Judy - Lots of :wizard: :wizard: for your knees! Remember to R.I.C.E!
R -rest
I - Ice
C - Cease activity
E - Elevate
Sorry I cannot spell! But you get the picture!

Colleen - WTG on your 20 miles...now the hard part, the taper! :rotfl:
Christa, taper, taper taper. I know it is hard, but you can do it! Good luck on your run. (P.S. I think you can beat that time from last year's age class winner!)
Not so sure about this! I haven't seen the trails, so I don't know what I am in for.

Going to take a nap instead of working out today! :cool1: Thanks Melissa!

Thank you all so much! :goodvibes You guys are the best. I have a call into my MD to get a referral to see Dr Hunka-Hunka Burning Love.

He'll probably just tell me I'm gettin' old.

And I need to lose 40 pounds.

I can't ice right now because I am at work. But I will when I get home.

Judy-- I am so sorry to hear of your temporary setback. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for speedy recovery

Heather-- video ipod, now that's an idea!

Well I have good news and bad news.

Good news: I got in 8 miles yesterday; 3.5 at lunch (~14:00 mpm) I didn't have my Garmin so I used gmaps to calculated pace.

Then after work I did a 4.5 "race walk" trying out the techniques of that site I posted. Well they really do increase your speed.

mile1: 12:27
mile2: 13:32 (I had to go back to normal fast walking because I was beat)
mile3: 13:28
mile4: 14:04
.5 cool down

Now the bad news. I didn't have much pain during the walk and I did my PT stretches and decompression (hanging from the ceiling) and felt great, but about an hour later I had severe lower back pain that lasted all night.

Today was supposed to be my first try on the treadmill to jog at PT but based on my report of last night's pain she said we have to hold off and I have to rest and reduce my distance/speed :sad2:

I hope it's temporary. I'm going to look and see if there are race walking coaches in the area, I am really excited about the possibility of walking a sub 10:00 mpm :woohoo:

Sunny

Carrie - :thumbsup2 Thanks so much for the help! I am technology challenged so this simple device seems very complicated to me.
I thnik I have set it right. We'll see tomorrow.
I have set the "auto lap" feature - by distance to 1 mile
I think before when I looked at it I must of thought that this feature was for when you do laps on a track or run the same path over and over.
I'm excited to try it out tomorrow!

OK, so I didn't get my inhaler yet, but when I went to the gym today I decided to do the treadmill instead of the elliptical...well I only had 30 minutes, so I tried the 4walk/1run again...I DID IT!!!!

I walked at a 3.5 mph pace for the first mile and ran at a 5.0 mph pace, then for the second mile I bumped the walking up to 3.7 mph and ran at a 6.0 mph pace...and I made it...I actually felt really good...so I am going to try again tonight when DH and I go out for our 3 miler tonight.

NO porblem! I love to play with that kind of stuff, but it still took me a while (couple months maybe) before I found that feature!

OK, since I have now found out that I am indeed moving to another office, I have repacked everything I just unpacked. However, I am not moving until Tuesday. So I have some time to kill.

Which leads me to...Name Tags.

I have PM'ed Helen, since she did them last time. In the meantime I thought I'd throw some ideas and questions out....

I assume I would bring them to Friday night's dinner, right? I was going to make them up in advance, with a W.I.S.H. design, maybe something like on our shirts. I was also thinking I'd put everyone's real name then their screen name under it. Also, I was thinking I would just make them for people on my Who's Going list, and then bring a bunch of blanks and a marker to write them, so people who didn't get on my list can still have one.

Any thoughts on all of this? Also, how would I handle the spouse/family issue? I want to be fair but if I start making them for everybody I'll end up making hundreds! Should they be only for the people participating? :confused3

Help!

Did 3 miles of "speedwork" today. I put it in quotes, b/c basically sunny can race walk faster than i run :teeth: Went to bike for about 30 mins on the trail. the bronc and i have made some peace.

Judy - keep us posted on the knee. You are in my thoughts!!!!

Christa - sleep it up baby!!!!!!

OK - I did the locks of love thing today. My hair was down past my bra line in back, and now.... it is to my chin. I have never had short hair. I am kind of sad about it, but my hair grows fast!!!!

