Wk Of Oct 7 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Judy I love the pic and at this point I would love for leaves to fall off my trees. I miss the change of seasons. We don't have that down here we just have hot, a little bit hotter and almost unbearable. But I could not live without the BEACH :cool2: , so what's a girl to do:confused3

WE ARE OFFICIALLY IN!!

Bobby and Bobby, Jr. are signed up for 5k and Bobby Sr. signed up for 1/2:banana:

Will catch up more later

angie

Angie - I'm sure Judy and I will be happy to ship you some leaves to make you feel like it's fall. Glad you're joining us in January.

Cindy - Good luck this weekend!

I'M WEARING TWO RUNNING SHOES!!! (Gee, Judy, remember when you were posting this?) Saw the doc this morning - he told me to wear the running shoes and take it easy for another week, then slowly work back into running! :woohoo:
I'm gonna be a runner!

I finally got a race report from my group leader who ran Chicago. All of our group is okay, but her report brought tears to my eyes. And this article, well, it just made me mad!

Jackie: congrats on finally becoming Goody Goody 2Shoes!

I agree that article is very irritating. While the organizers have no control over the temperature, it is their responsibility to have enough water. Isn't that one of the things our entry fees go toward?

Villians Rock: you still rock in my book! 9 min miles for any length of time is very impressive to me. And of COURSE you have to prove your BIL wrong!! I'm so there! If I can prove my DB wrong, EVER, I'm gonna take it. And he ALWAYS has to get in the last word! But I'm not bitter, nooooo.

But I digress.

It's good to have you here! Hope to see you at some of the Disney races!!

Total drive by....but I wanted to report that I did 3 miles today even though this cold is still not leaving me. I think it did help that I stayed home from work today annd slept until noon though. :thumbsup2

Judy - awesome bike! Chad would be so jealous. He used to ride, but hasn't since I met him. He is really itching to get a bike again too.

Cam - how's the pain & inflammation?

I know Carrie's really busy with her new job. But I miss her posts! :sad1:

Judy

Can I come over and play with Charlie's new toy, please?????

I had a motorcycle in my youth at CU. It was cheap to own and operate, and you could park it anywhere, very valuable on a congested campus. When I met Martha she thought it was cute, and on occasion she jumped on the back and rode with me.

We went through the early married years, and although I wanted a bike we had no money, so fine. In fact, one day my then 10 year old daughter walked up to our stupid white mini van and said, "here's your Harley Davidson Dad." Never in human history has a man been so thoroughly emasculated. Now that I have the time and the money for the bike of my dreams, my wife has drawn a line in the sand over this.

A bike vs. a wife? Let me think about that.

Just to be safe, can come over and play? This way I could get the bike and keep the wife.

Enviously,
Craig

Wow Judy, nice Bike, that must have cost more than mine and Erica's trailer. But our trailer came with a dog and a years lease on the lot. Once we got the wheels off it looked prety good.

Craig, keep the wife, sounds like you got a good one. Bikes make lousey snuggling on a cold day.

I took an, I'm lazy, I'm tired, I have a bone in my leg, I don't wanna day. I'll be back at it tomorrow.

Have a great evening y'all.

Dazed:hippie:

I should go ahead and take today off too. OK, am I the only one that doesn't see a difference?

Christa you look as fresh in the 2nd picture as you did in the first!:confused3

Wish I looked like that after riding 100 miles!:thumbsup2

Christa--If I'd have seen the second picture first I never would've known that was AFTER riding 100 miles! You look great in both (eta:Colleen, great minds think alike! ;)). Good luck with the FAST 12 miles tomorrow

Judy--like the new toy--I'm not one of the motorcycle persuasion, so better your house than ours!;)

Kristi--Get better soon! Can't wait to see ya'll in a couple weeks!

VilliansRock--Our vacation is heading back to WDW for ToT. Can't wait! We're doing the race, F&W and MNSSHP--all in 4 days!:cool1: I just ordered myself an Elizabeth Swann Pirate costume last night to wear at the party!pirate: Argh!

Carrie--Miss you too! Hope work is going well--will see you in a couple weeks!

My 5 mile tempo run last night ended at 4 miles. I'm trying to work back into my schedule slowly, so I don't injure myself. Felt good--4 miles at 8:48. Today is more xtraining. My Dsis talked me into trying out a new class at the gym today--CardioTennis. It's like a circuit training course with hitting tennis balls included. She says it's lots of fun--but heck, she's the instructor, so what else is she gonna say! Okay, gotta go get lunches together! Have a great Thurs. all. 2 Weeks from today I'm gonna be on a plane to WDW!!!!!! Can't wait!:cool1:

Update on my knee problems. Since I pulled out of MCM, I have now been to 3 orthopedists.

First - You have ITBS, go home and stretch.:sad2:

Second - Took X-ray, you have bone spurs on your patella. No ITBS. Keep running, it will be alright if you can handle the pain. In fact, come in a few days before the marathon and I will give you a steroid injection in the knee.:scared1:

Third - You are too old... you are too heavy...you are wearing down your knee...stop running or you will need knee replacement when you are 60. :sad1: He said he was 95% sure I couldn't do anything about the problem because I didn't have much space between my patella and my knee. (Funny ortho #2 didn't say this and he looked at the exact same X-ray.)

Finally, I asked ortho #3 for a MRI, since he was asking me to give up something in my life I truly loved. So I am going for MRI today and results back next Tuesday. Wish me luck!

