Wonder - January 21, 2011 The Cruise To Nowhere In Particular..

I'm not familiar with the port location (though I will be by January 2011!) but I can almost assure it will take half the time....Universal is a tricky destination because there really is no way to avoid the downtown LA/Hollywood traffic. From Anaheim to the port, I think you would take the 22 east/north to the 405 north. shouldn't take more than an hour, especially if you wait until 10 or so, after the morning rush. Let's hope for early boarding!

Isn't that 2 small portholes?

I was going to GTY, but then for 29 bucks more, I got my favorite cabin, so it was a no brainer. For 2 nights, I do not need to have a window, a balcony or a split bath.

Just DOD and hopefully some calm seas.

At 4pm Eastern,. all GTY 11Cs were gone. I paid $459 for an 11B, paid in full because what's 59 dollars? This cruise is using the standard deposit and most likely cancellation rules as most all others,

perfect for people in southern california. expecially if you never been on a cruise to try it out to see if you like it.

I really really really hope that a lot of the PCers will get off and not try to do B2B, bumping us out of our coveted Sideways 11s. I have the same room on this cruise as I do on the Ca to CA repo in April. I couldn't believe the price for 2, less than 500. No transfers, I will drive over.

Although if someone really wants to stay put in my chosen and paid for room, DCL can always give me a sweet upgrade.

It is very popular, my TA said they booked at least 4 yesterday as soon as it was announced and after I booked, all Cat 11Cs were gone.

I am on the PC and doing my first B2B but I did not take the coveted sideways CAT 11! I promise! I did book 2 clients yesterday into CAT 11 but were midship. If you have a cabin number...you should be okay. On the PC thread - most were not taking the additional 2 nights but heading over to Disneyland.

Welcome! :yay:

Hehe hi Stichy! Yes we're considereing this cruise, but you already know that! Still trying to decide! Anyone know what the cancellation policy is off the top of your head?

I verified the cancellation policy today....the same....refundable deposit until the 75 days out paid in full date.

My wife said the same. We'll be spending most of our time outside of the cabin. Sounds like this one will book up though. Probably not many upgrades for it.

Hi Stitch4336-Welcome! Book it so you can discover that you love cruising :thumbsup2 and then you'll go with us on the Dream:yay:

Thanks. That sounds promising. :thumbsup2

I would love to do this cruise, just wish the deposit wasn't $200/each.

I was surprised at that too. But, I wasn't going to let it get it my way. I was really jazzed to get back on a Disney Ship for a reasonable price. And the fact that it will be two cruises in year for me is even better.

I did that too. Our price was $837 for the four of us and I went ahead and paid it off since I wasn't going to carry a $37 debt!

If you are anywere near Disneyland, and keep in mind I have lived in L.A. my whole life (I am 35) you would want to take the 5 north to the 91 west to the 110 south. That will take you right to the World cruise center. Also their is a carpool on the 5 and 91. SO if you have 2 or more in the car use this lane.

I have a room on hold for this cruise, but I think I'll let it go. Since we'll only be sailing out of CA that first night and day, the weather in the winter is ALWAYS cold, and probably rainy. I decided it wouldn't be worth it to be stuck indoors and bundled up the whole time.

So lucky for someone else....they'll be able to fill my space!:thumbsup2

LOL...DH and I decided that we better not leave the cabin at the cost! It will be worth it.. a chance to relax after our PC cruise and spend time with our family and friends who are hopefully joining us!

That's what Mapquest said. I tried to edit my previous post containing directions but don't think I did it correctly. Thanks for clarifying!

Bingo! I lived in Wilmington, CA half my life and worked at DL when I lived there. This is the best way. Also, my niece now lives in Wilmington and works at DCA and she says nothing has changed. You can also take the 91 to the 710 to the 405 and shimmy through Wilmington, but I wouldn't suggest that unless you know the area well. (But it works if the freeways are clogged for a Sig Alert.)

Thanks everyone for the driving directions. I'm going to store them in my iPhone right now for future reference.

I think this is a GREAT Idea for people that need a disney cruise fix. I'm going to book this cruise on the 20th and then rebook in september on our DVC Cruise and see what the incentive is :cool1: ($200 OBC would be amazing)

Wow! I never thought of it before, but This small cruise could almost pay for itself for some people!

Here's my thinking:
2ppl in Inside Cabin costs $418+taxes
Now...
Rebook online Same 2ppl in Oceanview cabin gets 10% discount
$2213 cost 10% of which = $221
PLUS-
$200 OBC
EQUALS= $441

Which is almost the cost of this cruise!

Ingenious!

Hey I just posted this on the main DCL board and thought I would repeat it here in case there was someone not following the other thread.

Now...
Rebook onboard: same 2ppl in Oceanview cabin (est price of 7night cruise off season) and you get 10% discount

$200 OBC
EQUALS= $441

So If there are any new to Disney Cruisers out there... this small Cruise is a god-send!
