I don't know what happened to my original post... but I'll try again. We're planning for 2005 - two weeks in a two bedroom and are hoping we'll be able to get WLV at the 7 month window for early Dec. We really wanted Oct. but a school fund-raiser is in the way.

Soo, we'd love to see the holiday decorations - but I'm wondering if any of you have been at that time do your kids swim? Mine love the water part of the trip so much I'd hate to miss out on it - but I'm worried it'll be too cold.

Also, do you think I'd have any trouble getting in at 7 months durning that time frame? It is the slow season and we'd love to try this location (we own at BWV).

Any and all input appreciated!

Thanks!

Good luck getting a room at WLV during that time. I called at the 7 month window for a 2 bedroom for Dec 4 to 11 and I am on the waiting list. It is a very busy time for DVC because points are so low and the Christmas decorations are up. I would book your home resort and try to change at the 7 month window.

Unfortunately it is very tough to get a 7 month reservation at WLV for the holiday season, Sorry to say. But you can always wait list. We have WLV points and tried to get a 2 bedroom at 10 months out and there was no luck, we have been on the waitlist.
But don't stop trying... you never know!

Called about 1 month ago for a studio at VWL (not our home resort) for Dec 23-28. It was available!!! The MS operator was as surprised as I was. I had a big backup list ready, but didn't need it. The weird thing was, there were no studios available at OKW. I don't know about the other resorts - I didn't have to ask. Go figure.

We also got a studio for early Dec. not too long ago (well after the 7 month mark). It makes me think that studios may be easier to get than two bedrooms.

Good luck,

We are just the opposite - wanted to get into BWV this December and couldn't get a two bedroom at 7 months so we had to stick with our ressies at VWL....

Beca you got a studio at VWL reserved less than 7 months for early December - boy I am very impressed.

I didn't think this was possible.

we are talking about Dec 1 -14 right?

you are very lucky person!!!!

the later part of Dec is not hard to do - most DVC members do not like to be at WDW when it is crowded - the closer to Dec 25 the more the crowds can be.

OKW is generally still possible - but I thought even it was completely taken.

VWL is often the first to fill for the early December - it is a very popular resort for that time of the year.

It will beautiful!!!!

Yes...we got it for Dec 3 & 4 a few weeks ago. I was shocked, but the CM didn't seem to be! I thought it was very strange!

We just got a 2br at VWL this week....for Dec. 13-17. We're waitlisted for the 12th.

Being that VWL is one of our home resorts, we had already had a 1br booked for that week and still have the 12th in the 1br. So hopefully someone's waitlist for a 1br came through.

Maybe the waitlist for that 2br will come through for both of us at once bcvprincesses!

Oh, and in 2002 we were at WDW from Thanksgiving through the 12th of Dec.....we wore winter coats some days, went swimming others....and got drenched on a few other days! I think we had every kind of weather possible. In Jan 2002 we had 2 weeks of very nice weather....so you never know.

Couldn't you transfer with an owner at VWL to get the 11 month window, while giving another owner the 11 month window for BWV? Is this a difficult thing to do?

Yes, you could do that - make the reservations for each other. IMHO, the only "difficult" thing about it would be finding the other owner to trade with!

Best wishes -

And, also...isn't there something in the contract that you can only trade points one direction each year? You can either trade points out of your account, or into your account, but not both.

I'm still really new, so someone PLEASE correct me if I am wrong. I thought this clause was specifically to inhibit people from doing just that. We have good friends who said they would "make ressies" for us using their points and then we could reciprocate...but, if you don't know the person, that requires a lot of trust, and can get confusing if the points usages are not equal.

I would LOVE to be interpreting this incorrectly...hopefully one of the intelligent people on this board can clarify this or clear it up.

Yes, you can only transfer in one direction per year - either transfer points out of your account or accept points into your account.

No matter how you arrange to "trade reservations/points", there will have to be trust involved.

SoCalKDG was suggesting that the VWL owner make a reservation at VWL for the BWV owner, and that the BWV owner make a reservation at BWV for the VWL owner.

If the reservations did not require the same number of points, one party would transfer the difference (in points) to the other party. That would only be a one direction transfer for both. Still requires trust.

CarolMN...thanks for clearing that up. But, by reading SoCalKDG's post above, he mentions "transfer" not "making ressies for each other". I'm not sure, but I think he may be talking about actually "transferring" points.

Thanks again for clearing that up!!!
