WL to AKL for Breakfast

Hi all,

Does anybody know about how long by either bus or taxi, it takes to get the Animal Kindgom Lodge from WL? I was thinking of planning a final departure breakfast at Boma and just wanted to figure out if I could make it or not.

Resort-to-resort trips for breakfast can be tricky and time consuming using Disney transportation. You need to get to a park where you can transfer to a bus to AKL. Getting to the park in the morning isn't the problem, as there are plenty of buses, but buses from parks back to resorts are pretty much non-existant at that time of day. It winds up being a matter of finding some bus that will deviate from its planned route to take you to AKL. People have reported being successful in catching a bus to AK and getting the driver to drop them at AKL before or after the park stop. It's hit or miss, however.

In your case I would recommend a cab. You're looking at one of the longest trips you can take within WD, unfortunately, which probably means a 15-20 minute cab ride and a fare in excess of $20 each way.

I like Boma for breakfast, but....I wouldn't kill myself to get there. Have you considered having breakfast at closer restaurants??

Yeah, I actually have a ressie at Kona. I was thinking of changing it but now I'm gonna stay with it. I also have ressies for Tusker House and Jiko, so maybe Boma would be overkill anyway.

Actually, there are lots of buses going from AK to AKL in the a.m. So even if the bus from WL cannot drop the OP there, it would probably be less than a 10-minute wait at AK for a bus that will.

Travel time:

• 00:20 wait at WL
• 00:20 to AK (with a stop at GF)
• 00:10 wait at AK
• 00:10 to AKL Jambo (with a stop at Kidani)

1 hour total, or 30-40 minutes if the first bus drops you off.

We love Boma for breakfast and use Disney transportation to get there from the Grand Floridian. We take the monorail to the MK and get an AKL bus from there. To return, we take the AKL to the MK and go back to the GF via boat or monorail. So from the WL you can take the bus or boat to the MK and then hop a bus to the AKL. It usually takes at least 30 minutes to make the trip, but it's never been more than 45. The buses run so frequently in the morning from hotels to the MK, it is actually an easier to get there in the AM than later in the day.

Guys.....here's the issue. This is the OPs last day..he leaves WDW that day. I'm not exactly sure what time the flight is, but it would seem to be on the late morning/early afternoon side..at least that's the asumption I'm making. So....even though it's doable to get to AKL and back to WL again, it's iffy if you have to leave for the airport. It's never a good idea to cut it too closely.
You need to assume it's going to take you an hour to get from resort to resort, so there go 2 hrs of the morning..coming and going. Much better idea to eat closer to WL.

If you are using Magical Express back to the airport, shoot to be back at your own resort (here, WL) an hour before the DME bus time.

Not so much from AK to AKL. The reason is that many buses that drop off at AK then go to AKL to pick up for another park. In addition, the AK dispatcher keeps a close eye on the AKL load zone because there are so many guests going to Boma for breakfast.

Goofy4, you're right. My flight leaves at 3:45, so I'd have to be back at WL by no later than 12:30 or so. I think I would have time (if I took a cab back), but it's probably a lot of travel time just to eat at Boma. I'd rather spend that extra hour or two hanging out in MK.

I would be back at WL no later than 12:00 for a 3:45 flight.
