WL Cub's Den--will Disney know my child's exact age?

Hi! I have a 7yo and an almost 4 yo who is big and potty trained but will be a month shy of his 4th bday when we go to Disney. Since Disney collects tons of data on the phone for their computers, will they know if I try to make a ressie for the cub's den that he is not 4yo yet? What do you think? Should I try it? Or go with a sitter instead for a nice dinner at the Flying Fish?

I feel your pain. DD will be three weeks shy of her 4th when we go. But I imagine they have to be very strict with the ages as child care laws allow different ratios depending on the age of the children. In MD, where we live, I believe it is 1:6 for 2 yo, 1:8 for 3 yo and 1:10 for 4 yo and so on. If you get caught with the wrong staff to child, they will shut you down.

If you tell them that your child is 4, I am sure they will let them in. But are you prepared to tell you child to lie when the CM says "and how old are you?"

They have very nice in room sitter services. I would recommend using them. It is just too easy for the CM's to get the real age out of a child... they aren't adept at lying, and shouldn't be.

I know that if the evening childcare programs were shut down due to admitting children less than the appropriate age, it would hurt many. Please consider this when deciding what you want to do.

This is a licensing issue, so even if your child is almost 4, WDW is still not legally allowed to have him there. Get the in-room babysitter, and have a good time!!:D

I'm also wondering...if you say the child is 4yo, wouldn't that cost you a ticket for the parks? Or is it 3 and over. Since we give them so much info on the phone, I think they'd know. Just my guess.

I agree with the other posters, the chances are really good that they're going to find out, and page you to pick up the child immediately. :o

I'd suggest the in room child care. It will cost about the same as two kids in the clubs. Another benefit to in room care is: the clubs close at midnight, so you can't stay for the fireworks at PI...you have to leave by 11:30, or even earlier to get back for the clubs. If you have an in room sitter you can party all night :D

Just remember, you have to get up in the morning :)

It is indeed three and over.

We have done the in room sitter before. I thought they'd have more fun with the movies and such. I can take the older one easily to Flying Fish, but the younger one may be a challenge. I sort of hate for them to miss the bike around the boardwalk, too. I'll decide, soon. Thanks.

I believe you also have to fill out a form when you drop your child off at the club. As I recall, it asks for info such as birth date, allergies, emergency info, etc. such as any child care facility would need to know in order to care for your child.

Why not just ask them? If the age limit is part of a licensing issue, they'll tell you. If the age limit is merely a strongly suggested rule of thumb, they'll probably tell you that, too.

Hey Took, good idea, but the age limit is most definitely due to their state childcare license.

Hi there.. does your son know he is 3? LOL

Don't be surprised if he rats you out... my daughter did this to me when she was about that age at the zoo... she was always so tiny for her age, sitting in the stroller she sure looked 3... but when the attendant asked... she piped up.

"I am 4 years old" and of course.. that cost me 12.00 for a ticket!

Good luck!
