabins.....slowly but surely we will get there! Happy Monday everyone!
