There will be an 18/19 year old girl traveling with us. She's in the facebook group, but I haven't shared with her this site (because I don't want to spoil surprises).

Hello all! We just moved to this Alaska cruise from one later in the summer. We are Kevin, Donna, Audrey (8 yrs), and Alexander (6 yrs) and are also traveling with Kevin's parents. We are very excited about this as we have never been to Alaska!!! This is our 3rd Disney cruise and our first on the Wonder. We look forward to talking more with y'all as we get closer to May!

Welcome!! We were on the Inaugural Alaska Cruise in 2011 and really enjoyed it!! May is called "spring break-up" and we had lots of whales, waterfalls, and sunshine! Everywhere we went folks told us that we must have brought the nice weather with us on the Disney Wonder! Looking forward to meeting all of you nice folks, ALOHA, Karen and Ron:thumbsup2

Welcome onboard. This will be our first Alaska cruise, too, but our 6th cruise on the Wonder.

I have a 17 y/o DD and an 11 y/o DS. I'd love to have them chat with some others their ages before we go...

I'm wondering if most people are going to be spending any time in Vancouver after the cruise. I had an idea for part of our FE gifts, but if no one is going to spend time in Vancouver afterwards, it might not make sense for me to do it. :thumbsup2

We have not really given this any thought as yet. Much depends on where we fly back from. I definitely want to have a couple of days in Seattle as I am a huge Dale Chihuly fan. If we fly out of Seattle, we probably will spend the day we get off the ship in Vancouver and then head to Seattle the next day. If we fly back from Los Angeles, we will head straight to Seattle.

On a positive note, we are now officially paid in full.

Everyone in my group except me will spend time in Vancouver afterwards. Silly me and my silly job. Lol

So, Disney recommends we don't book any flights out of Vancouver on our last day before 12:00pm. The perfect flight for me leaves at 11:30am that day (It's the only direct flight that I see available). Anyone know how conservative Disney's recommendation is? Anyone's experience with this would be greatly appreciated!!
(Note: It looks like we're scheduled to dock at 8:30am which would be 3 hours before the flight.)

I don't know how far the airport is from the port, but this seems a little tight. Are you a US citizen? If you are, I assume immigration would take longer than this would be the case at an US port and also a flight back to the US would be classified as an international flight.

I just had a look at the airport website for Vancouver and they recommend that people flying to the USA arrive 3 hours before departure, complete US Customs Declaration card, check-in at YVR and proceed through security & US Customs Border inspection.

That even makes a 12:30 departure look tight.

We've booked back to back, starting in LA. Anyone else doing the same?

There are a few of us doing that. :sail:

A bunch of us are doing B2B's.

Husband and I just booked this cruise doing the b2b super excited. Just stopping by to say hi

Welcome on board. We are also doing the back to back and we are from the UK. We just arrived in Galveston last night and will be getting on the Magic tomorrow.

Corinna

I thought I had already posted on this thread, but can't seem to find my post. Must have hit the wrong key or something.

Anyway, my wife (Val) and I (Jeff) will be on board this cruise. We're making this the second half of a B2B with the West Coast Repo cruise. We are DCL veterans, having done six so far and 3 more (counting these two) planned.

Booked this cruise yesterday, along with the repo up to Vancouver. We did AK this past summer and loved it, can't wait to go back.

Heading out on the Dream on Sunday, can't wait for that one either.

Kind of late to the party but we (DW-Lee Ann and I -Mike) will be doing the back to back on this one also. It will be my first real cruise (I did a 2 night deal on the Big Red Boat back in the 90's). We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and wanted to do something outside our 'normal' WDW trips. Being from SC this is really stepping outside the box for us. We added on the two nights before so we could stop in and see DL. Should have all day Sunday the 19th to do a little gawking.

Our flights are booked. Charlotte>Lax on the 18th and then homebound Vancouver>Charlotte on June the fourth. The only thing I don't have set yet are our lodging for 2 nights at DL (18th and 19th) and our overnight in Vancouver after the cruise.

Once again....excited to be seeing some of you in about 4 months!

Hi All,

We just booked onto the May cruise from July 15 cruise. Couldn't pass up on $850 savings. My DH, DS (4), DS (3) and myself will be joining you. Also, my in-laws. My husband is currently deployed with the Air Force and this is our welcome home family time trip. I am actually super excited that we get to go sooner. However, I am afraid it will make me want to cruise again sooner than later. This is will be our first cruise ever and what better way to start than with Disney.

I would like to know more about the FE you have set up.

Also, I have not PIF yet, are there any excursions that are sold out already? Does anyone expect this to happen?

Can't wait to meet some of you. I will have to go through and read all the previous posts.

Welcome.
No one has been able to start booking excursions, that starts this weekend with Platinum's and Concierge guests.

Thank you to your husband for his service and to you and your family for your support of him. :flower3:

I have to sit and laugh at your post since it sounds a lot like our travel plans and even more so since you quoted my post about leaving out on the Dream a few days after I posted that quote, we are sailing on the Fantasy this Saturday.

We're celebrating our 25th on the first cruise and our DD's 19th b'day on this cruise - each cruise starts on our celebrations. We're flying to LA on the 18th and staying at our Wyndham timeshare for 2 nights, but DD is flying out on the 14th and staying with my cousin's DD for 3 nights and will then check into the timeshare on Friday. After the cruise we're staying in Vancouver for the night but haven't booked anywhere yet - I keep trying on Priceline for somewhere near the port or the airport.

Are you flying on USAir? Just wondering if we will be on the same flight on the 4th if you have a connection in PHX.

Welcome on board. We have not booked our flights yet and have no clear plans what to do after the cruise, but we have our pre-cruise stay at Disneyland booked and know what excursions we want to do.

Welcome on board. Magic3forme is organizing the Fish Extender exchange. I am sure that she will be around soon to point you in the right direction or you can send her a PM.

Welcome! :)

Feel free to PM with any questions about the FE!

Yikes! That's right, I forgot that we do customs on the departure end when doing Canada-US. (I have both Canadian and US citizen ship but live in US now). Eak, I guess 11:30 probably is too early a departure... I'm still struggling to give it up though because it's the only direct flight that day. Oh well... :(

Thanks for the reminder Corinna! And for the information. It's better safe than sorry.
