OK, this is going to seem strange to some of you, but I've lived in New England all my life and don't own a pair of winter boots. Haven't for YEARS, lol. :rotfl:

Anyways, I will be working in an office come Monday (finally have a job after raising children for 18 years!). What do women wear for boots these days? I'd prefer to avoid the galosh type look, would like something a little more professional? (is there such a thing?)

And what do you do with your heels? Carry them in a bag to work each day during snowy weather?

I also don't want to spend a fortune on winter boots that I'll only wear traipsing to and from my car with...

Thanks ladies! (and don't laugh at me, lol!) :goodvibes

As a fellow New Englander who commutes to work every day via the train, I carry my shoes with me that I plan on wearing in the office (honestly they are in my bottom filing cabinet at work :rotfl:) and wear something warm and comfortable. I have real snow boots from Lands End - I think they are the squall boots and they keep my feet very warm and toastly, I'm also getting Uggs for Christmas :rolleyes1 that I will wear on the non-snowy days just to keep my feet warm. Rarely unless it's flat shoes or my clogs do I wear my shoes to and from work that I will also wear all day.

Oooh, I never thought of just leaving my shoes at work! DUH! lol! Makes perfect sense rather than lugging them back and forth to work everyday. :goodvibes

Can Uggs not be worn in slush? Can they not get wet? I keep hearing a lot about them... why would people buy these boots if they can't be worn in winter weather?

I do. I have two pairs, one pair of tall classics and one pair of cardys. The cardys are sweater type boots, those you really can't wear in the slush, they soak right through. I've never had a problem wearing my classics getting soaked through. They are super warm and comfy, love them!

I love my Keen boots!!! They are around $100, but you'll have them forever. I had a pair of Totes and they were terrible! They are just cheaply made and not comfortable at all.

Look around for a 30-40% friends and family coupon. I have one at a different email and will post it later.
