As I am sitting here contemplating my upcoming trip in April. I was looking through some threads on what to wear/how to do hair/etc. Then I got thinking...why do we even try to look good at disney?!:confused3

I mean...
1. Who are we trying to impress? If we are single (I am) or not, are we trying to look good for men travelers we will never see again?!
2. We dress to impress and the result is we are uncomfortable in jeans, makeup, straightened hair, etc.
3. This is our vacation! Why should we worry about how we look. We are here to have fun and to relax. :hippie:

In your opinion what is the most comfortable attire at disney? I was thinking about long sports tops with built in bras and exercise shorts. Not too sure about shoes yet. As for hair (mine is curly and unmanageable) throw it up in a pony tail.

What are your tips? links would be appreciated!

I know, I know, I keep wondering this - but we have to show the pics of us at Disney to someone at home so that keeps me in line (somewhat!);) so I try to wear matching clothes....

Hey !!! I'm a hair stylist that is goin' to disney for the 21rst trip! I have a few tips for ya! Do not ever compromise & say who cares? You want pictures!!!! This is the best time to take pics!! [Besides u'll want to post some on ur facebook to reel in potential future baby daddy.; ] So look good girl! Here are a few tips to pull it off!

1.Because u have curly hair use a gel & HAIR SPRAY [key in florida]

2.Throw that hair in a wet pony, bun, whatever. Add a super cute headband! [This is GREAT for rides!!]

3.Little water proof mascara & spf chap sick.

As for what to wear I got some yoga pants capri length & capri dark jeans & cotton tops. [solid colors photograph the best]

From the point of view of a 16 year old girl, I don't care what I look like in Disney at all. Although I might not be the best example because I'm very low maintenance. I never wear make up at home and I'm a jeans and t shirt girl :) My hair is also always out of control. I do what I can with it at home, but in Disney I usually just put it in a ponytail and/or put on my Red Sox Hat :goodvibes As for clothes, shorts, t shirts, sneakers, and a hoodie if it gets cold. I recently got contacts and I've been told I look much better with them than the glasses. I'll most likely wear the contacts in Disney, not for looks, just because I like them more.
I don't know why people feel the need to look gorgeous in Disney. If you show people your pictures and they say "Wow you look awful! You should look better on vacation!" you probably don't need to be friends with them anyway :rotfl:
Mickey doesn't care what we look like. He wants us to be comfortable and happy :)

In all honesty, I do it to a point and it's because of all the pic's that will be taken on vacation. We're big picture takers, and I'd say Disney is the place we take the most pictures.

I always try to wear something flattering and to tame my hair but by an hour in, my hair is so frizzy from the heat and it's up in a ponytail and looks a wreck in all the pix. This trip I am super excited because I recently got a Keratin hair straigtening procedure and it's takes half the time to flat iron and it actually stays straight in the humidity! We'll see what happens next week.

To me it is more about looking good for me. I don't go around in sweats, and no makeup at home...I won't do it at disney. If you are a minimalist at home and that is the way you roll, that is fine and no need to go to extremes. That said , I don't wear outlandish uncomfortable clothing or ridiculous hair and make up on vacay, but I do make some sort of effort. I have a pixie hair cut , so that is minimal styling required yet very chic.I do my normal makeup , and for clothing I tend to wear comfy ,yet stylish ( and yes it does exist, you just have to look for it).I like feeling good about myself, and to me that includes appearance as well as the inside. Not to mention the 5000 pics we take on vacay, that I have to look at the rest of my life.

Yes, for me the only reason is the pics with characters!:lovestruc

I prefer loose light-colored T-shirts....they let breezes in thru the sleeves! Or cotton tanks. I am not socially comfortable in the built-in bra tops........

Good luck!

I want to be able to focus on having a great time. Because I wear full make-up for work, or pretty much any time I'm in public, I wear it at WDW too. Mainly because if I didn't I would be conscious of not having it on all day long. Now, if it gets mussed up on a water ride or something, I make sure I don't have racoon eyes, but don't put more on and I don't 'freshen' it up throughout the day either. I think it's whatever makes your trip the most magical is the way to go!!

