Wolfgang Puck's Cafe: Surcharge items?

Ok, I just booked a PS (AR) at Wolfgang Puck's Cafe and we have the MYW with dining. I know it is a new addition to the list and I noticed the note about the surcharge on some items. Does anyone know which items, or how that works?

And I wonder if on those surcharge items if the 15% discount from the AAA diamond card would apply?

Just curious...

Entrees will be covered up to $27.00; anything beyond that, guest will pay.

Any/all sushi and sashimi will be considered an entree, whether it's a 2 piece order, a roll or a platter. Again, anything beyond $27 will be at guest's expense. (However, part of this rule is being reconsidered.)

The appetizer, dessert and non-alc beverage are not affected.

The above per W.P. management (Levy Restaurants) this past week. Neither WDW nor Levy had their act together on what the "exception" applied to prior to the revised brochure being made public nearly 2 weeks ago.

I don't know whether or not the AAA discount will be applicable, sorry.

TT

I scoped out the menu albeit an old one on www.allearsnet.com. I couldn't find much over the $27.00 mark for entrees. Upstairs is a different story :goodvibes but I do not believe that restaurant is on the plan.

Anybody been to the cafe lately?

Thanks,
penny

Thanks for the info!

And the upstairs isn't on the plan. When I made my PS they put it for the upstairs and then she asked me if it was ok that it wasn't on the dining plan... so I quickly had them move it downstairs. :cool1:

I've never eaten there so I'm lookin forward to it.

That menu is more current (the one at Allears is from 2003).
The only item on the menu over 27 is the NY Strip and its 31.95, so I hope that info is correct.

Are you sure it's only 27 towards the entree and not 27 total?
I just added up the things I might would order and the total was $43.40 +drink +tax +gratuity.... so we'd be talking almost $50...

Thanks Vascubaguy! It's great to get an updated menu. It is similar but always nice to be current. :goodvibes

Here's my question: We are doing a Cirque show at 6 p.m. I was thinking of dining BEFORE the show, which means that I need to eat around 4 p.m. or so. And it will be Thanksgiving day!

Anybody know what the serving hours are?

Thanks,
penny

I found some info:

The Puck site lists cafe hours as 11:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. BUT it says it only takes PSs or whatever they are now called for dinner. An exception on Thanksgiving Day??? I sure hope so.

Where did you see it listed that they only take PS (AR's) for dinner? I didn't see anything that mentioned the Disney reservations on the puck site.

On the Dining Plan Brochure it still indiciates Lunch or Dinner.

Are you familiar with the PS calculator? :goodvibes LOVE that thing!!!

Wolfgang Puck Cafe is listed as a 60 day PS, dinner only.

I also made a PS for dinner at WP's Upstairs Dining Room last April during a solo trip.

Hrmm... if it's dinner only, disney needs to update the MYWD restaurant brochure.

Oh well, I have my dinner reservation for downstairs set so I'm good to go.... can't wait to gorge myself on all this food! :cool1: Although, after looking at all these menus, I'm not sure what I'll order... so many choices! :confused3 And the NY strip does sound pretty good, but i'll have to wait and see what my taste buds are craving at the time. Based on my restaurant picks, I might be steaked out by then.

Vascubaguy,

Okay, just checked another source! The 2005 Passporter lists PSs available for the Cafe all day long. It's just the PS Calculator that lists PSs only available for dinner.

What did the MYWD say exactly? I have not seen an official copy.

Thanks,
penny

It's says, "Wolfgang Puck's Cafe (L,D) Payment of a surcharge is required for certain entrees" and it marked as a regular Table Service.
