I’m seeing reports that the Wonder is having propulsion issues and will return to Vancouver missing Ketchikan. DCL offering $150 stateroom credit and 20% off future cruise.

Anyone onboard have any more information?

A friend of mine is onboard right now (she's also one of the people that posted on the book of faces) but that is about all they know right now. She says they seem to be moving at a good clip so should be in Vancouver on time or early Monday morning but just not enough time to do the Ketchikan stop. I feel sorry for the people that are sailing this coming Monday, it's so up in the air right now. And of course I am now even MORE anxious for our cruise that leaves the following week :(

We’re on our way to Vancouver now for the cruise on Monday.

Interesting enough, the Westerdam of Holland America is also in Alaska and has propulsion problems. They too are cruising back to the home port at a slower pace.

Maybe it's some Russian threat we don't know about and they don't want to freak everyone out. 🕵‍

Wonder had those issues on our Western Caribbean some years ago and we missed a port. That discount was how we could afford our Greek Isles we just took. Make sure u get a placeholder ressie. They let us stack that with the 20%. It rocked

Been nervous about this possibility. True story.
I really don't think that you need to be worried about the Russians messing with cruise ships near Alaska. They have more important things to do.

Might be bad fuel since two ships have the same problem. The international Maritime Organization started implementing a 0.5% cap on sulfer in marine fuels in 2020. I think older ships have to make an allowance for the new 'blend'.

We are to sail the 18th, will DCL cancel to make repairs or sail in limp mode. 1st it was waiting on the Covid test two days before. Now if we are going to sail and change the itinerary to what?

Let’s say Disney needed an extra day at port for the Wonder repair. I think they would have everyone load as planned, but, leaving late(I totally expect that still). Maybe even the next day.

Or maybe day or more delay for boarding because of electrical issues that would interfere with day-to-day operations with a option for refund or 20% discount on future sailings if they still sailed on that date.

Say for example they worked on it for 24 hours and were able to takeoff at 6 AM the next morning. They would probably have the sale off party at the normal time and try to sneak out noisily in the morning.

Although if they have to use a different port for the repair I don’t see anybody getting on.

Just got off the Wonder! Great time even though we skipped Ketchikan. What many people were hoping for was the 20% would be able to be added to the FCC and all were told flat out it’s not allowed. 🙁

It's worth trying anyway. They've let some folks do it before.

Let’s say Disney needed an extra day at port for the Magic repair. I think they would have everyone load as planned, but, leaving late(I totally expect that still). Maybe even the next day.
This is the Wonder, not the Magic.

The lastest update is that they need a few more hours to work on it so the Wonder will not be leaving until around 9pm tonight (subject to change again). This came from someone in my cruise group who is the parent of one of the entertainment CM's on board the Wonder right now.
