Wonder Alaska Cruise 9/2/2013

We went for haircuts this morning. Since Bob was going thought I'd get a trim to clean it up. OMG - I'll be the one wearing the hat. Since when does "trim" mean 4 inches? Of course men don't seen to understand, even after 40 years, that "it'll grow out in a month or two" isn't a helpful response to "how bad is it?"

Just think of how much quicker it will dry! ;) I totally understand, I wear my hair short these days but I have had a few I've cried after!

OMG I think Bob and Joe are related. ROTFL:rotfl2::rotfl:

I guess he thought enough time had passed to 'share'. As I was brushing out my hair before getting into bed he looked at me. Expecting a "see it's not so bad" he said -----"Why weren't you watching what she was doing?" And to think I put this boy through 10 years of college :confused3

Wow we leave in 5 days to head up to Vancouver and I have not even started packing! We are doing this cruise B2B with the vancouver to LA cruise. I'm worried about how much I need. Seems like we need to be prepared for all sorts of weather. We are doing the helicopter ride to a glacier with dog mushing. What type of shoes do we need for that? Not easy to pack snow boots. Do you think somehow we can manage this excursion with sneakers?? I've noticed so many families with twins coming on this cruise! Awesome! We have 5 year old twin boys. Can't wait to see some of you on the ship! Oh and does anyone know where to buy alcohol in Vancouver :)

Hi We too were thinking to do the dog mushing tour, but worry that the rain will hinder the tour. As for footwear, I would advise boots for footwear which you can all wear off the plane in Vancouver to make it easier for you. Just string the boots onto the carryon and switch....or...just keep them hanging off the carryon all the way until you arrive to the port of the tour. Sneakers are fine too, but I imagine they will run in the snow as they play with the dogs. (must admit it is cool to see snow in August/Sept)...any footwear is fine excluding flip flops.:thumbsup2

Does anyone know if the pools are heated? I don't recall, but that was probably because I did not care - we were in the Caribbean. But in Alaska, it seems like it might be nice. Of course, the hot tubs area, but I am talking about the main pool (not adult or kiddie).

According to the 5 video clips on youtube, "A Mom's Take Sailing to Alaska on Disney Wonder", the mom states the pools are heated. (we've been on previous Disney cruises, including a few on Wonder, and didn't find the pool that warm, but for Alaska, they may raise the temps.

Hi everyone! My family and I just booked this cruise and we are so excited! It's me (Jahna), my husband (Suresh), Ella (9), and Gabe (6). This will be our 4th DCL cruise, although our first time in Alaska. It will also be our first time flying to a cruise, since we live in Orlando and are spoiled with close DCL cruises ;)

Hello. I too have a daughter aged 9, (Nancy). She is excited to meet Ella. We are from Toronto, Ontario Canada. (I'm sure you've met many from Toronto in Orlando !!:cutie::hippie:

Hi ya'll!

My DW and I just finished an Alaskan cruise disembarking on the day you departed, but stayed around Vancouver for a day to visit friends. We stayed in a downtown hotel, and had a reasonable view of the harbor (or harbour, as it's Canada). As a result, I have a couple of nice photos of the Wonder leaving Vancouver for your cruise.

If you'd them for your collection (and they're essentially the same), PM me with your email and I'll send them to you. Or, if someone is signed up for photobucket or the like, PM me and you can post it here. I don't have that kind of account.

Hope you have a great cruise!

All the best, :flower3:
Richard

We just got home an hour ago, and I wanted to say hi and thank all of you for helping make the Alaska cruise so terrific for us :yay::banana:-- we made so many zany and wonderful new friends, drank some new mixology drinks (Belgian Bombshells, anyone?), had terrific Linked Dining table partners (although the table behind us had just too too much fun! you know who you are LOL) and we almost all ended up drinking the kool aid for the WBTA. The recipe exchange was such a great idea, and I heard so many good and creative things going on thru the FE exchange, thanks to the coordinator (and thank you, for including us with little pixie dust treats in our FE, even though we weren't on the list!) The shop keepers asked just how many of us were there, so I guess the name tags were a hit! -- we did truly enjoy the activities and adventures with the bunch of you and hope to sail with you soon! xox Jacquie and Joe and Kristin

Jacque! I think you are causing this drama yourself! I didn't delete your from the Facebook group even though I know you have told multiple people that! I am sick of you bad mouthing me when you don't even know me! The cruise is over grow up and start acting like a lady! I am sick of sitting back and taking your rude and snarky comments!

Wow! Thank, Jon! Looks like you had pretty good weather-- I haven't figured out how you managed to have a camera trained for so long on the landscape-- did you use a tripod, or a gorilla, or what?
I used an iPhone4 mounted to a tripod. Shoot with the App KitCam at 1 frame every 3 seconds. I also use a 5000 mAh external battery pack, so I could let it run all day.
What great weather we had. If it rained, I could not of done this. The iPhone's only big fault is it is sensitive to water.

JonK
