Wonder May 17, 2015 3 Night Mexican Riviera

Ahoy Matey's!

DH and myself are booked for this 3night getaway! I'm so excited bc he has no idea.:cool1: Our wedding anniversary is 4/29 and this cruise is my gift to him.:goodvibes I'm setting up a character call for 4/29 right before I give him his anniversary card with our travel info in it!:woohoo::thumbsup2 This will be our 2nd DCL vaca and our first cruise w/o the kids. So excited to meet you all.:wave2: I would definitely be interested in doing the FE, but I agree with pepe3penelope to keep each group small bc the limited amount of time we have.

Oh my goodness!!! That is so sweet of you to surprise him with this surprise cruise! How are you going to keep it all in w/o spilling the beans?!? Can't wait to meet you! Welcome! :)

I have no idea...:rotfl: Last night when the kids were asleep I talked to him about our newly rebooked family Caribbean cruise (Kids don't know ) and I wanted to tell him about this one.:rotfl2: I think the hardest thing is going to be remembering in April to check the mail myself for the cruise documents.:lmao:
Thanks for the welcome!;)

If you can pull it off, you are a rock star! I tried to keep this a surprise from Von, it lasted about 7 minutes, haha. I thought he had gone to work, but he was home and caught me looking at it on the computer. Oh well... There's still the 4-year-old! I think we may try to keep it a secret from him. :)

Hi! I just started 2 new threads about parking at the port and Ensenada because I couldn't find information. Since you're a San Diego local, I would love to pick your brain!:hyper: 1) We live in the LA area. We will drive down, park, and leave our car at the port. I thought I read somewhere that there are multiple lots. Which one is the most convenient? Is it walkable or would we have to take a shuttle? We're also doing the 2 night cruise beforehand & I notoriously overpack (although I will try my best not to go bonkers this time!) and we have our 3 1/2 year old DS and 7 1/2 year old DD. 2) Have you been to the Ensenada port? We went in October 2012 and just stayed on the boat to enjoy the ship. My husband wants to stay on the boat again. If I feel like I need to step on land again, I just wanted to know if it's walkable, safe for the kids, and if the souvenirs are worth it. Thank you so much!!! :cool2:

Parking - there are several a couple of blocks away, but the closest one is under construction and I think becoming a building. I will try to drive downtown and see what is there and the cost of it and report back. You could consider Amtrak depending on where you re coming from in LA, the SD station is a block away from the cruise port.

Ensenada -we stopped there for our repositioning cruise in 2011, and walked around in the small shops at the dock area. It was a secure area, but we did not buy anything. I think we are going to stay onboard this time.

We just took the plunge and are making this cruise a back to back with the two day cruise. And we get to stay in the same cabin, so no packing :)

How awesome! And the best part is not having to 'move' plus you get to enjoy the last night on the first cruise instead of packing and getting ready to get off the ship.

This is our first time doing the B2B (& in the same cabin). I seriously didn't know we didn't have to pack! Does that mean we should still bring a carryon because the cabin wont be available to return to until 1:30?

We did a B2B several years ago and I do not think that the procedure has changed but since it is a different port (San Diego instead of PC) could be it will be different. We got a letter in our cabin and were told to meet at Cadillac Lounge at a specific time with the others that were doing a B2B and we all got off the ship together (after everyone else had). We just took what was required to check in again with us and I don't think we were even off the ship for an hour but we got checked back in again and reboarded. They had Cove Café open for us and we just waited an wandered a bit taking pics. I did go back to my cabin thinking (incorrectly) that it would be a good time to do laundry only my new card was not activated yet.

Thank you for the info! What a relief!

Oh no, well he sure did catch you.:) Yes, you always have that surprise for your son! I'm sure the look on his face when he see's the ship is going to be priceless! When I booked our first cruise I told the family right away, I was super excited and I wanted them to know right away. I figure this time let it be a surprise. :thumbsup2

Congrats! That sounds like fun and B2B is 2 separate cruises towards your Castaway Club member status.

:wave2: Hello Everybody

We would like to join roll call. We have booked both this cruise and the 2 nighter. This one will be my 9th trip on the Wonder ;) I will get a taste of how fast 2 nights on ship passes when I do the 2 nighter this coming May.

We also have booked the same rooms on both trips so we don't have to pack up. We will be 6 forward, 2 sideways cabins. It will be me Linda, my dh Mike and our 2 daughters Michelle 19 & Laura 14. They will have room in their cabin to add a friend closer to cruise date if they like. Michelle will turn 19 in May and will have just completed her first year of college days before. It's going to be an exciting year.

I love doing FE's so sign us up. We love cruising and if we can do it out of California and we love the fact that we will not have to fly to Florida to get on the ship! !

Welcome! I will add your family to the rollcall. As far as I'm concerned, we already have enough people to organize an FE, so let's just say it's a go! I have a spreadsheet going with the four families who have expressed interest. Anyone else who wants to join feel free to send me a PM!

Whoo-hoo!!! I already have ideas for the FE exchange! So excited!

1) By the way, for those of you who have done these short cruises, will those doing the B2B be able to do Animator's Palate with only 2 nights?
2) Is it true there will be NO character breakfast with either cruise because they're so short?
3) what is the likelihood of being able to upgrade at the port? Would they be able to do it with both B2B cruises at the same time (to stay in same cabin)?
TIA! :)

No character breakfast with cruises this short. :(
Which is a total bummer, I've only ever worked a CB, never got to sit and enjoy one.
Upgrading will totally depend on how the ship sells, but I think that with so few closed loop west coast offerings, we can be ready for a pretty full house! Only time will tell, but my best guess would be that any desired upgrading would have it's best shot prior to port!

Hi!
This sounds like a really fun group! We just booked the 2 & 3 night B2B today as well! This is going to be great, a three hour drive down to the port, no airplanes to hassle with! We would love to participate in the FEE!

We have cruised on the Wonder twice before when she first launched and one of the last Mexican Riviera Cruises before they stopped doing those. We did the Magic out of Galveston last year, and have two more cruises booked out of Miami (Wonder) and PC (Dream).

It's just me and my DP, Fran, and I'll just say we're "older" and leave it at that. We're in an accessible room on deck 6. Looking forward to this cruise, I'm calling it a 5 nighter with stops in San Diego and Ensenada!

Hi everyone,

We booked today and will be sailing 5 nights as well. :cool1:

DH & I would like to join the FE
