WL Pool - Too Small?

What are your thoughts on the pool at the WL? For such a large resort the pool seems awfully small. Its very well themed, but it look like if there were even 30 people in there it would be almost unusable for swimming. Why on earth would they build such a small pool?

Visited the resort in January and it didn't seem that small to me. Maybe because there are less people IN the pool in January?:confused3

I feel that the pools in WDW shouldn't be called "swimming" pools, no one swims, they all seem to bob, stand, dip or walk. In the early am, I guess you could go down and swim, actually swim, WL drops the separating rope for this. We've been to WL alot, fall and spring and the pools are never crowded to where you couldn't do a few strokes to get across. We've noticed that most of the congestion is on the slide side, with parents trying to catch their children at the bottom, the other side where the water comes in is deeper and has less guests over there. Small, not really, to us, its just quaint.

While you may think that the Wilderness Lodge is a large resort it is in fact one of, if not the smallest resort on property. With right at 700 rooms the pool wasn't designed to handle the same amount of guest as the large resorts that have up to 2000 rooms. :confused3

I don't think the WL pool is small at all.

We have always been lucky to get a table with an umbrella also.

Ive seen well over thirty people in the WL pool and it handled it well. As for swimming, I don't think it'd be easy to swim in any pool at WL mainly because they are far too hot. You overheat way faster in water than air, and if you notice actual swimming pools are always cool when you first get in, that's not the case at WL.

If you want to just swim, there is a smaller pool at WL, its even rectangular, but again, its really warm.

We really enjoyed the pool area at WL! It is a very pretty pool. Now, we did stay in Jan, so the crowds aren't as heavy, plus the weather was not real hot. So, obviously that had an impact on the crowds at the pool. It was not crowded at all. I could imagine it being packed during the summer months. We also liked the two hot tubs they have, very nice!

It seems from the responses everyone seems to like the pools here. To us tht is a selling point!

There have definitely been comments on these boards that the WL pool is too small or more importantly, its hard to get chairs there. That might be a frustration at times, but it is still a lovely resort. Many laud the pool at AKL vs WL for size, zero entry and beauty. I think both resorts would be just great places to spend a vacation.

No, I don't. I think it's one of the most beautiful pools on property. There is also a quiet pool on the other side, near the villas.

The pool wasn't crowded when we stayed there. I saw more ducks in the pool than people. lol.

I didn't know the pools at WL are always warm! Really??? I have never stayed there and heard about this, but thanks for given me that info. Now, I can be prepared when me and my kids step in and are not cooled down. lol

Maybe I am not awake yet this morning, but how come they are like that at WL?
