Hello cruise pros. Questions:

How much do the snacks (candy, popcorn, etc) cost at the Prelude snack bar on the Wonder Cruise?

Is there a great variety of snacks to choose from?

Thanks.

I wasn't impressed with the snacks... there was the standard Disney Parks packaged cookies, rice krispie treats and cheese popcorn... other things like chocolate malt balls and the like. I didn't bring snacks from home but next time I will- I just wanted my peanut m&m's and there was none of that kind of thing around.
I'll admit... :guilty:I knew there wasn't the best selection for CANDY- but I thought what was there would be good enough. It wasn't :sad1:

Thank you for the info. I’m picturing Prelude as a small version of the candy shop on Mainstreet, DL. Prepackaged Disney snacks with a large price tag. Good snacks, but not movie type snacks. Would that be accurate?

Kind of like that... not too much chocolate that I saw...

But but but...is there popcorn? Fresh popcorn? I can already hear the whining if there isn't fresh popcorn to go with the movie! (not from me of course, never from me! - I'm more of a chocolate girl!)

I wish there was fresh popcorn available onboard...it's only the packaged popped kind. For the shows, we often head up on deck and grab some chicken strips, french fries, or fruit to enjoy with our free sodas from the beverage station. I also bring some movie candy onboard-the boxes of candy you can get for a great deal at drugstores/grocery stores. I usually put a sticker on them with our cruise dates and a thank you message to the crew. I use this for snacks at the movie or show, and then whatever we don't eat, I give along with gratuities to the crew or drop at the kids clubs for the counselors as a thanks.

The candy available onboard is $3-4 a box, and it's the kind you can get at WDW.

First timer here! Sorry, another question: You can bring any food and drinks into the movie theaters?

Yup! The plates are not going any where and Disney already has your money. So, they don't mind. Just don't leave any dishes in there please. Take them back to your cabin with you. pirate:

Wow! I’m starting to see how addicting cruising can become. We’re so excited about bringing French fries to the movies! That’s how new we are! Can’t wait to continue my Disney Wonder homework. Thanks.

I also bring several boxes of movie theatre type candy onboard with us. I have a thing about overpaying for movie candy....I usually buy the 10 boxes for $10.00 candy our local grocery store. Can't beat $1 a box for movie theatre size boxes of Good & Plenty, SnoCaps, Milk Duds, Goobers, etc.!!!

MMouse,

I could have totally written your above comment. :goodvibes We always buy and bring the $1 boxes of candy to the movies as well. We'll get our drinks, and sometimes popcorn, from our local theater's concession stand to give them some business!

I will be packing some of that candy for our cruise and leave whatever we don't use for our Room Steward.

Yummmy MilkDuds....my favorite....good stuff!!:thumbsup2

My mom and I have a standing date for the movies every week and we ALWAYS bring a box of those candies to share!

Hi All!

In addition to bringing treats from home or picking up packaged goodies in port, you can also go to the Cove Cafe where they have munchies available free of charge. I hear tell they sometimes even have rice crispy's treats. You can also order from room service and take that with you.

Also, if you are lucky enough to score a reservation at Palo for Brunch you might be able to get a goodie/dessert assortment to take with you.

I am planning to bring a few treat/munchie type items with us on our upcoming Alaska cruise. I don't know if I will want to sit through a movie onboard but I do enjoy going to all the live shows. I am also planning to bring a couple sixpacks of Rootbeer. As I see it, what good is unlimited softserve icecream without the correct mixer to make a proper float?

Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

I wonder why they don't have fresh popcorn. Don't they know how much they could sell with the smell of fresh buttered goodness that you'd have to walk through to get in to the theater? Haha :)

I can confirm this is true. DW and I back in Feb, took a whole plate of desserts from Palo Brunch into the movie theater.
