Hey all!

So as some of you know, I fell head over heels in love with the WL this July. I've not had much experience with the resort so I was hoping you might share with me some information.

If Disney makes some things right in response to my email to guest communications (see trip report for more info -- linked in sig) then I want to return there for my honeymoon. The planned dates are Checking in May 26, 2008 and checking out June 1, 2008...so 6 nights.

I have both AAA and an AP...I'm trying to do some budgeting for the honeymoon and wondering if any of you vets could fill me in on what a room might cost?

What are some typical rates? Standard view is fine with us...hoping for a King Bed.

Share your rates and what you think I might have to pay for such a room!

Thank you!

Cheers,
Josh

It's hard to predict, since the 2008 rates aren't out yet and they are changing their pricing structure as well. I do know (because I just looked it up yesterday for someone) that typically the AP discounts for that time period come out in late February. So if you have a particular room type you are interested in, I would book it as soon as the AAA discounts are released (usually late summer) so you at least get some discount, then keep your eyes open for the AP discounts in early 2008.

There are NO king bed rooms in standard view. You must pay for a woods view room and then request a king bed. Remember, it's just a request; there's no guarantee that you will get a king bed room. Also, some of the king rooms have an accessible bathroom (no tub, just a shower). I'm not sure if that matters to you, but it's another thing to consider.

We just got back from the WL. I had booked a woods view room with a request for a king bed and a non-accessible bath. We got both requests, and we were upgraded to a courtyard view.

Good luck with your planning.

I'm 99% sure this is incorrect..there are some King Bed Standard View Rooms...on Disney's site, if you select the Standard View Room option, the description reads "Contains either 2 queens or one king bed"....and when I checked in in July 07 with a standard view rate, I was initially sent to a room with a king bed, over looking the parking lot.

I'm mostly just curious about past rates and what I might be able to expect.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,
Josh

Josh,

Your mistake is using the Disney web site as a source of information. The pictures for the WL don't even show the new rooms, and they have been finished for nearly a year. Disney's site is horrible, with many incorrect bits of information. It is very possible that their site showed you a king standard view, but it does not exist.

How do I know? I researched the room types using allearsnet.com. That site showed that king rooms were only available from woods view up. When I contacted my AAA travel agent, she said her information from Disney's site showed king sized beds in standard view as well. She tried to book the standard view king to save me some money. Guess what? When she called Disney to book she was informed that king beds were only available in woods view and better rooms.

As far as pricing information, check out this link. It will tell you everything you need to know about the WL.

Good luck planning, and remember, don't trust Disney's web site. It just stinks.

Right..well thanks for the info. I'd see it, but I was curious because I booked Standard for this past trip and was initially given a room on the 6th floor with a standard view of the parking lot and it had a King Bed in it...I even asked if it was a standard view and she said yes...

I'm not trying to be argumenative...just curious about non-rack rates...wondering what some people have gotten in the past. Hoping I can afford to stay there in May 08.

Cheers,
Josh

Did you have this room before or after the refurb was completed? I think that there were some king standard view rooms before the refurb.

As far as discounts, I was able to save 10% off rack rate by booking through AAA.

I didn't think that you were being argumentative. I just know that from my personal (and recent) experience, standard rooms are not available with king sized beds. I also know that the WDW web site is not updated and often incorrect.

This was July 13, 2007....a couple of weeks ago. I checked in and had requested a room with 2 beds on my reservation...had standard view...the CM wasn't paying attention on check in and put us in this room with a king bed.

I went back down and she moved us to another room with two beds.

Cheers,
Josh
