What type of coffee do they have in the rooms at WL? Is it "real" coffee or some type of instant?

I am trying to figure out the best way to get a decent coffee fix in the morning.

Hi, We will be at the WL this month, and I would also like the answer to the coffee ?.Are there coffee makers in each room? This will be our first stay at the WL and I am really looking forward to our stay! Thanks, Joan

We had real coffee and a maker in our room but we were up on the Concierge floor . My MIL and FIL would just get coffee in the lounge in the morning but at night they would make a pot to have with the cobbler back in the room . i have stayed there 3 times in 3 years and have always had the coffee makers , they put coffee ,sugar, cream, and all that stuff in the room everyday .

We just returned from WL. There is a small coffee maker in the room, but terrible coffee..not instant, just not good. We had a car so we went to the Dolphin for Starbucks coffee. I would take my own coffee and make it in the room. You'll need filters for the small pot (probably two cups). We had a great stay, our room was really nice. However, if you like high quality paper products such as Charmin or Puffs, take your own. Our friend had a cold and we had to go to DTD to buy Kleenex. Their products were really harsh.

katallo,

What size was the coffee maker? Is it the type that take the small filter packs with coffee in them? I could bring our own coffee and filters but I would also like to make it easy to clean up.

Of course my next post to the boards will be where can I get my espresso hit during the days at the parks. While most people will be creating touring plans based on rides and crowds I will be working on the caffine version of the plan. heh, heh.

Just checked with my DH. It was a two cup Mr. Coffee. You can get expresso in Epcot near Italy. There is also a station in the lobby of the CR and at the Kona Cafe in the Polynesian. Isn't it ridiculous that you have to search for good coffee!

I will admit to being a coffee snob.

I live in the Pacific Northwest.

I have a Capresso MT 500 coffee maker and a solis maestro grinder at home.

To me, Starbucks is coffee of last resort. I believe that they over roast their beans. I feel beans should only be roasted until just after the second crack unless it's for espresso.

We bring our own coffee, pre-ground. We also soak and clean the coffee maker first thing when we get there, and get our own real cream from the store.

But that's just me. :teeth:

Any way you look at it, coffee in the resorts is ghastly if you like strong fresh roasted coffee, at least by Northwest standards.

I'm not as picky about other things, but coffee is nearly a religion to many in this part of the country. Your mileage may vary.

ok i am a lover of coffee. and the only place i found the "real" thing and not the nescafe, was at 2 kiosks at WS in epcot and in the little bookstoreish gift shop next to the sci-fi diner at mgm. i was known by name, by the end of each day at those parks. :cool1:
when we arrived home i called inlaws who were at our house waiting for us, to make a BIG pot of coffee.

one would think that disney would want to keep the coffee lovers happy and serve the real thing... keep us all awake longer and we will spend more $$$$$!!

Im with you. I have a Breil Espresso machine with the non preasurised basket and the Solis Maestro Plus grinder as well (Just got it last year and I love it!). I get our beans from a local roaster and also view Starbucks as a place of last resort. All I drink during the day is espresso but now I am finding that I will have to keep a list of places just for a decent cup of regular coffee in the World. I can see it now... when I rush ahead to get the fastpasses for an attraction I will be really sneaking off to get a hit of caffine. "Really honey, all the fastpasses were gone.. honestly."

Oh the humanity of it all.

Oh well, at least this makes the decision not to get the refillable mugs easier. The kids don't drink soda and it does not appear that I will want a refillable mug of the coffe that they have. :-(

Actually, the refillable mugs can be worth it just for water. The water that comes out of the soda machines in the resorts is cold and FILTERED. it's drinkable.

If you ever get to Portland, try Stumptown coffee. Excellent roast, and some of the most knowledgable baristas in the country. No voodoo or wierd grande skinny BS. Their baristas spend weeks pulling hundreds of shots they throw away just to learn to do it right. They're about coffee, not candy drinks.

www.coffeegeek.com is a good site to find locations of good coffee places too. (I have no affiliation with them, but it's where I go to find out about coffee and equipement). check out the latte art forum.

Have you tried home roasting yet? There is a good site called www.sweetmarias.com that has the equipment, green beans and a lot of good information about roasting. I haven't tried it yet becuase they say the smell is pretty bad but I am curious if anyone else has.

I liked the comment about the "grande skinny BS". Dave Barry had a funny column on that awhile ago. One of the local shops has the article handing up in it.

The brand of coffee in the rooms at the POR, ASM, POFQ, and Dophin (last spring and summer) was "Yuban". It was ground coffee in little filter packs. Regular and De-Caf

Most of the people I know that have did not have good luck, as the home roasters available are not very consistant, and often break.

I'd like to try though...

But we digress. :rolleyes1

Think I'll go have a cup of coffee. :)

I have dreams about my UPS man. He is totally hot. My favorite dream about him is the one where he shows up on my doorstep early in the morning, smelling like Acqua di Gio and holding a Gaggia Syncrony Digital....

Yes, I lead a rich fantasy life! :goodvibes

Mine would be the Mazzer Mini grinder with the Pasquini Livia 90 from www.wholelattelove.com.

Of course that also costs about half of what a week at WDW costs. (I knew we could bring this back around to being about WDW!)
:-)

I still think those Francis Francis machines are the coolest-looking of all the makers out there.... but those pods, gross!

On an even more disgusting note, my dad is a devoted drinker of Taster's Choice instant. I can say that because no one here knows my real name. I've been in counseling for some time over just that alone. Share my pain!

:drinking1

Fine... now I need to go get an espresso machine. See what you've done to me? My kids might not get the dining plan because of you people..... :rotfl:

My hubby is a coffee drinker and I always pack his Maxwell House brand for him cause he HATES the coffee in the WL rooms. He said it is just nasty! :rotfl:

Best bet would be to take your own fave coffee.

As for me--coffee? ech! :earseek:

Give me a coke in the mornings and Im happier than a pig in mud!!!!!! :)

OK.. It appears that I will be bringing my own. I just have a question on the logistics. I am assuming that they use those prepackage filter packs for the coffee in the room. That means I will need to bring filters and coffee. Not a problem. Just what size filters do I need and do they have liners in the garbage can?

While I really want to have some decent coffee I also don't want to make a mess for housekeeping.

Thanks in advance.
