It is my first time to the WL and it is my 5th year wedding anniversary. I have already booked the concierge. But I want someone to go into detail about the service and their experiences. It is going to be a surprise for my wife (she thinks we are going to another resort). I was originally going to book the BW, but we loved themed hotels and this seems to be one of the best.

frostyc,

We have stayed at the WL concierge level the past two years and have thoroughly enjoyed it. We are headed back there again this June. The staff there is very helpful. Let me start off by telling you about the food offerings. The breakfast is usually very plentiful and always fills us up. There is usually a variety of cereals, muffins, pastries, bagels, croissants, juices, coffee, milk, etc. The midday offering is usually raw vegetables, dip, crackers, nuts, cookies, fruit, etc. The evening offering usually consists of a soup, a hot dish, vegetables, dips, breads, etc. The evening dessert and cordials consist of brownies, cookies, hot cobbler, wines, etc. We have always been very happy with the food offerings. The staff will help you with the planning and scheduling of all your PS's. I just e-mailed them yesterday with my requests. I also had some questions about the cruises to see the fireworks and about possibly arranging some gifts in our room for my DD's. I promptly received a response from them today saying they were booking my requested PS's and they e-mailed me info on my other requests. I am very impressed with the service we receive from them. If it is your anniversary, make sure they know it and I am sure they can help you plan something special. We had room 7066 last year. It was a wonderful room with a view of the MK fireworks. I would request a room on the MK side so you can sit on your balcony and watch the fireworks. When we are there the staff always makes us feel special and pampered. They go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. I would highly recommend WL concierge. :flower:

Well.......

The Wilderness Lodge was OK. The staff were pleasant, the decor interesting, and the room clean.

But don't expect a luxury concierge experience. There is no desks where you can sit and leisurely work with the staff to make arrangements for you--you stand in front of a counter stuffed into a corner, it's not welcoming at all.

THere's no comfortable lounge or seating area, just some tables and chairs scattered through the hallway. No widescreen tv, no childrens play area, nothing like that.

The food offerings are again on a table in the hallway, and we found them somewhat sparse compared to other WDW CL's.

It wasn't a bad experience by any means, but it was far from leaving me "wow'ed".

If you want exquisite theming and a WOW experience, the AKL might be a better choice. (They also ahve a LOT more rooms with king beds, greatly increasing the odds of getting one of those!)

We were also in 7066, and while you've got a decent view of teh MK foreworks, you also look down over a somewhat noisy service area.

I totally agree. Back in Aug'03 we were offered to upgrade for additional $70 a night to concierge. We did it. The view was great. We enjoyed everything as this was our first concierge stay. Since it wasn't prebooked we didn't take advantage of what services they offer. The kids enjoyed being able to get snacks and drinks during the day when we were there but for the most part we were in the parks and missed most of it. BUT Sept'04 we stayed Poly concierge (prebooked it) and what a difference. From the food and drink offerings, the lounge, and just the feel of it. I would do WL concierge again if I got it for the price I paid before of $184 a night but otherwise I'd go Poly again. Plus watching the fireworks from Poly's beach and walking back to the room was worth the extra price.

Unless things have changed recently, no.

On another thread they were discussing how the WL concierge lounge will be expanded in the coming months by eliminating one (or possibly two) of the current 'honeymoon' suites on that floor. Construction is to begin sometime in the next couple of months, perhaps even April (?)

For those of you offered upgrades to WL Concierge at check-in, what was the cost to upgrade per night, if any??
