 :dance3: :cool1: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:
Party Hardy! Congratulations, you've worked sooooo hard!

Sunny

Cam--You are such an inspiration to me and now to Scott! You rock! Sorry about the stonker workout, but I'm sure the good news makes it all worthwhile!

Carrie--Yeah, I about died last night when I was chatting with Robin and she says "Carrie says to say HI!" I was like, WTH, How do you know Carrie??? Too funny--it's a small world

Minnie--Congrats on almost being done with your degree! Great job on getting out there and doing it! OH, and thanks for the info on the skirts, like I need to buy anything else!

Jenn-sounds like May is going to be a great month for you! :yay: :yay:

WEll, better go check on the kiddos!:wave2:

Dona Welcome and wow! What a great story. I KNOW you're going to have a great race! Every mile will be a victory for you and and inspiration for everyone around you.
Cam Congrats on a great check-up! I will have to share with DH, who comes from a history of heart problems.

I did 40 minutes today; 4.2 miles. My calves were very tight from lifting yesterday so I had to stop for a stretch half way through. After that they felt pretty good!

Good luck with all the workouts today!

Donna - Welcome!! You have overcome so much, and your story hit home with me. I was crying as I read it. Please ask anything you like we are definately here for you to talk to.

Christa - OMG!! Girl are you crazy?! 40 miles? You are actually thinking about running 40 miles?! And everyone thought I was crazy for 26.2!! You Go Girl!!

Mel - That is awesome news about the EKG... and you know what?! Your doctor was right 100% about EVERYTHING he said!!

OK, I am back to training to train, but that's ok as long as I get back there right?! I ran my 25 minutes on Monday, but blew off my run yesterday thanks to the lovely rain from our SUBTropical Storm. WTH?! Tropical Storms in May?! "O" well, so I'll get back out there tomorrow, and I'll do some XT while Lucas takes his nap this afternoon.

Dana

What a nice way to start my day! :)

What a fantastic way to start the day! Great to hear the AWESOME news! I always tell our patients that I discharge "Stop back and see us now and again, as long as it's not in a horizontal position." Such fabulous news indeed.
   :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:  :banana:

He was absolutely ecstatic with a picture perfect EKG, 110/70 BP, 70 pulse (IIRC) and "very impressive weight loss".

Oh, and on the marathon? When I told him I'd walked, not run, he said "oh yeah, I walked 26 miles before -- between 1986 and 1992!" LOL!!

Cam...that is SOOOO great!!!!

I loved his comment on the distance. :rotfl: I always laugh when I hear people say, "I don't even like to drive 26 miles!", because I really don't like to drive or ride that distance either (I get carsick when I am a passenger) but, I can run it!:dance3:

Thanks for the great welcomes. In response to someone's question (sorry I'm figuring out who people are) about keeping training a secret -- everyone knows I'm running again -- they are just a little fuzzy about how much. I mostly run early in the morning before everyone is up. So they don't know exactly how long I'm gone -- or what I'm doing while I'm out there. I have a feeling they think I'm just poking along smelling the flowers. :cool1:

I have made a big deal about "I'm Christmas shopping all year so I'll be ready early." so I'm planning on doing some "Christmas shopping" in town and really using it for long runs. With a change of clothes, maybe no one will notice that I stink when I return home!

Someone mentioned "stage 4" cancers. I was stage 2, which was a blessing. Someone remarked this week, that the cancer undetected for longer, or the perforation, either one could be deadly. I think one of the many things I learned going through cancer was that our health is really such a blessing. I had fallen into thinking, "I eat right" "I exercise more than average" therefore I am guaranteed good health. Not so! A little pride had gotten in there and I quickly learned that it's not always what we do or don't do that gives us health. Health is certainly a BLESSING I had grown to take for granted.

Well, I better get off -- I have to sew a "tango dress" for my daughter. She and my son are dancing in a ballroom dance expo in a little over a week.

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes.
Dona

Hey, I'm back! What a FAB-U-LOUS time I had! OMG! I so did not want it to end! Naturally, I am back at work and everybody wants a piece of me, so this is just a quick "jog by" post.

Cam, Martha, Carrie, Heather, Rhonda, and Lilly - I had SUCH a great time with you guys! Thanks so much for all the pictures. Mine are a lot of duplicates of what you guys have, but I have a couple of different ones, so I'll post them tomorrow. I had so much fun with all of you. You all brought something unique and very special to the weekend and you all made it so great for me. Thanks you so much for inviting me. And why do I look like I'm about to fall over in the pictures from the gardens at The GF? I wasn't about to faint! Honest!

I had a FAB-U-LOUS time in the parks after you all left. :yay: I met Rhonda and her family at Cosmic Rays. What a beautiful family she has, but I just want to say....that Gentry stole me heart! :cutie: What a little doll! I was so sad when ME came to get me yesterday. I called Charlie and I was crying on the phone. So very sad... But thank goodness I have ToT to look forward to! YAY! :thumbsup2

OK let me read my 950 totally boring work emails.

Dona - Under cover running. How funny! I know I'd never get myself out the door half the time if I did not have dh going with me. Don't know how you do it!

Judy - Welcome back!!! I hope it's not too tramatic for you! lol, I did nnot notice that youlooked like you wer about to fall over in the GF pic. WIll have to look again. :p

Cam- What a great check up that was! Congratulations!

