WL Sunrise Terrace Being Remodeled

DH and I went to the WL Sunrise Terrace yesterday to get a picture for our 1st anniversary and were in shock to see it all tore up and covered in scaffolding! I'm sure they're only making it better but I wanted to give a "heads up" to WL brides to check with your EM and make sure it will be done before your wedding. I was a little disappointed to not be able to go on the Terrace for pictures

Awwww that's too bad that you didn't get to have your pictures taken. I know that WL needs the refurb but it is still disappointing when it is taking place during your vacation.

Sorry to hear that you couldn't get your pics taken on the terrace! Hey Jen, any idea when the remodel is due to be completed? I really do not want to stay there with it looking like that!

It was a little disappointing, but we did get a cute picture anyway. I don't know how long it will last? I'm sure if you call the resort directly a CM can tell you. Since we were just on a day-trip I didn't bother to ask. I wouldn't miss staying there just because of the remodel. I'm sure they're not putting guests in rooms on that side of the resort. In fact, we had breakfast out by the pool and wouldn't even have known any remodeling was going on - it was still picture-perfect out there. The only real downside is that the bridge in the lobby is partially blocked and the terraces are all closed off, but the resort itself is still gorgeous!

I talked to my planner about the construction as our ceremony is on Dec. 5. She said they would move the ceremony to an alternate location within the hotel if the construction was still going on. I really hope that it is completed before we get there. Really wanted pictures on the bridge...

I just got an email from my coordinator...she said it should be completed by the end of this month...

This is NOT good. I get married in 27 days at SBP but am honeymooning at WL. All of my guests are staying there and we are doing pictures there and everything!!!

I am going to have to e-mail my coordinator- better yet call her on the phone and find out about this! I will let you know what I hear!

Okay couldnt get ahold of Tanis right away so I took it upon myself to call WL. They are so clueless there. The lady had to call someone else and ask them about the construction -as if she couldnt look over the corner and see it for herself. She said it was only the "screen" and nothing else-- lol clearly in your pictures there is more to the story than that.

And to beat it all- they have no estimated finished date. Oh well... Sorry guys!

Dang, maggimus. I really hope they have the remodeling done by your wedding. I am crossing my fingers for you. I called reservations, and the guy there said that all he was aware of in the lobby was repairing a fountain. When I asked about the scaffolding he was clueless. Him--"Scaffolding? Is there scaffolding? I was there three weeks ago, and I didn't see any scaffolding." I am wondering if he knows what scaffolding is. Bless his heart. But he did say that he did not have any "notices" or "alerts" about a major re-do, as is common when they do a huge lengthy remodel/renovation.

I am going to email my coordinator as well as ask Rosie in floral about it, since we were supposed to talk soon anyway. I will post when I have any feedback.

PS: I also think SOMEONE must have a finish date for the construction--good Lord! Who do they think they are? The highway dept?

Haha! You crack me up !

Thats like when I called the front desk and she had to call someone and ask what was being done (HELLO? Can you not look over the persons shoulder to your right and see what is happening ?). You would think cast members, especially working the desk would be aware. I really love WL and hope it is finished.
Disney can be quick about things - lets hope they are with this.
I asked her about scaffolding as well (Since the pictures dictated so).... and... she had no idea. She could only tell me something about a "screen". I would like the bridge area to be cleaned up and also the back of the resort by my November 14th wedding.
