Five of us stayed in a 2BR villa in 2007 and loved it. Sept 2009 will be 2 adults and a 9 year old in a studio. We won't be spending much time there (eat breakfast, sleep, rest here and there) so I didn't figure we needed the extra room and other amenities. Is there really much difference between a studio and a larger villa if we're going to be spending most of our time in the parks or the pool?

I also read a recent report about noise levels at deluxe resorts being among the loudest at the WL Villas. I personally found the 2BR's very quiet. Are the studios any different?

I've moved this thread to the DVC boards. Hopefully someone here can answer your questions. :)

Smaller space and no kitchen. The Studios are mixed in with the other rooms. If your last room was quiet, the Studio shouldn't be any different. The noise level is determined by your selfish neighbors, not the resort.

Also no washer/dryer in the room. I also support the comment that noise is more about your neighbors than anything else. Although, the Unofficial Guide did discover that noise levels are lower in any resort whose doors open to the outside. Disney uses better, more insulated doors to cut heating/cooling costs when that door is exposed to the outside. For most deluxe hotels that open to the hallway, they use a less insulated (read: cheaper) door because heating/cooling is less of an issue.

VWL is a beautiful, well kept resort. For some reason we are on the list for T&T everyday.

The Mousekeepers won't stop bringing us towels and they don't want to take them back. According to Mousekeeping it's some kind of computer glitch.

Moving to BWV 2-Bedroom, Boardwalk View tomorrow for a week. Our DD arrives tomorrow night.

Wow, what great pics! I thought they were the pics Disney puts up for all to see! My first stay is in 6 mos. Thanks for posting.....love BWV, hope you have a great rest of your trip!

We were in a studio at VWL last January for 4 nights. We're a family of 3 so we always use a studio to save on points. I do not have any pics of the inside of the room tho 'cuz we got there really late and just sort of crashed after we checked in. By the time I thought of taking pics the next day we'd already slung our stuff all over the place so I didn't take any 'cuz it just would've looked sloppy.

ANYWAY, I thought it was quite spacious actually. There were 2 nice sized closets and I think double sinks but I might be making that up in my mind. The toilet & tub were in their own room which I like much better than them being all in one room like at OKW. The kitchenette counter area was also bigger than at OKW - it was longer - more space. Since we were also out at the parks the majority of the time we just left the sofa bed out and it was not in our way - there was room to push the coffee table over inbetween the pull-out and the sliding door. There were 2 luggage rack stand things which I liked as I don't usually unpack & move in (partially 'cuz I'm lazy and don't want to RE-pack and partially 'cuz it's a heebie jeebie thing for me to put my "stuff" where somebody else's "stuff" has been)! So anyway, I am someone who really appreciate those stands.

To date we have only done studios at OKW, AKV and VWL. While we LOVE AKV we also LOVED VWL - I cannot fairly compare those 2 tho as our studio at AKV was one of the "value" ones - quite nice, but very small. You will do just fine in a studio at VWL if you're out most of the time! (Oh, and our room was very quiet!):thumbsup2

Thanks for your VWL comments! We will be a family of 3 adults post a cruise for 3 days. No parks, but plan on doing the wilderness segway tour. I really like the fact that VWL studios have a coffee table. I'll probably close up the sleep sofa, and let the DS lounge on our bed. Wished I had enough points for the one bedroom! Anyhoo.....this will be our first stay, so I am psyched!:wizard: Plan on lots of pool time, and will be on DDP so am wondering if we should do the TS at VWL or not. Sounds like the studio is layed out pretty nice!

Check my signature block. I prefer king sized beds and the studios only have a queen and a double sleeper sofa (except for OKW that has two queen beds). No washer and dryer. No real kitchen. No separate shower, only the shower/tub combo like most people have at home.

There is at least one studio at VWL that does not have a balcony. Another has a great view of the dumpster.

Yeah, I read that. I requested to be close to the elevator, so as to at least circumvent the dreaded dumpster view! Hope it works!

Our recent stay in a VWL studio was the quietest hotel room stay we've ever had! We were so pleasantly surprised. I forgot to pack our sound machine but we didn't need it at all. In general I thought the whole VWL had a peaceful air about it. Hope it's the same for you :)

We knew not to stay in xx60 or xx62 to avoid the dumpster view. Of course, we received 2061 on the other side of the hallway. :rotfl2: DH figured we had a 1/8 of a mile walk from the elevator to our room. It was quiet and clean. And we enjoyed our VWL stay.

I don't think close to the elevators will yield the optimum results at VWL.

We stayed in room 3514 last April. It is a dedicated one bedroom right around the corner from the elevator. People are LOUD when they get off of the elevator. L-O-U-D!!!

And, the view, while not a dumpster was the top of the walkway leading to the main lodge.

Perhaps just asking for an upper floor off of that rotunda would help? We got very lucky on our first trip I guess as we were the first studio on the 5th floor on the lake side as you exit the rotunda but before you started down that LONG hallway...it was the perfect spot!

Honestly, you just never know what your neighbors will be like from one day to the next. Elevators aside, we did back-to-back cruises on the Wonder last summer and on the 4 n cruise we didn't hear a PEEP from anyone! We stayed in the same cabin and on the 3 nighter the noise was HORRID!! There was a family forward of us with a bunch of little girls who ran the ship unsupervised the whole time. They ran and did cartwheels and jumped up & down & screamed - and at all hours! Never saw them with an adult. We had a dry erase board on our door for messages that we found profanity on about 3 different times...we do not think this came from these little girls 'cuz they were like 5 - 10 years old so there was someone else staying forward of us that we considered to be less than desirable neighbors. We actually have decided that we will never do another 3 nighter after that experience. It was a totally different crowd - very noticable. So even if you stay near the elevators, it might be that your noise level could come & go depending on who checks in & who leaves during your stay.

I found this resort to be exceptionally QUIET. Stayed there during marathon week in January and there were lots of guests but not lots of noise.

This isn't specific to one resort, but I've found that the studios with the connecting door (part of a lockoff 2-BDR) can be noisy if you have less-than-considerate neighbors. I haven't tried it, but some have suggested stuffing towels between the connecting doors to muffle the sound.

There are some dedicated studios at VWL. I've gotten them a few times, once at the end of the really long hallway, and twice at the end of the little wing that goes back towards the main resort. Those are wonderful....they're ultra-quiet, and if you go out the exit door by your room, you're literally a few steps from the lodge and the buses.
