Just got back last night from a week long trip to DL/SoCal. It really was great, and I'm sure I'll have plenty to say about it. But first, I have to talk about what we thought was the best.
The new Christmas version of World of Color - Season of Light - was nothing short of amazing. *Spoilers Coming*
I'm going to make a bold statement here: Disneyland Resort finally has something that can match up with Illuminations over at Epcot. To me, Illuminations is the standard by which all nighttime shows must be measured. And Season of Light got pretty stinking close to matching its intensity, music, and visual appeal.
It has some Christmas music and songs all throughout the performance, but it also has some great original score which is what separates it from the original WOC versions. And it seems the Imagineers have finally figured out how to match fog, spray, tall and short water jets, and laser lighting to make the perfect water scenes. Not just a bunch of colored water jets blowing anymore. This show has evolved into something special.
As for scenes....The Trans-Siberian Orchestra piece where Goofy is hanging Christmas ornaments may be the finest work Disney has ever done. It was AMAZING. And the "Let there be Peace on Earth" near the end was breathtaking. They could play this version all year and I'd never get tired of it. It's just that good. Make sure you catch this show.
