Wonder Alaska Cruise 9/2/2013

We want to join the FE groups, Valbob89, Valerie and DH Bob. Cabin GTY

We are currently on the 7-8 Alaska cruise and have some very satisfactory experiences we'll report when we get home in a few days.

We're on our 14th Disney cruise, and are typing from Ketchikan, sitting a few dozen yards from Wonder -- at the Salmon Landing. We have all the Navigators (and Bob has all the kiddie menus, because he wanted the graphics of Pixar characters). We took a whale and nature hike excursion yesterday and in Skagway the Ferry to Haines and flat boat nature ride, both DCL excursions.

Look forward to meeting all of you in Sept. Will read the last 11 pages went we get home

Valerie, am I reading this correctly? YOu were on the EBTA, you are now on the ALaska July, and you will be on the Alaska September 2? WHew! BTW,
Your winning ship entry on the transatlantic was awesome....

I also posted this on the Facebook page::wave2:
Anyone interested in doing Meet-N-Greets on the day of embarkation, party:or attending a (Facebook and DISboards) PJ Breakfast at Triton's on Tuesday AM, or meeting at the "Secret Deck" on Aft 7 at 5PMish on Tuesday At Sea or as we cruise through Tracey Arm Wednesday? BYO. Or....:drinking1

It is kinda embarrassing, but yes. We did the EBTA and then the first Med cruise. Got home, washed and repacked for the 7-8 Alaska cruise.

We just got off the Wonder and are spending the night at the Pan Pacific, which is connected to the ship terminal. Tomorrow we'll fly home.

The cruise was lovely. Vancouver weather couldn't have been better. We got a little rain in all three Alaska ports, but that is to be expected. No one really dressed up on formal night. Funny but the men were more dressed then most of the women. I wore a long black formal dress and felt very over dressed. I think I won't bother with more then a nice top and black pants. Leave home the dress and heels. That said, watch in September everyone will dress to the nines.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I will say get off the ship, picking up luggage and through customs was the easiest we've ever seen it. I did notice the lines for taxi cabs was very very very long. We'll take the DCL buses or arrange a private car.

We just booked this cruise and I just keep thinking I shouldn't pack my dresses this time.
I feel like I am going to be freezing the entire time.
So I for one will be in black slacks and a nice top on formal night.

I will be packing black good pants and a pretty top, too.
Welcome back, Val and Bob! Can you tell us all what excursions, Disney or non-DIsney, you went on? And were there a lot of kids on board? I have a feeling that the September cruise will be different in the kids onboard numbers.

In Ketchikan we just walked around town a bit. It rained but wasn't really cold. None of the excursions excited us.

In Juneau we took the DCL rainforest nature hike and whale watching. It was pretty good. Bob really liked the walk through the rainforest and I liked the whale watching. We were really lucky and had a young whale jumping, splashing and just having a good time for about 30 minutes close to our boat. The weather was overcast but no rain and not really cold.

In Skagway we took the DCL flat bottom boat and nature hunt on Haines Island. We saw a few eagles and a couple of moose. They provided jackets, ear muffs, gloves and blankets so it wasn't cold and we didn't have any rain. We were really lucky to see the moose, the other boat only saw a few eagles.

We've been to these ports a number of times before and felt comfortable booking independent tours but this time decided to go with the DCL.

I don't know the exact number of kids onboard. The ship was full - no upgrades at the port. There seemed to be a lot of children. Because they don't spend as much time at the pool we saw them more around the ship. All we saw were well behaved and it was fun to hear about all they saw and did. There were a lot of first time DCL cruisers. The Castaway Club reception had only about 50 people there.

John Charles was onboard for the first 4 days.

Jumping in here and saying hi! - hope it is OK. My husband and I just booked today with OGT rate. We have never ever cruised at all before. We are overwhelmed with information :) Fastest we have ever planned a trip, priced Saturday night online booked this morning ! We are cruising to celebrate our 10th anniversary and leaving our 5 kiddos at home.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Us too.
We sailed out of Miami in January(we live in Ft. Lauderdale)
Did the LA re-po to Vancouver in May.
And said we would do Alaska next Sept. Then we saw that VGT rate.
First hubby said no, you made your quota for the year, week later he booked to surprise me.

I am so excited, but now I need Alaska clothes. Hope we can find Jackets in South Florida in the summer.

What a sweetie your husband is!!! :flower3: Five of our friends from the EBTA this year have been SO helpful with the last minute planning, excursions, etc. The best hint they gave is that at the three ports we visit, there are so many high quality and inexpensive jackets, sweatshirts, etc available, and that they have the Alaska logos on them for a great souvenir. (and we are on one of the last trips of the year for any cruise line, so they say much will be on sale!) :cool1: Just bring a waterproof rainjacket or windbreaker and you'll make it to the first port!

Come to the Promenade Lounge, Deck 3 Aft, at 3:00PM on Embarkation day, Monday, Sept. 2, to enjoy the company of your fellow cruisers!party: All family members welcome. ***sign up on Facebook; if you are not part of the Alaskan Adventurers Facebook page, please PM me on DISboards with the first names of each person in your cabin so that I can make you ID tags to add to your lanyard. *** Thanks!

Hi, my DH, I and DS11 and DS8 have just booked this cruise. Super excited, this is our 3rd disney cruise but first Alaska to celebrate hubby's 40th. Not sure whether we are going to do the FE yet as not sure if I have enough time to get organized. How many people are signed up currently?
Can't believe I actually booked it and got a stupid cheap IGT rate!!!!

WELCOME!!!pixiedust: If you log onto Facebook and search Wonderful Alaska Adventurers, you will find us! Just ask on the Facebook page to join. :scratchin There are about 3 dozen in the FE group: join by August 1st, (you still have time!) and a Meet-n-Greet scheduled for Monday afternoon at 3:00 in the Promenade on Deck 3 Aft before we set sail. More fun to come!!!!

Good morning, all!:coffee:
(Or good evening, to our Australian and Kiwi friends!)
If you are still coming on this cruise, and are NOT on the Facebook page (look up Wonderful Alaska Adventurers; we can put you on there ASAP if you have a Facebook account), could you *please* PM me here so that I can have names/ a count of cruisers? I'm making ID nametags so we can greet each other, and planning some events during the cruise. What would you like to see planned?
In other words: :rolleyes1 DIS-only cruise people, please PM me that you're still going! Thanks!

Is it possible to have a link to the FE group for this cruise here on the DISboard site? I also want to make sure we have been added. I would appreciate it very much. Thanks Update - thanks for adding me to facebook and giving me access to the FE list. Is it ok to added it here?
