Wonder - January 21, 2011 The Cruise To Nowhere In Particular..

Any body staying in Disneyland before the cruise? We're going down on Wednesday for a couple of days - NO KIDS!!!!! The logistics though of leaving a 15 & 14 year old behind are driving me nuts. Grandma is taking care of them but at her house, so everything they need has to be backed and hauled over, including their laptops and printers in case they have school work that needs to be done. Oh well, at least I get to go see Mickey and go to Neverland, right?

My plan is to at least do Disneyland on Thursday. I think I will fly in on Wednesday, but I am also trying to work out going to the Pantages to see HAIR. I just found out an old friend of mine is in the tour!

We are flying in Tuesday and doing Tuesday and Thursday in Disneyland and Wednesday at Universal Studios. When we get back Sunday we are going to do one more day at Disneyland. It was cheaper to fly back on Monday then Sunday.

We are going to DL on Sunday too! Cheaper to fly back on Monday :)

I'm torn between wanting to maximize a day at DL and not getting off the ship till the last minute possible!

No DL for us. It's so hard to take our kids out of school anymore but we are. We are driving over on Thursday, staying at the Crowne Plaza and then driving home on Sunday after we debark. Super fast weekend trip.

This is my parents and my sis's first cruise ever! And we are all nervous about getting sea sick. We never did on our two Bahamas cruises but the Pacific in the winter can be different and my family is quite prone to motion sickness.

I've got 5 sets of Sea Bands and some motion sickness meds which we plan on taking 1/2 pill in the AM and 1/2 in the PM. Lets hope for 70 degree weather!

yay - one more for the Crowne Plaza pre-party!

Disneyland is open until 11 that night so I figure by the time we get there and check back into the Hojo we will stil have at least 8 or more hours there.

We'll be there on Thursday. Spending the whole day in DL (No Disney's Construction Adventure for us) I want the day to be laid back and unhurried.

Bummer. I'm hoping that the ships movement is minimal too. I'm not prone to seasickness but I have no idea about my kids. I'm watching the weather reports like a hawk. I'd like to see that 70 degree weather.

We're at HoJo's too. Got a great rate.

I'd wager that's just an oddity, perhaps based on plans prior to the addition of our cruise. Our intinerary says "at sea" and I'm certain that's where we'll be. They'd have an awful lot of very angry guests on their hands if "at sea" meant "in port". I wouldn't worry.

Well, thats very interesting! Lets hope thats not the way its going to be!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm going to bet that it is just a mistake on the calendar (or at least that is what I am hoping, LOL).

I hope everyone has great visits to Disneyland while you are here! We are local so we are heading to DLR this weekend (I want to pick up a bottle of Magicale to bring on board, LOL). Hopefully the rain is gone for a while and we will have nice weather for our weekend getaway!

Hi All

What time do they start boarding?
I haven't picked up my travel docs yet so maybe it says in there.
And am I correct that we have to be on board by 4PM?
Normally I would want to be there the second they open up but my son has finals that day that end at 12:20 and it's an hour to the port and I am wondering if we can swing that.

Worse case scenario he can skip the finals and retake them the first of the next week, but I REALLY don't want him to have to do that. Usually the finals are the next week but for some reason they moved them up a week.

I know some other folks who are waiting until the kids finish school before heading to the port, so you won't be alone.

Just got off the phone with Disney Concierge, I was told it was a rumor saying we are in the same restaurant both nights. Our reservations show us in AP (as a request) and Triton. She said they recieved an email regarding the rotation confussion. The trip will be all casual wear except for Palo. There will be tours on the ship that can be signed up for when you get onboard. Those on concierge level will be directed to the desk when boarding so that they can have first choose at those. I guess we will have to wait until we are there to see what is really going on.

I always miss out on the tours. I'm going to head straight to Guest Services to try to get something.

Do you think they'll show Tangled in 3D. We saw the regular version in the theatres already, but I was hoping to get to see it in 3D, especially the lantern scene.

Also, is anyone here familiar with dining options near the Doubletree in San Pedro? We're flying in the day before and booked their Fly and Cruise package, so our breakfast the day of the cruise is taken care of at the hotel, but we'll need someplace to eat dinner the night before. We won't have a car, but the hotel has a complimentary shuttle to anywhere within a 5 miles radius.

I can't remember which hotel it was in, but several cruisers in 2008 had a precruise meet at either the Doubletree or Crowne. The restaurant had patio dining that overlooked the pier. I don't remember any reviews of the food though because everyone was just so excited to hang out together. I myself was involved in another precruise meet at Disneyland, watching Fantasmic with about 70 other cruisers. That was a blast. I had 5 king sized blankets all spread out saving space for everyone.

Trying to figure out if I'll have time to swing by and pick up a bottle myself. We fly in Friday morning so it would mean less time on the ship if I did.

Just read on the main board that they missed Castaway Cay today....winds and choppy seas. But they get an overnight at Aruba.

I just put motion sea sick pills on my "packing list" right now.

I have no plans to visit DL prior to or after the cruise since I will be staying on the Wonder for Mexican Rivera cruise. Two weeks and counting down!

I just read that too. Bummer. I bet you never need those pills. We were on the Magic in October and traveled around a tropical storm. There were HUGE swells outside the portholes. I barely felt the movement.

I was very tempted to do that same thing. I wanted to have the kids go back home with my In-Laws and Laura and I stay onboard for a MR cruise. I wish I could afford it. I'd do it in an instant!
