We're planning an Oct. trip and have narrowed it down to these 2. DH will not pay the extra for a tower. We have stayed @AK in 2002 and BCV 2003, we have become spoiled having a balcony. I understand the Contemporary std. rooms have no balcony, is it ever possible to be upgraded to the tower or does anyone know of any good 1st floor rooms with a good view and somewhat private. WL (wood view)is also one of our choices. We really like the idea of CR & monorail. We always put the kids to bed & sit out on balcony for awhile, so that would be greatly missed. Opinions please. Also, last years Passporter says this about CR: "Very few of the Garden Wing rooms have balconies, but first-floor rooms have patios." Are there ANY Garden Rooms with balconies or is this printed wrong??? Thanks

The floor level rooms in the wings do have a patio. The slider opens to a patio. The other floors also have a slider but no balcony. They open but have a rail so you or your children cannot fall out!

If I had to choose, I'd pick the CR for the monorail and ability to walk to MK. But if you really want a balcony, then go for the WL. It's a beautiful resort just not my favorite although the WL has many fans!

I've never stayed at the Contemporary but would like to try it one day, I guess. I have stayed at WL though and thought it was very nice. They have the boat to MK and we did have a great view from our balcony (courtyard view). We were able to watch the EWP and see some fireworks right from our room. It was nice.

The Contemporary is a must for us one day just to say we have been there and done that but we don't find the themeing appealing to us. I'm sure you'll be happy with either resort.

You can certainly request a first-floor patio at the CR. I think there's a difference between Garden Wing and Garden Wing Standard; the former is more expensive and probably gives you a view of Bay Lake. If you opt for that view, let me tell you it's worth it. Not only will you have in essence your own private beach, but you'll wake up in the morning listening to the loons and boat toots as the fog drifts by, and it's a great place to enjoy a nightcap after a long day in the parks.

If you can get that view, I'd definitely recommend the CR over the WL. One big plus: both resorts are connected by water launch, so you can come and go as you please.

They are my 2 fav resorts! How am I suppost to choose! *LOL*

We stayed in the CR wing rooms. No, I don't believe any wing rooms have balconies. Maybe the deluxe rooms ar the very end, but I'm not sure. The 1st floor rooms have small patios. I didn't think they looked that private. Everything is open, no walls between rooms.

The CR is lovely. We sure enjoyed our stay!

We also loved our WL stay. All rooms have balaconies or patios. If you stay on the 6th floor, they are solid (you have to stand to look over) so you'd have lots of privacy.

I'd say choose which ever theme most appeals to you! There is a boat that connects the resorts so it's very easy to visit the other.

I just stayed in a garden wing room last month at the Contemporary. Our room faced the canal and we enjoyed watching the boat launches head over to the MK. We had a standard room reserved, but asked for a complimentary upgrade at check in and were given a garden view room Very cool! We have never gotten a balcony(they are at the ends of the wing buildings) and did miss that, but still enjoyed our room. We will be giving the WL a try in July(got the $139 woods view rate yesterday!) and I know we will enjoy the balcony. No matter where you stay at Disney it is Disney and it will be magical. Have fun!