I am all about the ponytail and I second wearing matching clothing. I never wear makeup like someone else said, but I do aim to look presentable. Of course, there are rules in our house about not photographing my mom or me. Now, my sister, on the other hand, is a totally different story, but that's why she wakes up a full half hour before me when we're in WDW.

I am all about the pics, as well, but I figure if I am miserable wearing something uncomfortable - it will be written all over my face and my pics will suck anyway! Lol.

My go-to outfit is almost identical to the OP's suggestion... Cotton, wireless bra, tank top, and mesh shorts. I coordinate with my Vera Bradley hipster and I feel fancy! Here's me on my trip last month... Oh, and I coordinated my outfits to my Tevas as well. ;)

I couldn't have said it better.:thumbsup2

I'm not trying to impress anyone. But that's just me. My hair is done, my makeup is done, and I dress a certain way. I do it at home, I do it at work, I do it on weekends.

My attire is usually a sundress. For me, most comfy, easy thing to wear.

I use Sebastian Potion 9 and Moroccan Oil to avoid frizzy hair.

You look so cute! :thumbsup2

I'm for a good moisterizer/sun screen, clean hair in a pony tail and nice light weight summer capris and tops. Minimal, neat & still stylish. If I wear the make up etc that I do every day for my job in the Northeast, I feel likes it's literally melting down my face. I'd rather the light sunscreen and tied back hair any day.

I never wear makeup and while I am at Disney, I try to wear white shirts (or light color) and black shorts or capris.....I am far from being thin, but...I am not going to look "heavy" when I am in the pictures either as I will make myself feel bad when I see them at home:) I have 25 pounds to lose before I go back, and one way or the other I am going to lose it.....anyone have a chopping block??? :) Seriously tho, as far as my hair goes, it starts out great and by the end of mid day break, well, it's not so great, but, that is ok for that time I will be out and about..good luck all you ladies with whatever you will do:) Just smile and have a great time:)

Okay, first off, LisaZee you are so adorable! I love your tops matching your shoes and bag, great colors! I try to make myself presentable because otherwise I just feel bad about myself all day. My hair starts out cute and also takes a dive midday and goes to a pony. I try to take most of our pics early in the day.:lmao: I'm a capris/shorts girl with a fitted T. I have to say I marvel at the women who have perfect hair all day. Do they ride BTTMR???:confused3

I have crazy curly hair that acts up in the heat too! The headband with a messy ponytail is a really good idea. What I do (because I dont like headbands, then hurt my head) is put my bangs and some of the front section in a french braid that goes parallel to my hairline. Put lots of hairspray on them to secure them in place. No friz at the front therefore you will look great in pictures all day! Heres an example of me rocking the braid at MK on a HOT day this June.

As for the rest of me I wear minimal makeup and usually shorts and a tee of some kind. The way I feel about it is that I like to look nice. Thats my preferance so I wake up an extra 15 minutes early to toss on some makeup and style my hair.

I like to look nice so I'm usually coordinated. My flip flops match my outfits. This past Sept was very hot, so I wore bermuda shorts & tank tops. I'm at an age where I need my makeup which is also a sun screen. My hair is a stacked bob, does not need much maintenence. I also wore my Minnie hat because of the sun. BTW, don't forget sunglasses. I did, never again.

We went in August and of course it was hot. A nice light cotton top & shorts is a must. Yes the camisoles with built in bras are great too. I worried so much before going to Disney about my flopping hair & the heat but once i was there it wasnt too bad at all and luckily my makeup never sweated down my face and my hair was ok, not great. When the heat got too bad i would just put my hair in a ponytail. The thing that saved me was my portable neck fan and going from air conditioned ride to air conditioned ride. Thats what made it very tolerable. I didnt look as bad as i thought i would. Just because you wear shorts doesnt mean you cant look good. I bought some very nice looking tops to go with my shorts and it all worked out.
