I have seen some discussions relating to the choice between a 1 br unit and the WL and most responses have been to take the 1 br. What is the consensus on WL vs. studio. What are the advantages / disadvantages of each. If we rent points, the pricing comes out similar for both for the week. I know we won't have daily housekeeping and that is not a concern.

Thank you for any thoughts on this matter.

In the studio you will have a mini fridge and a microwave. Coffee pot too. I would personally take the studio. I have stayed in both. The studio also comes with a sofa bed so during the day you can fold it up and have a little more room.
On the down side most studios don't have a wonderful view, but maybe your room wouldn't either.
In the studio you will be closer to the buses, in a room closer to the MK boat.
In the studio, yuo can have breakfast everyday to save money. We even had lunch there a few times. The little bit of counter space and the fridge are wonderful to have.

Whichever you choose, you will be at WDW

We have stayed at VWL several times - the Lodge none. So I only have a one sided opinion. The Villas are closer to the buses - you do have to walk a little farther to the boat to MK, but it's a nice walk either through the lodge or around the pool. The villas are also close to the gift shop (for groceries) and the arcade. The walk to the main lodge is all covered - so you don't have to worry about rain.

I have read on these boards that the walls are thin in the Lodge. We have never heard a single sound at the villas. Maybe the insulation is better.

I have stayed at the WL, but not in the villas. (But I have stayed in a studio at the BCV, BWV and OKW.) The standard rooms at the WL are small--I think the same size as CBR. There are 2 queen size beds, so not much room to move around. To me, these rooms are nothing special. (The lobby is gorgeous! Rooms are just ok. JMHO)

As previously posted, a studio will have a kitchenette, which to me, is wonderful! Breakfast, snacks, drinks, leftovers. I, too, vote for the studio. :bounce:

hi: another vote for the studio. we've stayed at the WL a few times before the VWL opened. we usually stay in a 1 or 2 br at BWV. the studio will give you a bit more room than a std room as well as the kitchenette amenities.

Depends on your personal preference and what's important to you. If view is important and you want to see the pool, geyser and lake, the courtyard view at the Lodge will give you this. Most studios have a woods view, but there are a very few pool/lake views.

If there's just 2 of you, it could be very nice to have a couch to sit on. If you have more than 2 in the room, you're going to have to use the couch for sleeping, if that matters to you.

Have a great trip! WL and VWL are our favorites.

You will have daily housekeeping if you pay cash for a stay in a DVC resort. If you stay on points, you will only get trash and towels on day 4 or full cleaning on day 4 if you stay at least 8 days.
