Which do you recommend for a nice evening out without the kids? Haven't been to either one. How is the atmosphere at Wolfgang Puck's?

Especially for dinner, Wolfgang Puck is busy, crowded and loud. California Grill has an open kitchen so it is not exactly quiet either but it would be my choice for a special dinner. The whole atmosphere is quite a bit more special and the view is wonderful. And while we enjoy the food at WPC, it is not on a par with CG IMO.

Should add the Pucks "fine dining" upstairs is a lot less noisy (and full of kids) than downstairs. We had dinner their last year and it was pretty good. They have their own kitchen and a menu different from the one downstairs. Also have a view (albeit NOT like the one from CG!!) of the DD lake area.
Reviews of California Grill abound, but not so Wolfgangs. Here's a link to a review of our dinner there:

Did your original post have Cafe in it or did I read too fast? :rotfl2:

Because Uncleromulus is right (of course ;) ). The Dining Room at WP is much more quiet. In fact, it is as quiet as the wine room at CG. Good food as well although not the variety of CG. But if you are choosing between the Dining Room and CG, either are good choices for a special dinner. CG would get my vote in part because of the setting and in part because the menu has more variety.

Been to Pucks twice and Cali Grille 5 times.

cali Grille is hands down a better dinning experience in both food and atmosphere.