Colleen - the boy is great. He is actually concerned about his personal appearance. This morning, after spending a long time in the bathroom, he came out and said" you don't expect me to go to school like this do you??" I asked why and he responded that there were "two hairs sticking up" Anyway, we ammended it and off he went!!

I am officially "allowed" to post! I started my MfM plan today!

Michelle - you are doing awesome!

Judy - no ideas on the nametags, but thank you for taking care of that for the group. I'll be keeping a closer eye on you & Jodi's races - if they aren't too far from me, maybe I can meet up with you guys at one sometime.

Sorry, I don't have time to catch up with everyone. Between yesterday & today, my Goo Goo Dolls have been taking up all my time. Boston tix went on presale yesterday (snagged row 8 - not too shabby) - and now me and my "Goo" friends are planning our attack on the tour bus! :smooth:

So, MfM called for 32 mins. w3/r1 today. I never have done w3/r1. I did it & lived! I forgot to hit lap at mile one so:
2 miles: 24:22
.65 miles: 7:41
So it ended up being the low 12 min. miles. Not too bad since I have not done a thing since DL on the 17th! :scared1:

Tomorrow is xt. Does anyone know if doing one of my Leslie Sansone Walk Away The Pounds videos would be ok? They are walking. But they are done in front of the tv, side stepping, walking back & forth, etc. She also adds in the resistance band for arms. I used to count it for xt while training for the Minnie, but I'm wondering if true xt should be something completely different like biking or swimming or whatever.

Kristi - Way to go for being on plan! It's a grey area, but XT is not supposed to be walking or running. I would try somehting else.

Mel - That was so great of you! I always thought of doign this, but chnged hair styles so often that I did not have time fo rit to grow out. I've had it short for over 2 years now, so it's not an options. You'll make a lot of people suffering happoier now. Good for you, even thought it must have been hard to say goodbye to all that hair.

Judy - I have no idea. I'd do only those who participate here. If their gusts want a name tage, they can use the blanks. Evryone will just associate them with the WISHer anyway. JMO. I won't be at dinner Friday, so it really doesn't matter to me. Just seems liek you could be in for a mountain of name tages any other way.

Melissa - COOL! I did the locks of love 3x, DD8 has done it 2x and DD 6 did it once. The DDs are getting ready to do it again, but my hair is long for racing.... :rotfl: So I can pull it up.
I want to see pics...I bet it is so cute!

Christa - I had the whole race hair discussion w/ him b/4 he cut it. All we can come up w/ is... wear a hat :confused3 I think it should be at least nub pony tail length by january You have such curly hair, I can't imagine how long it must have been before you cut it. Mine is wavy. He straightened it today, but told me to just let it air dry when i do it. I think i'm only doing this once. I read they pick out the grey. well..... By the next time my hair is long enough, well.. you know.

Mel - You should be able to at least pull the front back. Mine's stacked in back, so it's not hot on the neck and I can pull the front back. I'm sure you'll find somethign that works.

Oh no, please. Not now. Not now! On noooo, please, no! :guilty:

Yesterday I got up from my desk and felt something happen in my "old" knee. It's hard to describe but it sounded like, well, meat snapping. I've never actually been stabbed but now I think I know how it feels. It felt just like a knife went into the back of my knee. After a little while it felt better, but then it happened again later in the afternoon. Not the snapping sound but the stabbing pain. Laying in bed last night it hurt pretty badly. And now this morning BOTH my knees are tremendously swollen up.

I could cry. I could just cry. :sad1:

I suppose I should call Dr Hunk-A-Hunka Burning Love. But he's an orthopedic surgeon. He's going to say I need surgery. I just know it.

I feel sick. :sad2:

Today was my first official MFM rest day. So that is what I did.

Oh Judy :grouphug: :wizard: my heart just wept for you when I read this. As corney as that sounds it does. You've put toooo much into this to give up now like I did. PLEASE call you DR and take care of yourself :grouphug: :wizard:

How are you doing today, Judy? I've been worried about you and hoping you are taking it easy, sweetie!

Oh I forgot one thing! When we were checking out (Charlie bought a pair of Sauconys too - copy cat!) the lady at the register asked me...

"You guys running a marathon?"

I could have jumped over the counter and kissed her! :yay:

OMG, that felt wonderful!!!

Oh Judy that gave me chills!! Way to go on your 5K! You are awesome!
