Vic--Should we call you Rocky Balboa? I can't believe your sweet, precious Dusty would do anything bad like that!!!

ADRIANNNNNNN! :lmao: Normally the bag kicks my butt, and as far as sweet and precious goes, he saw something this morning around 0200 that he JUST had to let us know about. He's a labradork. :sad2: :rotfl2:

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

I didn't have time for my pre-work post because I actually ran this morning. I'm trying to add a mid-week semi-LR early in the morning to boost my weekly mileage. I did 8.34 miles in 1:17.17 min/9:16 mpm. I was shooting for 7 miles, but I was a little off on my loop. That's OK it is a beautiful day, and my legs felt great!

OK, gotta get working. I'll be back later!

I survived! Fiorgive me for sounding like a blood-giving whimp. I has ddone it lots, but last time I was at a new place a nd there were pain and tears invovlved. I am happy to say that everythign went just fine last nigght. SHe did put wayyyy too much tape on my arm, so remeoval hurt. I think I can deal with that, though. ;) Thanks for teh dust!

Stephanie - Belated happy b-day!!!! (See, now I've extended your b-day another day. :teeth:

Kevin - Good to see you. Glad you had fun this weekend. The weather was actullally better up norht. Well, except it was in teh 40s when we ran. Better than in teh 80s fo rem though. ;) Glad training's going well. HOpe the new job is still going strong!

SilverSteve - Good to see you!!!! Congrats on hitting the pavement again!!!!:woohoo:

Dream Believer - Welcome!!! Hey, you should join us for Chicago Distance Classic!!!

Krista - COngrats on teh work out! I LOVE Curves. I have been slackign lately, but it's a wonderful supoprtive environment for people who need to start exercising. Shari should get the doc's clearaence before going (I'm gusessing that's a no-brainer, though.) You may want to ask if she'd like teh membership, though. If she feels like it's pushed on her, she may rebel. I really hope not, but I'd hate to see it backfire for you.

Jen - Good luck with the meeting tonight!

WWDave - :rotfl2:

Kim - MfM give you 3 weeks of "reverse taper" to build back up. Not really time off, although only light waklign and XT for the first 5 days. The last week of reverse taper gets you back to about wweek 3 of training, though. So, you won't be too far off. Seeing as you've been training for so long, though, I think you could make it work.

Vic - You adn WWDave are killing me!

Karen - Good to see you!!! COngrats on teh SL 5!!!

WestCliffeMono - That is scary. Although there was a pre-existing condition, we always need to remeber to respect the distance. Thanks fro teh reminder. SOmetimes, we need to step back and thin kabout what we'll be putting our bodies through.

You Ain't Right Club - I think by becoming members of WISH team we may all by members by default. ;)

MiniGolf - WHat a fun idea. We won't get in 'til 11, so I might not be able to swing it, but sounds liek fun!

Dilema - I was going to take a couple weeks off from teh pavement. However, teh pools only got a bout a foot of water adn tehy're about to kick me out of PT. :scared1: So, I'm thinking I need to hit the pavement regularly before my last PPT appt next week. Any thoughts? It is gettign better, but I have also not run on it much in teh last 3 weeks.

Dave - OMG! A midweek run of 8+ miles! Color me impressed! :worship:

Total drive-by....but I had to share:

My friend Debbie from the Goo Goo Dolls fan club boards is signing up for the WDW half right now! :yay:

She just completed her very first half this month!

I am going over there now, to send her over here... :woohoo:

Quick question please.....are you sick of me yet....no please don't answer that:grouphug:

I have printed off a training program and I am OK with all of it except on Thurs they do tempo runs, speed work etc.....i don't want to do any of that... should I just do the distance they recommend just not the splits pacing etc????

Thanks

Kim

Thanks for the advise Carrie. Glad you survived giving blood:hug:

Dave: wow great for you.....that is alot of distance....whew....

Stephanie, Krista thanks for the input.

