So we made the plunge to switch from POFQ to Wilderness Lodge... and along the way from Standar view to Woods VIEW:cool1:
What is this going to actually be?
Also what room.... floor... side should be request!

Please share and any WL advice would be much loved and appreciated!

Woods View is a good choice. Ask for castle side. That way you may be able to see the fireworks from your balcony. In 2003 we had 3rd floor woods view and it just happened to be that the trees opened up and we could see the castle from our room. Since then, the trees have gotten huge. Even from the 7th floor now you can hardly see the castle from room 7085. Actually you couldn't see the castle, just the fireworks, but it was awesome!

We could see fireworks through the trees from the third floor woods view on the north side (castle side) in January, but I would ask for a higher floor (4th or 5th) to see even better. I think that there are some smoking rooms on the 6th floor, so that might be something to consider (we didn't want smoking). Maybe someone else knows if that is still the case.

Our woods view was of the villas we were on the 3rd floor. It was nice but dh wanted to be up higher.

I also noticed about the woods view castle side... the further back you are towards the lake, the better the view. We realized this by taking the elevator back by the washing machine room and walking to our room towards the front, there were windows (past the presidential suites) that you can see the castle from, so they are better views,

We were on the 6th floor (if I remember correctly) and we could see the tip of the castle and the monorail as it went by. It was pretty cool!

Woods view could mean that you face the Villas and see some trees or it could mean that you see nothing but trees. One of the best views that we've ever had at the WL was overlooking the service entrance. We had a wonderful view of the Castle and Space Mountain and we able to watch the fireworks each night while sipping sodes, in our refillable mugs, on the balcony while the kids slept. So nice and peaceful. :)

Of course I don't think you can go wrong at the WL regardless of where your room is.

I would also suggest a woods view room overlooking the "otter pond" which is toward the MK. A couple of years ago I had room 5034 which had a great view between the trees of the MK. Dec. of last year and last month I had rooms 5026 and 5028 which had some trees in the way of a clear view of the MK, but you could still see the fireworks very well. Last month I did see the otters in the pond. I would suggest either the 4th or 5th floor. I believe the 6th floor has a solid balcony. When you make your reservations ask for a room that you want and they will do their best to fill your wish.

Last night I asked for Non Smoking.... MK side, upper floors. I am a little concerned because we arrive late... after 10pm and hope that won't make our room requests null... should I call that morning the WL directly to reconfirm that we are coming and arriving late and ask where my room is??? or will that make them mad?

:confused3

I don't think calling will do any good. Even if they told you a room number (which I don't think they would do), it could always be bumped by another check-in CM. Your room number won't be final until you walk away with the key!
