Women at disney

We were there in June during the week of record breaking heat. I gave it my all with makeup and good hair but by the time we were to the park in the morning my hair had wilted and my makeup melted. By the third day of trying I finally put my hair in a clip and wore only moiturizing sunscreen and mascara. I did do thin t top and capris. I was ther in November one year and dont remember having the problem.

I am all about the pics, as well, but I figure if I am miserable wearing something uncomfortable - it will be written all over my face and my pics will suck anyway! Lol.

My go-to outfit is almost identical to the OP's suggestion... Cotton, wireless bra, tank top, and mesh shorts. I coordinate with my Vera Bradley hipster and I feel fancy! Here's me on my trip last month... Oh, and I coordinated my outfits to my Tevas as well. ;)

I'm looking for comfortable shoes (besides my sneaks) for my December trip. Which Tevas do you recommend? I love wearing flip-flips around the house.

I like two styles - the sandals that velcro (I think I have Hurricanes and Pretty Ruggeds) and Mush (the flip flops). I am wearing both styles in the pics I posted. I pretty much switched between both sets all week, started out in one pair and brought the other pair in a backpack. They both have good arch support, which I definitely need. If you're looking for less of a sandal since you're going in December, I think they have some closed-toed styles as well. Check out www.teva.com -they should have everything.

How do you do that?!

Its just a french braid except horizonaly across instead of down the back. Start on watever side your part is and work toards the opposite side of your head. Take a small chunk of hair and divine it into three peices. Start doing a regular braid and then add more hair to each chunk as you go. Secure it with a bobby pin.

I don't go around in sweats, and no makeup at home...I won't do it at disney. If you are a minimalist at home and that is the way you roll, that is fine and no need to go to extremes........Not to mention the 5000 pics we take on vacay, that I have to look at the rest of my life.

I totally agree. I dress at Disney just like I would dress on the weekends at home. Sometimes a sundress, skirt, capris, depends on the weather. Good luck and do what feels comfortable to you. You will be more comfortable dressing how you always dress.

What's wrong with wanting to look cute? I like to always look put together. That being said, my idea of put together is bermuda shorts or capris with a pretty t or tank. I can't wear those built in bra shirts (G cup, bad idea), but I do love tanks. I love flip flops, so I always have to coordinate those somehow. I like to wear sundresses too, but we go in the winter, so those are out. Then, minimal makeup and my stick straight easy hair. I made it a lot easier for our next trip. I chopped it all off. I now have Winona Ryder (short, short, short) hair. Pretty much, wash and wear. A little gel and I should be good to go. :thumbsup2

Uno - I had the Keratin process in May - and it was awesome through 2 weeks in Florida! AMAZING!!!! You'll love it.

LisaZee - where do you pick up your mesh shorts? I'd love to check them out. I have cotton shorts I wear, but mesh would be great.

--
I do Crocs Athens flip flops, or broken in sneakers with comfy socks.

Clothes - elastic band shorts, just comfy ones -- a tank/or loose shirt - priority, my most comfortable bras! LOL

Hair - Biosilk after its' dry...but after how awesome my keratin process was back thsi summer, I'll be doing this every year before summer! Too pricey to do all year

Makeup- mineral make-up foundation, mascara, spf lip stuff

I dress in Disney how I dress at home during the summer-- khaki or similar material shorts and some kind of tank or tee-shirt. We went during August this year, and I was fine with Ralph lauren light cotton or Old Navy (such a good buy!) cotton, plain v-necks. I wore black reefs, which matched everything I wore (I am all about bright colors/navy with black!)
I got up an hour before we would leave the room in order to shower, straighten my hair and put on make up. The make up was a slightly dumbed down version of what I do at home-- eyeliner, mascara, tiny bit of concelear, minerals foundation, and blush (skipped the eyeshadow/liquid foundation). I am a make up junkie and would feel sleepy looking/uncomfortable if I wasn't properly made up with nice hair. Only one day was hot enough to warrant a mid-day pony tail. I carried q-tips in my VB hipster to erase "raccoon eyes."
When we went back to our resort in the middle of the day to rest, I would refresh my hair with a straightener, fix my make up, and change into a sundress (super comfortable!) for dinner!
It's worth it to me to dress up a bit because 1) I like planning outfits before I leave haha 2) I'm more comfortable 3) I want good pictures and 4) It's what I do at home, so why would I do any less at Disney?

Nothing fancy here either, but I did try to put on eyeliner and mascara each day and tame my hair into a claw clip or pony, mostly because of pictures.

I kid you not, I saw a woman in high heels in MK. I was like WTH is she thinking?

I have seen them too.I saw a women in a white mini-dress, with stilettos, every piece of jewelry she owned on, fully made up face, and designer bag( I carry a designer bag too, just not at disney). You had to see this woman try and get on rides ..it was hysterical. It was real bad when she got off splash, she was see thru too.I kept thinking, you can be stylish without being uncomfortable and looking ridiculous. She evidently hadn't learned that.MY Dh said he would not only laugh at me if I did that, but he wouldn't walk anywhere near me either.

LisaZee - where do you pick up your mesh shorts? I'd love to check them out. I have cotton shorts I wear, but mesh would be great.

I bought mine at Champion online - www.championusa.com

It was the only place I could find decent plus size shorts that didn't have like a foot long inseam. When you're only 5'2", anything longer than about a five inch inseam is a bermuda short. And if you're pudgy, every clothing brand assumes you MUST be tall. Lol.

They were awesome - dried quickly in the rain and coming off the rides, didn't ride up on me, and were SO comfy.

Thanks LisaZee -- I get their catalog, so I must have overlooked them. I'm going to check them online. I hear ya -- I hate super long inseams on shorts. I have short legs!

Thanks for the tip :) looks like they have an outlet store here in Orlando. I will definitely check those out. I love my J Jill linen shorts for comfiness but they are a mess of wrinkles after a few hrs.

My last Disney trip was at the end of April, and I spent every day in cotton shorts, a fitted tee, and sneakers. I am definitely a speed walker, so the support of sneakers was key for me.

I loved reading how everyone does...or doesn't do their hair. I use Disney as an excuse to wear pigtails, or just let my hair do what it wants. My hair is naturally wavy, bordering on curly, and long, so I just go with it!

When Dh and I went on our last trip ( Sept 08 ) I realized that it was too hot for anything other than a dusting of mineral makeup, a swipe of mascara and a pigtail/ baseball hat combo.

Our next trip is in January, and I am hoping that it is cool enough for regular makeup/ hair routine. Do any Floridians/ Jan travelers know if I will be able to straighten my chin length bob? I was planning with my hair dresser to grow it out long enough to put up in a pony tail, and to be able to pin my bangs back just in case.

I was thinking of just wearing jeans with T shirts and hoodies with my cute guess sneakers like I do on the weekends at home. I want to look casual yet cute in the pics!