Can I be a member of the you ain't right club.....I realized I mustn't be to go from nothing to 2 1/2 in a 4 month time frame....lol I will bring cookies next time

Kim

Good Morning TEAM!

DH and I got home last night after spending a week back east. My niece's wedding was wonderful and she was such a beautiful bride..I cried as her father walked her down the aisle:sad1: They grow up so fast.
Funny story my 2nd cousin, who is a great guy, ended up at the wrong reception. He and his girlfriend had their car valet, they enjoyed a few appetizers, took pictures of the wedding cake then noticed that the groom was in military uniform and went oops! He had to call his sister for directions to the right reception. What a doofus!
I only worked out 3 times when I was back home, but I was happy that I had that much accomplished with all the running around we did.
My kitchen floor was to be replaced, while we were gone, but the contractors did not get it all completed, so now I have a refridgerator in my livingroom....what a mess! lol:sad2:

Kim--For my first half and my first full marathon, I didn't do any speed work--my goal for both marathons was just to complete the distance. I know doing speed work really pays off, I just didn't want to do any. On the tempo days, I just ran 3 or 4 miles. Another thing you can do is Hal Higdon's 3/1 "speed work" once a week on your tempo day. The 3/1 is where you run the first 2/3 of your run like normal and your last 1/3 you run 30 seconds faster than your normal pace. It's kind of like speed work lite. :)

Hi everyone - I got my 4.5 mile run in last night. I had meant to meet up with the Penguin group, but as I was driving away from my house I realized I had forgotten my license, turned around to get it, and missed the meet up. Maybe next week. I finished in 51:24 for an 11:25/mi pace. My splits were super consistent, so I was pretty impressed with my ability to stay constant the whole way through. A pet peeve though - this pathway gets quite a bit of heavy use from walkers, runners, cyclists and roller bladers. There were three ladies out walking, side by side, hogging the whole width of the pathway and with all the cyclists and bladers out it was difficult to pass them. When they see heavy traffic shouldn't they go single file?

Kim - Way to go on signing up for the Waterfront. It is on my list of wishful races, but I'm not sure if I'll aim for that next September, or the Marathon Des Deux Rives in Quebec City at the end of August. Decisions, decisions... I'd recommend checking out Hal Higdon's novice plan or Jeff Galloway's plan. I wouldn't get too hung up on interval training just yet - I'd say to focus on putting the steps in. By trying to do too much, too soon - increasing mileage, increasing pace - you put yourself at risk of an injury.

Monte - :rotfl2: Funny story about your 2nd cousin!!!

Carrie - Glad to hear your donation experience was better this time around. I am on the "never allowed to donate" list. I guess that is what I get for living in the UK for 5 years in the height of the mad cow disease era gets me.

Dave - What an impressive early morning run!

Krista - Congrats on getting in that great workout at Gold's. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that Shari likes the Curves idea. I'm hoping to get my DB and DSIL to be more active and I think my SIL is really into the idea of walking races. She's pregnant right now, but has struggled with her weight, and post baby she wants to set a good example for her daughter by being active. She can't run because she has bad knees, so she is really hoping to get my DB into the walking thing too. He is overweight and has asthma so he needs to start slowly too.

Cam - Congrats on getting your workout in on the treadmill!

OK, time to get some work done. Later everyone!

I agree Leana, I am just all about finishing these events at this time. Speed is not a issue. I think you should come to the Waterfront Marathon, I hear it is a really nice run...and flat....lol

Aladdinsgirl: Thanks for the info....I am such a novice with this stuff, I am glad I have you all here to chat with.

Monte: I remember when we redid all our flooring....stove and fridge in the living room....that was fun

Well, I have booked POP for Jan 10 - 14th.... I think we might only go the 11-14th but figure it is easier to cancell a day then add one on. Rates still aren't avail BTW

Ok back to work...

Kim

dreambeliever-Welcome! I'm pretty new here as well but it's great so far.

