Hi,

For those of you who have either stayed at WL or visited it in December, I've heard it's the best lodge to stay at during the time when everything is decorated for x-mas.

I was looking to stay at Poly in a gardenview room, but someone recommended me checking rates for WL and I could get a standard view room for $216.64 a night or a lodge view for 253.61 with my AAA discount Dec 1-11, 2006.

I was thinking Poly, and it does have the ease of going back and forth much quicker than WL, but it would be $915 more.

I have stayed at both. Neither in Dec. And we love them both. but I like having everything in one Building. And I have heard that WL is awsome at Christmas. So I would save the money & go with WL.

Kae,

So unlike lets say CBR, everything at WL is enclosed and you don't have to walk 5-10 minutes to get food.

Correct. The food courts at the Mods have a larger selectionbut, we had no trouble finding something to eat at Roaring Forks. And did not care for Capt Cooks at Poly-but I have heard they re-did it. Have you ever been to WL? It is just beautiful when you pull up. And I bet you well find time to hang out by the fireplace at WL, it is a wow. SGoto discovery.com & go to Travel Channel & search for & for when Great Hotels is airing the show aon WL. She does AKL & YC/BC also.

I've never stayed at the Poly, but we're headed back for our second Dec. trip to WL on the 8th. We love it, it's our favorite resort! Everything is under one roof, it's not so terribly big that it seems to take forever to get to anything, and it's beautiful at Christmas time.

Personally, I love Poly more at Christmas than anywhere else. The huge christmas tree in the lobby is so beautiful. Of course, Poly is my favorite resort. :) My parents prefer WL during Christmas because of the lodge feel with the Christmas decorations. I think either one you pick you won't be disappointed. We go to all of the resorts during the holidays to check out all of the decorations at the different resorts and they're all breath taking. If you do pick WL I recommend making a reservation as early as possible as there were no more standard rooms available during the time we are going (12/9-12/16) so we had to upgrade to a Courtyard view but when we went to make the actual reservation we got the Courtyard view room for $207 a night including taxes.

NeverlandClub23,

Thanks. I decided to split my stay between WL and Poly and got a standard room at WL for Dec 1-6 and a gardenview conceirge room at Poly for Dec 6-11. They had nothing else available at Poly for AAA rate or rack rate for that matter, but trust me I'm not going to cry over having concierge service at Poly for the 2nd half of my trip.

Jason,
My son and I stayed at the WL in Dec of 2002, it is a beautiful resort and even more so during the Christmas Season.
There is something about sitting in the lobby with the huge tree and the fire in the fireplace that just gives you chills.

helenk,

Since I could decide on WL or Poly that's why I decided to split the trip up between both resorts. This way I can stay at WL and take in everything there and then move over to Poly and try that out. The cool thing is that between my two trips in 06, I will beable to try AKL, WL and Poly.
