Wonder in Alaska!!! May 27, 2013

I'm so sorry this is much later than I wanted it to be, but the lanyard cards are finally done! This is an editable .pdf, so you should be able to input your name, your DISBoards name and where you're from (if you choose to - I thought it would be fun to see where others are from).

These are horizontal in nature, but if there's enough requests/need I'll try & do a vertical one as well. I left some of the template blank so that if you're unable to print on business cards/thicker card stock, you're able to print and fold to make it thicker in your lanyard so it will hopefully last the whole trip.

If you've already left for your trip, or don't have time/the means to print one out for yourself before you leave, I'll bring some blank ones (printed on paper that's a touch thicker than normal, but not card stock) & pens/Sharpies to fill out your name/DISName for the DIS meetup.

The file can be found in the Facebook group or by clicking here (it's on my Google Drive) You *do* have to actually download and not just view the file to be able to edit it and type in your name, etc.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

When I click on your link it takes me to a log in page, is that the page that I should see?

Sorry! Google changed some settings on me since I last shared documents. :worried: The link should work now. Sorry about that! :)

I uploaded a different version as I didn't realize I had to embed the font if I wanted to use a fun one ;-) Now it should be all uploaded and sized properly, etc. Thanks for being patient as I figure this all out!

They are WONDERful -- thank you for taking the time to design and send them. I do have one tiny question......
What font did you use, mine defaults to Cabri 11 which does not match the text.

Thanks....

Oh no! I'm sorry it's not working for you. If you'd like you can PM me and we can try to troubleshoot it. DH embedded the font into the .pdf, but depending on what program you're using to open the file, it may not come through. My DH & I tested it on a couple of different computers with a couple of different operating systems, but there's always a few that slip through the cracks ;)

The font I used was Mouse Memoirs, which can be downloaded for free from here. Hope that helps!

If anyone else is having problems with it, please let me know and DH & I will try to figure out what's going on! :thumbsup2

They look fine. It is just the font....And I am sure user error on my part. By saving them I need to open in Paint and then insert a text box for the name. By using Paint, I do not have the Mouse Memoirs loaded. I will try another 'puter to see but no worries. Thanks again.

PS - just tried a different computer and works like a charm. As I said user error...that or I had not had my morning coffee yet!

Ah! It's probably viewing it in Paint that's messing it up. If you want, you can download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free, which is a program that is used to view .pdfs. :thumbsup2

If you don't want to download that, or download Mouse Memoirs to do it yourself in Paint, I will be bringing blank printed ones with pens/Sharpies to the DIS meet on the first day so that everyone has a chance to participate, so no worries there :thumbsup2

I finally finished exams and I am able to focus on the cruise now!

Thanks for doing this! I just made mine and put my own personal touch on it. I didn't have the same font and I didn't feel like searching for it (but the font you used is VERY similar to the Brady Bunch font).

I don't think I'll be hard to miss though. I can pretty much guarantee that I'll be the only person on board sporting a Buffalo Bills lanyard, lol.

I called Disney Cruise Line during my lunch break.
Here is some good info the Cast Member gave me.

Dress for Dining:

  • Monday: Casual
  • Tuesday: Formal
  • Wednesday: Casual
  • ThursdaY: Casual
  • Friday: Casual - Pixar Pals Party (Indoor, Atrium)
  • SaturdaY: Semi Formal
  • Sunday: Casual

Was told (already knew this) that they...
  • Take requests for dinning rotations, but make no guarantees.
  • Can link dining reservations to eat with another stateroom.

Movies on Board:

  1. Pirates: Stranger Tides
  2. Avengers
  3. Brave (2D & 3D)
  4. Finding Nemo (3D)
  5. Frankenwinne
  6. Wreck It Ralph
  7. Lincoln
  8. Oz The Great and Powerful (In Theaters March 8)
Note: These movies are always subject to change without notice

I know that Iron Man 3 releases in theaters on May 3.
I'm sure (at least I hope) they will be updating this movie list to include the movie.

Since we're at the two week mark, I decided to call in and check on the movie list. Here's what I was told

  1. Avengers
  2. Brave
  3. Finding Nemo (3D)
  4. Wreck It Ralph
  5. Lincoln
  6. Oz The Great and Powerful
  7. Iron Man 3!! :dance3:

I wonder if they're replaying Pirates with a Pixar movie and just didn't mention it...

Do you mean when Pirates is shown on ArielView on deck 9? When you call in they only tell you the movies being played in the theater, not the ones that are shown elsewhere on the ship such as deck 9 and your stateroom.

Yes, that's what I meant. I was wondering about the fact that Pirates of the Caribbean was taken off the list from when Nick last checked. That's good news - maybe we'll still get the Pirates movie after all :).

Thanks for posting. DH is a history buff so I know where he will be...at least part of the time......

I can't remember where, but it seems like I saw a post that someone had room for more on a Harv and Marv's whale watching trip. Did anyone else notice that? I've been reading so much between disboards and facebook I can't keep it straight.
We are all getting so excited! My boys got costumes for pixar night, 10 year old will be Walle and 8 year old will be a bear (Brother Bear) Our pirates will be left at home I guess. :joker:

Hi Everybody,

I see there are a number of new folks. For those of you doing the back-to-back or anyone else who is interested, I will still be bringing tiaras for the special tea or just because you want to feel like a princess. I bought them at the Tucson Gem and Mineral show originally for the Champagne Girls event which now is not happening but at $8 each (no markup) I thought they would be fun for the cruise. I'll bring them to the M & G.

I don't know if I signed up for the tea. I wanted to but things went haywire for awhile. If I didn't, my loss. If I did, do I owe someone money?

Since we're doing the Back-to-Back, we will leave Tucson on Sunday morning for the 1 hour and 15 minute flight to L.A. We're staying at the Crowne Plaza near the dock. Our son lives in L.A. and will be returning that morning from Catalina Island with his girlfriend so we'll get a chance to see them before we leave on our journey.

Looking forward to meeting each of you. We are leaving the kids and grandkids home. Our regular ship haunts are Palo, nightclubs and spa.

I think the Harv and Marv post you're talking about was posted by Jennifer Miller Upton on the facebook page on April 9th (last comment made April 11th). If you scroll down the page a ways to open up old posts and then do a control find (control+f) for the word 'whale' you can find it pretty quick (presuming that's the right one).

Beth, I have you down as 2 people for tea girls. Is that still correct? The same dress code as Chapagne Girls applies princess::dance3:princess::