Carrie-Giving blood or getting blood taken is all about who does it. My brother has it done every month to monitor some problems he has and even he had a bad experience giving blood where he almost passed out. Glad you made it through.

I am going to play a little football tonight with my bf, his brother and a friend, does that count as xt? Really I'm taking it easy tonight because I'm going in to see my doctor tomorrow to get a shot and I figure I should ask her how serious my ankle problems are. I'm also going to see what she would do for a broken toe. I'm falling apart, I'm such a klutz that I accidentally kicked the leg of a chair and broke my piggy toe. It won't affect my running(I've done this before and played hockey.) I'm just curious about wrapping and icing it.

Good morning fellow members of the You Ain't Right Club. :upsidedow

I have no training to report because I am a lazy slug. I had everything all laid out and ready to go this morning, but, well, it just didn't happen.

I had acupuncture for the first time last night, for my tinnitus. OK, who was it that said it didn't hurt? I felt like a pin cushion! And damn, but heck yeah it DID hurt! However, I don't know if it really truly helped or if I just really really want it to, but I do think the ringing is slightly less this morning. I have to go back next Tuesday. Oh yes, I can hardly wait! :scared:

WWDave - Geez, 2:00 on race day I'll probably be napping. 9:30pm is after my bed time and I do need my beauty sleep, so we intend to take a long power nap that afternoon so I can stay up for the post-race festivities. :drinking1

Jen - I read Marley and Me not that long ago. What a great book! I really loved it.

Dave - 8 miles? Mid week? :worship:

Carrie - Glad you're OK after the blood letting, I mean giving.

Monte - The wrong wedding! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Judy - lol about teh blood-letting! BTW, thatnks fo rbeing human now and missing a work out every once and a while. ;)

MOnica - lol. My dh was went to the wrong funeral visitation. He went to sign the guest book, thinking he was at his co-worker's father's showing, adn saw the wrong name. Being the person he is, he went tot he casket and paid heis respects anyway before high-tailing it out of there. :rotfl:

FOr those not yet signed up for ToT: I promised teh Entertainment Director that I would pass this on:

We are building this event as a new signature event in our Endurance Series. We hope it is here to stay as an annual event. Tell all your friends to come out and run this one for me.

I wish they would come out and say something definite about the Minnie race or the Princess race. I really like to plan ahead...

Hi Everyone,

I'm finally getting caught up with this thread. It's been a while. So again another marathon post.

Dona: You can use this site to map out your runs. http://www.usatf.org/routes/map/

Lily: Welcome back. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Laurie: Congrats on your race.

Mel: Beautiful pictures.

Leana: Great race.

Minnie: Glad you signed up for the 1/2. Good luck with your training.

Vic: Nice pictures of your boys.

Jen: Sorry about your allergies. Good job getting back to training, though I thought I read to take 1 day off for every mile you raced. Don't you get a few more days off?

Lisa: Welcome back. Good luck with your training.

Krista: Glad you like your new gym. Hope your sister is doing well.

Dave: Good job with the speedwork and adding a LR. You're really working hard.

Maria: I'm glad you got outside for another run. I've heard that to make the TM equivalent to running outside you have to have it at 2% incline. Maybe that accounts for the difference.

Stephanie: Happy bday and happy shopping.

Dream Believer: Welcome. Good luck with biking today.

Kevin: Good luck with training.

Stacey: Sad news about the runner at the Boulder Race. Good job on your run.

Steve/SilverE: Welcome back. Congrats on the recovery.

Cam: Good job getting back at it.

Karen: Good job on your race.

Carrie: Glad you race went well.

Kim: Good luck with your training. I would recommend looking for a different plan that doesn't include speed/tempo if you don't want to include it. I think the mileage might be lower with this plan since they are expecting you to be working harder on the runs. I think marathontraining.com has a mileage only plan.

Monte: Funny story about your cousin. Good luck with the kitchen.

