Well, our final payment is due today and we have pushed it to 10:30PM to make the resort decision once and for all. Who knew deciding on a resort at Disney would be so exhausting?!:scratchin

So, WL it is! Now I need to finalize the reservation including room requests. I realize I need to list the most important requests first, but we basically want be centrally located. I prefer to be close to buses, but also to Roaring Forks, The Mercantile and laundry. Are these things even in the same general area of the hotel?:confused3 (I know...I just need to ask for the perfect room in the perfect location.) I don't care about being close to the pool or if I can see the fireworks from my balcony. I would like to have an open balcony though. We have a WVBB room booked and I would like an upper floor. Are the rooms facing the lobby the best to request?

Any input will be much appreciated!!:flower3:

Hi, we just spent 12 nights in a courtyard view room - we had an amazing time, but the thing that I realised is that you can't be close to everything!!

Our room number was 6111 and our elevators brought us out very close to the Mercantile and the walk down to the buses, but we were a longer walk to Roaring Forks, the laundry and the boats.

It's a big place, and we were very happy with our position, but I think that you can never be close to all of the things at WL, because they are spread over the resort! :)

We've done over 10 stays at WL, in both the north and south wing.....the resort is compact enough and fairly easy to navigate but one side over the other are the transportation issues.....north wing, you're closest to Roaring Forks and boat to MK....south wing, you're close to the bus depot..we prefer the north wing for the QS and boat and being out to the pool....

Our last stay, 9-10-2011 we were on the 6th floor and our balcony was closed in.....can't see when sitting down but it was great as we had a 18 month old toddler with us and it was very secure.....we spent moost of our resort time at the pool and were closest to the kiddee pool.

We really don't care to be in the main lobby rooms....no reason but prefer the wings..though you can't be really be in a bad location at all....didn't care for the location of the villas but that's another issue...

I have read that some of the north wing woods-view rooms that extend from the lobby to the lake can have partial MK/firework views... only a few, though. As a PP mentioned, you will be closer to Roaring Fork and the boat dock in the north wing.

I would request a north wing room overlooking Otter Pond on an upper floor (but not top floor since those are enclosed balconies). You may also want to request being near an elevator if quick access to the lobby is important to you.

Hi, WL experts:

Are north wing rooms away from the early-morning delivery trucks I keep reading about? I don't care about being far away from the lobby or boat dock, but I do want to be nowhere near the beeping trucks!

Thanks for any info. Much appreciated.

best room I ever had at the lodge? Here is my trip report from a few years ago..this room was right near the lobby..no elevators, bus was right down the way and if you went out the side door in the hall, you were across from Roaring Forks and the pool..it was an AMAZING ROOM!

Got room #2113 which, I must say, I thought I would be disappointed with being on the ground floor, but was REALLY surprised. The Creek came out of the lobby right in front of our room. The bridge across to RF and the pool was about 4 doors down and we were steps away from the busses. Really!! A great location!!

North wing closer to the main building, that's west are the ones by the service area.....north wing south end are closer to the otter pond and no service vehicles making deliveries......though the vehicles never bothered us with the drapes closed.......

If you are in the north wing with a standard view room, it is very possible that you may hear the beeping trucks. It is less likely if you are in a woods view room and impossible if you are in a courtyard view room. The woods view rooms right off the lobby (above WCC) are much more likely to be noisy... I can confirm since we had a woods view room above WCC and heard the trucks in the morning. If you are worried about it and are booked in a woods view room, just make sure you request a room in the north wing that is further out toward Bay Lake. I would imagine that all south wing woods view rooms are fairly quiet, but cannot confirm since we have not stayed on that side before.

Pepe and mariamouse:

Thanks so much for your help.

We have a woods view room booked. I'll ask for north wing with an Otter Pond view--that's far away from the trucks, right? Or maybe I'll just say "as far away from the service area as possible."

I'm a city girl, but I wouldn't be able to deal with the noise of the backing-up, beeping trucks in the early morning, which is when we intend to be asleep!

not only do you hear the trucks in the north wing, you could hear the lobby noise.

I asked for a "bear face" room once..it was great but I could hear the hum of the lobby

DisneyDmbNut:

So, are you saying I shouldn't ask for a room in the north wing, even one near the Otter Pond?

This is making me think that maybe I should upgrade to a courtyard view. I think it's only $20 more/night during our stay--the 2nd week in December--assuming anything would be available.

I'm so confused now!

If you get the otter pond, it is very quiet..I have had a room right over it

For $20 more..courtyard would be worth it IF you can get a bear face or 2113 area..I am always afraid of what Standard is at WL..but having said that..I have never gotten a bad room at WL!

No worries! She is only referring to those woods view rooms in the north wing that are directly off the lobby. The majority of woods view rooms are further away from the lobby where you want to be. You can always ask at check-in to switch rooms if you are unhappy with where they have placed you. I am pretty confident, though, that the request to be away from the lobby/truck noise will be easily granted.

Have a great time at the WL! It is supposed to be gorgeous in December. We had a tough time choosing the GF over the WL for our trip at the same time! :santa:

Thanks, everyone!

I'm relieved now. We're 60 days out--just enough days that it seems like both forever and 20 minutes from now, so I thought it was time to start driving myself crazy! :goodvibes

Thanks for all of the input folks! I guess I'll stick with the requests that I currently have which are; N. Wing, near RF & upper floor. If I say for the room near RF...does that also cover the "near the lobby" request, or should I add that too?

The RF request should cover it!