Minnie- Congratulations!

Dona-- You need to download the theme music from "Mission Impossible" onto your ipod to train because it sounds like a spy movie to me! I can't wait to hear about your 'shopping' missions!

Just popping in her for a second to say bye!!! I have been so busy at work today, why is it always like that?? At least it makes the day fly by! Have a wonderful week everyone, we'll be thinking about you all!

Cam: EXCELLENT news about the doctor's report! You are truly an inspiration to us all. Don't feel bad about the stonker workout......you are still recovering from the weekend, so pamper your body and give it a little rest.

Minnie: congrats on your upcoming graduation!

Angie: I think I forgot to congratulate you on treceiving your engineering degree!

Judy: welcome home.....I loved seeing all the photos of you guys. It sounds like your weekend was a blast!

Three important things I forgot to say.....

Cam - I am soooo happy for you. That is is wonderful news! What an inspiration you are, and continue to be.

Kristi - I owe you a big apology and I'm doing it publicly. I went to bed instead of JellyRolls. OK, next time the Long Island Iced Tea is on me.

My Minnie finish time was 2:07:15. I really really really wanted to break two hours, but well, at about mile 8.5 I started to get very tired I couldn't figure out why. I thought maybe it was that I hadn't slept so well. But yesterday I got a "visitor", big time. Sooo, that explains it. :rolleyes1 (Sorry, gentlemen, but you've got to be used to this sort of talk by now.)

Judy - so glad it was not due to the lack of sleep. I *might* have felt responsible. :lmao:

Thanks Mel for the Happy Nurses Week posting. Been an RN for 37 years.

Dona--- Welcome. I am a breast cancer survivor and know how having cancer treatments can consume your life. Great that you are doing so well and have a goal for the marathon.

Cam--- Great news from your physican. You are an inspiration to us all.

Laurie--- Congratulations on your team winning the championship.

Am enjoying everyone's Minnie and Flying Pig reports.

I am trying to work myself back into training after completing my half. I am looking at maybe doing 2 other halfs just as training walks and avoid the boredom of the same area. Harrisburg, Pa has one 9/9 and then Baltimore on 10/13. Has anyone done the Baltimore half.

I did do 4.5 miles yesterday on the rail trail. Mulch is being delivered today so may not have time to do much else except mulching for the next couple of days.

Nancy

Hi everyone! I so haven't had time to catch up on everything yet, but I've really enjoyed reading the Minnie, Flying Pig, and other race reports from this weekend. Congratulations to everyone!! I just got back from WDW yesterday and I had a fabulous vacation..!!

I want to actually sit down and write out a proper trip report, but I'll post a few details here:
I ran the 5K on Saturday in 35:23 for an 11:23/mi pace. I placed 353 out of 1108 (well, really 354 out of 1109 since Matt's chip didn't register when he went across the mat). My mom completed her first ever 5K finishing in 52:00 which she was ecstatic about. We ran as a mother/daughter team so when you combine our times we placed 31 out of 62 for the team.
The 15K on Sunday was a blast (humidity aside)! I loved every minute of the race....well, maybe not quite every minute. As I was running up the ramp just after mile 5 and the female dj was spinning a rather slow country song which was not what I needed for motivation at that point, I didn't enjoy that. But other than that minute right there, I loved all the rest of them! Anyhow, I finished the 15K in 1:45:06 placing 899 out of 1992.

It was so great to finally meet some of you in person and be able to put names with faces! My mom really enjoyed meeting all of you as well. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. My legs are still dead tired, probably from all of the walking around the parks that we did for an entire week. I didn't run Tuesday, I won't be running today, and I'll call my Sunday LR based off of how I feel on Saturday. But otherwise it is time to start training for the Calgary Half Marathon on July 8!!

Cam - I'm sitting here at work crying after reading your post. That's such GREAT news! Congratulations - you deserve every wonderful thing he said. You've worked so hard to get where you are now.

Judy - Glad you're back. It's been very lonely on the TM in the mornings! (Actually, I think I've only run once since Sunday when I did my "pretend" Minnie run. Let's see - I did 6 miles in 84:00, so I was on pace to do a 2:06 for the 9 miles!)

Nancy - Come to Raleigh and do the half with Jeanne and me in November!

Krista - Have fun! Tell Mickey we're packing and will see him real soon! :dance3:

Back to work...

Jackie

Kristi - I owe you a big apology and I'm doing it publicly. I went to bed instead of JellyRolls. OK, next time the Long Island Iced Tea is on me.
No worries! Heck, I wanted to go to bed, but since I was the Jellyrolls ring leader of sorts - there was no backing out. Once I got there I was fine, but all day and evening, I was the walking dead. Oh, and I am not a Long Island iced tea girl - you can owe me sex on the beach! :rotfl:

I just got my lovely test results from the rheumatologist in Boston (who looked at me like I had 3 heads when I saw him). Anywho, 5 of the zillion blood tests were abnormal. But nothing to be concerned about, apparently. :confused3 He does say I have "mild osteoarthritis of the pubic symphysis" though - whatever that means! And he wants further xrays of my knee, for evaulation of the tibial spine.

I am now thinking I should have not checked out this weird leg warmth thing! ;) I am just sitting here hoping this really does mean nothing. I just signed up for the Half last night for goodness sake! :sad2:
