The Choice is killing me.

I have a ressie. for both my wife does not want to do a split stay wichis fine with me but I just don't know what to do.

Pluses for POLY I live in northern New England I have all the pine tree's I ever care to look at. Poly is tropical
MONORAIL have wanted to stay in a monorail resort for a long time.
Pool looks really great.

Minuses. Price almost double of the WL. IF we stay with WL we can most likely upgrade to concierge level for less then Poly will cost us.

Read a fare amount about rude or at least not cheerfull cm's at the poly.

Please HELP ME...lol

Thanks Dave

Having never stayed at Poly it's impossible for me to really help you  but I do know that you would Love the WL! I have stayed many times at the Grand Floridian and several times at AKL on both the concierge level and in standard room, Boardwalk Inn Concierge was fantastic. But we LOVED the WL :cloud9: We are spending part of our Spring Break trip at WL on the concierge level and can't wait! :flower1:
I don't think you can go wrong with either resort but if you can splurge on Concierge service at WL I would seriously consider it!
I have already had speedy, helpful responses from Melissa at WL IPO via email (I emailed them first)
Poly seems great and you mention many of its plusses. Just know that WL is much more than pine trees ;) It is a wonderful world all its own!
good luck!

We just stayed at the Polynesian:

* Every CM we came in contact with said Aloha and was very friendly and made conversation. They all seemed happy and enthusiastic to be there.

* The rooms are a lot bigger at the Polynesian than WL. The rooms at WL are the same size at CBR. Many of the rooms at Polynesian have been refurbed within the last 2 or 3 years. We stayed in Fiji and everything looked brand new and perfect.

* Transportation is better at the Polynesian- you have boats, the monorail and quick walking distance to the TTC.

* You can get a great view at the Polynesian, even if you stay in a garden room. From our balcony at Fiji, we overlooked the marina and had a clear view of the Contemporary, Space Mountain and the Electric Water Pageant.

I think the WL is a nice resort, but when I go to Florida I want to see palm trees and stay in a place with a tropical theme. Hope that helps!

We stayed at both the Poly LVC and WL concierge for our honeymoon last Sept/Oct and loved both resorts for very different reasons. Our room at the Poly had the most beautiful view of the castle and it was just a very peaceful, relaxing resort. However, we did find the concierge lounge very crowded and on some days almost impossible to find a seat in the early morning (that really didn't bother us too much and I would not consider it a negative, just an observation). I thought WL would be a stretch for me since I am not really a "rustic" kind of person and that is how I pictured WL (we are also from NE so I was not sure I really wanted to stay there for that reason as well...wanted something different). Anyway, I have to say WL exceeded all of my expectations. The hotel itself is so magnificant and definitely anything but "rustic." We stayed concierge there as well and preferred WL concierge to Poly concierge. The staff was friendlier and more helpful and we really like that there was not a "lounge" so to speak but rather the tables and chairs were located all along the 7th floor overlooking the lobby. The food was great and we really loved the whole stay. Bottom line, both resorts are amazing, but for the money WL is a much better deal and if you can do concierge there for less than a reg. room at the Poly, definitely go for it. Good luck!

just adding my .02 to what kpm76 just said re. VALUE! I booked WL Concierge and garden (standard) view at GF for Spring Break during Peak Season. My room at GF (the least expensive category) is $15.49 more per night that my Concierge level room at WL! That monorail and extra square footage is COSTLY! (But I do love GF!!)

Boy, you have a hard decision to make!! We stayed WL concierge a few years ago- it was our first concierge experience and it was great. We upgraded at check in (after calling and pestering the CMs about availability before our arrival). WL is a beautiful resort, the CMs were very nice and helpful, the pool was great, concierge services were fab. We didn't experience any of the transportation problems that you sometimes hear about on these boards. We loved the WL...but...NOTHING CAN COMPARE TO THE POLY!!!!!!!! We stayed Poly concierge last summer. Previously, we were on a mission to try all of the moderates and deluxes (as soon as we stayed in our first deluxe, the plan was altered and we decided to concentrate on deluxes only)- but as soon as we set foot in the Poly, we were hooked and said we didn't want to try any other resorts- we were home. This is a beautiful resort (even if you don't pony up for lagoon view there are still plenty of beautiful things to see). The atmosphere is so tropical. If you have small children, it is nice to be on the monorail to go back and forth for naps and whatnot. We liked having a choice between the beach and the pool, although our boys seemed to really enjoy the beach and didn't use the pool much. We never encountered any rudeness or impoliteness from any CMs. Either way you go, you get a beautiful resort. If you haven't tried concierge, it would be extra special to try for your vacation. Happy planning!

As of right now I say WL but after next week I could say the Poly.

We've stayed at the WL a few times and everytime it's been wonderful, it's a beautiful resort. We're trying the Poly out next week, I haven't stayed there since I was a kid. I'll update my answer when I return. ;)

Too bad all the choices we have to make in life are not this fun.
Both resorts are at the top of the Disney resorts list by frequent guests.
The only thing I would give the Poly over WL is the transportation. With the monorail right outside the door of the Poly, getting around is made that much easier. If this convenience is worth the extra money, Aloha. If you would prefer concierge over location, you will fall in love with WL. Like I said, both resort hotels are picked as the best Disney hotels by surveyed guests.

you live "Over in Dover" We are neighbors We live in Madbury

Wanted to say Howdy

I have to say when my wife looked at the pics on Tikimans site she fell in love wiht the poly instantly, just felt right for her. I am thinking that if the new AP rates come out and are not as generous, it iwll be easier to afford the WL next trip then the poly.

Maybe we can meet up some time, having another DIS'er so close is cool

Thanks all for your input keep it coming. Dave