Poppinspal: Sorry about your broken toe. Hope it doesn't hurt too much.

I ran my 8 mi LR on Sunday. I decided to go off road to give my knees a break. There is Conservation Land about 2 mi from my house so I ran there then following the trail map I had pinned to my shorts ran a 3 1/2 mi loop in the woods. I had such a blast. It took me nearly an hour to run the loop since it was really narrow and hilly and full of rocks and tree roots, but what a great time. I think I'm lucky to have not twisted an ankle, but I'll be doing that run again some time. At one spot it's the highest point in my town and you can see the 30 miles to the Boston skyline. It was so pretty.

I have a question about cutting back my mileage for 1 wk before ramping up again. When I do that should I be eliminating the tempo/speed work too for that week? What about XT? Is it best to give my legs a rest, or should I be using the ellyptical or bike instead of the miles?

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Opening a show this weekend so this will be quick! But I know you missed the Evil I bring to the group!;)

Stephanie - I have the Marathon girl and love it...It is so breezy!:lmao:

Krista - :grouphug: :wizard: for your sis!

Ain't Right Club - :rotfl: :rotfl:

dreambeliever - Welcome!

My training
ran 18.5 Friday (12 by myself and 6.5 with Bree)
biked Sat then played tug-o-war with a moving boat.....AKA Knee boarding
Sunday swam....all day
Monday ran 6 VERY hilly miles in GA....about an hour outside of Macon then more boat tug-o-war
Tuesday ran 5 miles
Today I am trying to recover from all the dancing I have had to do during rehearsals...

Wish I had the energy to respond to everyone...

Dave - 8 miles mid-week? Join the You Ain't Right Club!

Krista - Glad there was nothing really seriously wrong with Shari. Hope she will do what she needs to do.
Do lab/chow mixes count?

Dreambeliever - Welcome!

SilverSteve - Welcome back!

Felt lousy Friday night. Went to bed at 8:30. Got up at 5:45 and met the group for our 5 mile run that turned out to be 5.85 miles. It was the hardest run I've ever done. I felt horrible - watched the Garmin the entire way, waiting for the next walk break. Probably had no business out there running, but I was determined not to miss the third run of the "season." Came home and promptly fell back in bed, where I spent most of the weekend. I did take the dog for a 1.5 mile walk Sunday morning with a brief stop at the dog park, but the rest of the time was spent in bed or on the couch. And the bad news is that I feel worse now than I did then. I can't breathe, can't stop coughing; I haven't run all week, and we're scheduled for 6 miles Saturday and I leave in ONE WEEK for WDW. Oh yeah, DD and DH have it too.

I've read the posts this week but haven't even felt like posting, so I know I'm sick! And I'm getting depressed too cause I'm tired of feeling like crap. Sorry for the whining, but I needed to vent to people who'll understand why it's so horrible that I can't run!

Gotta go back to work - came home for a 3-hour nap!

Jackie

Ok the "You ain't right club will come to order now". President and member Big Vic overseeing the weeks activities. Registered member and class clown, Judy the HonneiBee will hosting the LLama tipping this evening. It's DianeL's turn to bring cookies. (Healthy, with dark chocolate chips, and almonds).

First order of business: We need to vote on the motion to throw some of the purple clad 'Team in Training' honneys to the Boogy at ToT instead of Judy. There are plenty so no one would miss a few of them.

Then we need to announce the afternoon WISH gathering at the Fantasia Mini Golf course, in the boardwalk area. Followed by lunch. This is Robert's idea and tentitave plan is for about 2:00 oclock. This would be on the day of the ToT for everyone to get together in a relaxed atmosphere before the evenings racing.

Ok I'm slinking off now to walk. Y'all have a great day.

WWDave:hippie:

I've appointed WWDave as the Sergeant at Arms, and Judy as the Court Jester. Anyone else? :)

I was thinking we should sacrifice a virgin as one of our rituals. Well... :lmao:
