Wonder - January 21, 2011 The Cruise To Nowhere In Particular..

Well shoot, I thought I had 6003, but looks like I lost it. I must have been so excited to see it available 2 days ago that I screwed up and did not confirm the room change or something. Oh well, still happy to be on the cruise. I will keep looking to see if one opens back up.

Hi everyone - we booked and are in a SPH room - cool!
DH and I are first time cruisers, long time park visitors. I was wondering about everyone's opinions on the dining on the Wonder. Palo doesn't quite look like our style, so I'm not planning on trying to get in there. With only two dinners IF they let us pick, which two would you pick? We think Anaimator's Palatte looks pretty neat, so I think we would pick that one for sure. Can't decide on the other two. If you had to pick just two, which would you pick?

Thanks - LOVE the boards :cheer2:

I would do Tritons (sorry had wrong ship) and Parrot Cay. But no matter where you eat, it's the same menu (unless they have changed it since 2008).

Since this will be your first cruise, IF we are given a choice (I hope!) I would definitely try Animator's. It is fun to see at least once. My other choice would be Triton's. It's fancier than Parrot Cay and it appears that you are traveling without children? I also enjoy the menu there more. With children, I would choose Parrot Cay. I believe that DCL now has the menus on the website. Check them out!

Welcome aboard!! we are also in SPH room (#5020) . As for dining, since you guys are first timers...i would recommend Animator's and Tritons.

Congrats! And Welcome to the thread! As others have stated, you'll want to experience Animators Pallate if this is your first time. Tritons would be a good second choice. I'm not sure how disney is going to work the dining rooms since the traditional way will mean that everyone will miss out on one dining room. Might be a headache. Since I am cruising with newbies I'll probably be wanting Animators as well. Otherwise, I'd skip it in favor of the other two.

I almost snagged a SPH room. Wife wouldn't let me. Oh Well! I'll be in one in Oct '11

Let me know how you like that room. My bro is booked in that one on the Magic in Oct. '11

Cool! I just saw the Mod's post myself. and was going to suggest this.

Oh! that would stress me out too. I get annoyed when my credit card fails to swipe at the store!

Luckily it's not my credit card! That would really stress me out - it seems that the amount they want for the deposit for my DD is more then her cost for the cruise so they have to figure out hwo to fix that.

I would definitely pick Animators but as stated, the food is the same in each restaurant so the food doesn't matter. But the location for the first time is fun!

I know it's only a 2 night cruise but is anyone interested in doing FE?

What, they can't just say her fare is X and let you pay in full? Or they can't just take the total of the deposits and apply them to the fare and not worry about individual amounts due?

You know the book keepers are going to be really happy about having to see debits and credits on this cruise, because you can't be the only one. They should have made the deposit 100 per person, this cruise only.

The problem is that our deposits are non-refundable. They have never come across this problem as there has never been a short enough cruise where I guess the fare was lower then $400.00 which is the deposit for the cabin. I am explaining to them that I do not wish to pay a non-refundable $400.00 for a $225.00 fare. They see my point and are trying to figure out what to do about it.

I know I am not alone in this at all so I am sure they have to figure this out for several cabins but you would think it would be easier to figure it out. Although, I have every intention of going on this cruise and obviously the $400.00 go towards the amount in full, I do not want to lose an adiditonal $175.00 should I have to cancel for any reason. Originally, I thought I might have to add a 4th guest to my cabin so the problem would have been compounded by 2 people but since my Sis and Mom now have thier own cabin, it doesn't affect us quite as much.

My cabin hold is expiring today so I am hoping to hear from the powers that be very soon so I can not stress.

What category cabin are you in? My deposit was $400 and I owed an addtional $59 after that. If there are only 2 of you in the room, how is your DDs fare only $225 yet you are indicating you are getting a suite, thus the non refundable deposit?

We are in a CAT R. We will never be able to afford it again so we thought we would celebrate my birthday in style. There are 3 of us in the cabin...my DD amount is $225.00 as the 3rd person. So our deposit is $1200.00. I do realize that we owe more then $1200 overall but they are stating that I will not get back any part of the $1200.00 should I cancel before final payment. Which I understand but I think a little unfair since I am obviously paying more then her fare. If I have to - I will.... I just wondered.

We were supposed to renew our wedding vows but the price went up $1000.00 since we did it in 2008 so we opted to splurge on a suite instead for this 2-night and celebrate my birthday. It is costing us almost the same amount for our cabin as the vow renewal. This was our honeymoon ship so we wanted to renew our wedding vows on it but the cost went from $1500.00to $2500.00 for the same thing we got in 2008 (We did the Magic - not realizing that we would have a chance to do a PC on the Wonder). We thought we would enjoy ourselves more with the cabin.

I thought about it, but I'm thinking that the time onboard is so short as to make it difficult. Anyone else have an opinion?

Crazy! I can't imagine that they'd let your cabin hold expire because of their problem. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya.

They should have made the deposit 100 per person, this cruise only.

That's what I thought! I was shocked to see that my fare was only $37 more than my deposit!

tink1963 - just wondering if you are the same tink1963 I met in DL in 2008? It was for the LP Club 33 meet. If you are the same - HEY AGAIN!!!! If you aren't, then I hope to meet you on the cruise!! :cool1:

Who ARE you? (Says Ursula from LP)

I was wondering because time was so short... but I know it's fun anyways..I will go with what everyone else wants to do.

I know what you mean about the fare..trying to explain to some of my clients that they basically just paid off thier cruise :rotfl2: You would have thought that the deposit would have been lower on this cruise. Oh well..won't be so painful at the end to pay it off!
