WL - Dissapointing Treatment

The problem with this whole debate is the title of the thread:

"WL-Disappointing Treatment"

If the OP had titled it "WL-Disappointing," I don't think the debate would be so strong.

I think most people here agree that WL had NO obligation to give a lower rate. I think most people also agree that the OP has to take some responsibility for not being prepared for their first night.

However, I think most people also agree that they had the capability to reduce the rate if they could.

Therefore, does the OP have the right to be "Disappointed"? ABSOLUTELY,

But, should they put the whole of the disappointment on to Disney? No-- it is not wholly Disney's fault.

So,,then,,,what should the policy be? I think its nice they let people check in early(if the room is ready)and not charge more. I've been to places where if check in is at 3,,and you try to get in at say,,10:30,,they say no way! The poster should be glad they were allowed in the room early. Should they have a policy that if people check in after midnight,,say,,they get a 1/2 room rate? They still have to pay the housekeeper the same hourly rate to clean the room, whether the bed was slept in for 4 hours or 9.I've noticed that several who have gotten a better rate at walk up have been AP holders. Maybe that makes a difference? I also noticed the op went back and edited the original post,,adding information they left out when they first wrote the post. I agree w/whoever said the title of the post is kinda the issue. I can understand being disappointed,,even ticked,,but to blame them (WL)seems like misdirected anger. I also didn't realize that Ocala and Orlando were 3 hours apart from each other?!Picking a less expensive place would have been a good idea.

I've heard this expression before and know it is bad - but what does it mean.

Someone who is trying to cause contraversy?

Who came up with the name?

Just curious

We extended our stay during our honeymoon at the Wilderness Lodge and they gave us the same rate we had booked. It wasn't even an issue - however, this was nine years ago. Now I feel old.

A troll is someone who comes and starts posting on a message board/ e-mail group, etc. either to be mean or rude, but really just to encite controversy and get people arguing.

A troll is just looking for attention, so if noone replies, they usually go away.

It doesn't seem like the OP was a troll, but, maybe I'm just gullible:crazy:

If this is the case, then how are CMs able to upgrade rooms for no charge upon check-in. They are effectively skirting the CRO rates when they do this.

Because it is during the hours the Manager would be on duty. I think your situation would have turned out different if you had been able to contact them earlier.

Also it's very difficult to compare the 2 situations. Upgrades can happen for many reasons. Some are: the room this person was to be assigned to had to be taken down for problems. Disney never tells the guest this and why should they. They are not going to say we are giving you an upgrade because the room you were suppose to get is flooded. They give the upgrade and the guest is thrilled, magic is made. Its a win/win situation.

Upgrades are given to new guests to get them to experience a higher price room hoping they will book it again.

Also upgrades are given based on the occupany of the hotel, the time of year etc.

You went during a very busy time of the year, even though rooms might be empty there is no way to know how many.

Ocala and Orlando are not 3 hours apart. I live in Jacksonville and I'm not 3 hours from Orlando and I'm not a terribly fast driver. Ocala is about an hour from Orlando.