Colleen

Colleen--Lots of hugs, PD and prayers going out to you!:wizard:  :wizard: That 3rd ortho sounds as crazy as the first--Too heavy??? Too old????? I hope the MRI gives you some more answers. Maybe the Candian-chiro has the best plan of action for you.

Good morning WISHers! :surfweb:

WWDave: I KNEW I liked you! Yes, I do believe I am better for snuggling on cold winter nights and I generally make Calcio's life so much easier and much more fun!! :lmao: :rotfl:

Calcio: NO!! You may NOT go play with Charlie's bike. They don't call them organ donor machines for nothin'! I don't care if everyone else has one, if everyone else jumped off a cliff would you? I don't think so!!! :love2:

Judy: sigh, what am I gonna do?

Christa: I agree that you look just as fresh in the second picture as the first. I'd look like he** and not smiling if I'd just biked 100 miles!!

Kristi1357: I do hope that cold goes away soon! You've been fighting it long enough. Time for an eviction notice!!

Jackie: happy to hear your friend is OK after the Chicago fiasco!

Colleen: stick to your guns! Don't let them make such "diagnosis" without concrete evidence! Did you tell ortho #3 what #1 and #2 said? It is absurb. The only thing they can tell you is "stop running." Nope--not gonna fly. Let us know what the MRI tells them.

I've been up and to my training session and am now pretending to work. Not hard since I actually have work to do but still slow. Almost caffeine time! I ran 30 minutes last night and will run 30 tomorrow. They are calling for our rainy weather to be out of here by then so I can run outside. I haven't used a TM since I felt my IT on it so that's good. I hope the weather holds enough for me to complete my training before the marathon in January. I really, really, REALLY don't want to be running 20 miles or more on a TM!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Christa - you do look the same before & after! Gosh, it's so unfair! ;)

Colleen
- more :wizard: for you. Keep questioning these doctors!

Martha - I am sending that eviction notice today! ;-)

I think my cold may finally be on it's way out - thank goodness! Tomorrow is my last LR before ToT.

And since everyone is picture happy this week, I have to post one of Zack from the wedding on Sunday. :goodvibes
(sorry it's so big!)

Hey everyone!!!!!..

Sorry I am MIA......can't even begin to catch up but....OMG that photo is adorable Kristi!!!!!

I just booked my flight home from Marathon weekend and there seem to be alot of deals on SW right now so you all might wanna check. Just saved my co-worker $273 on her flight at the end of Jan so check it out everyone.

Kim

Hello, WISHers!

Great photos - what fun to see my "imaginery" teammates and their family! Can't wait to see you all in person at ToT and marathon weekend!

Today was supposed to be a rest day for me, but since I had such a stonker on Monday I decided to do a short run. Thirty minutes on the hills and it was pretty good -- I could tell I was pushing my pace which I believe is a result of doing speedwork (or my version thereof) yesterday. Temp was in the 50's so it FINALLY feels like fall!

Jackie - Great news that you're back in running shoes!

Colleen - Are you by Raleigh? My DH had a knee surgery a couple years ago and liked his doctor. Don't know his name off the top of my head, but I could find out. (Of course I'd hate to find out he's one of the guys you've seen!) Sending PD your way.

Happy training, all!
Renee

Well...just got back from a nice 4 mi in the 48 degree rain. I love, love, love running in the fall rain, but my lungs HATE it!!! I think it's something to do with my allergy to mold and the wet leaves. I should have taken my inhaler with me...oh well, next time I'll remember. How many people on here are midwesterners?

Christa - I agree...nobody would every know you have been out sweating in the sun, riding for 100 miles!!

Colleen - I would not give up running without a 4th, 5th and 6th opinion all telling you to! I also think you should tell #3 about the other diagnosis'...and/or try yet another doc. I'll keep you in my thoughts and yes more :wizard: !!

Kristi - Those kids are sooo cute! I love children in weddings...they add a special something (not to mention comic relief sometimes too)!!

Stephanie - I would have loved to do the TOT!! But I had already registered for the RFTT before I knew about it. SO sad. I'm more of a daytime/night runner and early mornings are ROUGH for me. The TOT seems so much more up my ally! I'm definitely planning on it for next year though for sure!

OK all....have a good one...check-you-later!

Colleen - That stinks!!! You are not old or heavy though!!! I did have a dream last night about throwing a fit on my next birthday when I realized how old I am!!!!

Christa - I don't have any pictures to post from before and after the century, but If I did, it would just show me laying on the massage table w/ my mouth drooping open!! Lovely bike and lovely lady by the way.

I have not done much since the century this week. The boy is on break from school for 2 weeks. I think we may go for a bike ride today (if I can beat the laziness!) If not, I might run on the TM a little (yuck!)

Good morning folks! Wow, this week is flying by. My parents arrive from Indonesia this afternoon. In a week and a day I'm flying to San Francisco for my half. I can't wait! Terri and Susie - are you guys excited yet?

Yesterday I went for 5.52 miles over lunch. Finished in 57:26 for a 10:24/mi pace. Check out my mile splits...
1 - 10:58
2 - 10:41
3 - 10:28
4 - 10:18
5 - 9:50
0.52 - 9:59
How is that for progressive improvement? I skipped yoga to study for my impending professional practice exam last night. Today is a rest day, then Friday is my SLR of 4 mi, Saturday is my LLR of 6 mi. Sunday is the kick off of my curling season with my first game. Too bad I'll miss the following three weeks after it though thanks to all my travels and races.

For those of you asking about the BF, there we are on our hike of C-Level Cirque a week or so back. Cute, eh?
