Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from non-running beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

First post...has nothing to do with us, but...........

My driver Kasey Kahne just won the NASCAR ALL STAR Challenge!!!! He started last and won. That just goes to show you that no matter what you always hang in there because you just never know what can happen. !!!!

GO number 9!!!!!!!!!!

3 miles this morning. Nothing fancy.

Great to see so many new folks joining us this week!

AmyBeth...how many days a week do you recommend for starting off with Pilates? I run 3 days a week.

Tracy...those lizards have become a real nuisance where my mom lives in Cape Coral.

Steve...glad you're still alive!

Howard...congrats on nearing the end of your program!

Debra, Ryley...good luck on your races tomorrow!

:welcome: to all the new members!

Steve
- Welcome back! I think I remember you??? :rotfl:

Did 4 miles with our group yesterday. Also did our first timed mile of the season. Warmed up for the first mile of the run doing 3R/1W, then were supposed to run at around 80% for the next mile then back to intervals. I finished in 9:45! (Full disclosure - it was 50 degrees yesterday morning and the route was almost all downhill! Absolutely perfect conditions.) And as I told one of my teammates, I couldn't put two of those miles together to save my life. Then we turned around and had to run back uphill. Ouch!

Got up and did Pilates for Dummies this morning - now headed out for game 3 of DD's soccer tournament (not going well, now just ready for it to be over! They were undefeated for the season and lost both games yesterday.)

GO number 9!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to Kasey.

I'm a Dale Jr. fan, but it was nice to see the Budweiser car in Victory Circle.

Pretty boring race though. If this was any indication, the 600 is going to be one boring race.

:)

Vic, I'm more of a Tony fan!

Anyway, after too much food, booze followed by not enough good sleep, I managed to get in 45 minute swim and a 32 minute run...Had to cut the run short (NOT going to cry myself to sleep about THAT) so I could take one of the little rippers to his last day of sunday school for the year.

Have a great day/week all!

Mike

I got up at a good time today and no smoke in the air!! I did a 4mile walk in 56min13.67sec. about a 14:03 pace. I didn't feel to overpushed by I was sweating like a pig. WIll be a hot day here today. There was a nice breeze which helped alot. Got home, showered, ate breakfast, drink my recovery chocolate milk and I'm watching the CBS SUnday Morning show (I love this show)

Jeff: Here is another thread that I'm subscribed to that shows people's medal, maybe they can be merged??
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1783112

Debra and Ryley: Hope all is going well at your races today.

Duckie: hope you went over the racewalking event. Tell us how it went.

Take care all and have a good Sunday.

Hey team - Yesterday I did almost 3 miles with the dog, then this morning I got up early and did a little over 6 miles on the TM. I have my 1/2 marathon in one week and for some reason don't feel like I am trained at all. Weird, maybe because I did my LR at the Minnie???? Oh well, after this race I am cutting back a little to work on speed and longer intervals. So my distance will hurt a little, but I am OK with that. I have no major races planned until WDW. Maybe a few 5K's if I can find come local (they aren't as plentiful here as some of you have!).

Jackie - Speedy mile... congrats.

Mel - I am so jealous of your runs at POR. We booked POFQ for our summer vacation and am very excited to scout out the trails there. We stayed there in January and I didn't have the time then!!!

Tracy - That lizard freaked me out a bit. At first I thought it was a gator and was no big deal.... then you said it was a monitor and it was BIG... WOW.

OK, gotta run to church and then to a potluck goodbye meal for Emma's school principal and Kate's daycare administrator.

Megan - Welcome back!! Cool that you signed up for ToT (gotta do that race one of these years myself)...will be fun watching your progress :)

Duckie
- Mmmmm...sugar cookie...and the ice cream link....mmmmmmm....thank you for providing yummy food inspired posts!

Johanna - sign up for that 5k in August yet??? huh, did ya??? Thanks for the nice comments on my blog...much appreciated!!

Tracy
- Cool to see that you have started DL 1/2 training! So glad that smoke has finally cleared for you guys!

jakenjacksmom - Welcome! MtM is the bible of training as far as I'm concerned...you'll be so well prepared for that princess 1/2, and it sounds like there will be a huge WISH contingent there too :goodvibes:

Rpsemont - Congrats on completing your first 5k!! Outstanding time!! I'm with you on the wine comment though :) Maybe someone needs to start a core+wine training program :rotfl:

Carrie - So, the showers opened up during the 8 miler? Or the shower in your house became free so you had to do? Or you were sitting there and the shower opened up by itself? I'm so confused. LOL!

Steve
- WOAH! Did i see Steve posting?? Will wait for another post to verify that it's actually true. (good to see ya!)

Mel -

Jackie - that was a great mile!! Nice work!!

Jen - I think you'll be just fine for that half marathon...those feelings are normal. Have fun with your Sunday activities today!

Debra - Hope the race today was good!!

Amy - Just 'cause :goodvibes:

Scott's World - Biked 26 miles (17.9 mph) on the Silver Comet yesterday (jealous Carrie?)..oh wow...26 mils, kind of like a marathon for the bike LOL (only MUCH MUCH easier to accomplish) and I'm getting ready to go run 8-10 miles at my local park. I did finish the trip report last night and now I don't know what to do LOL. I'll check back in later today after the run :)

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Mel: I recommend to clients doing Pilates 3 times per week! But as many times as you can fit your schedule will help. Consistency is key..at least doing it a few times per week. :thumbsup2

Debra: I'm so sorry that I've been MIA from the events thread and didn't get to wish you the best of luck as you race today. I am anxiously awaiting a post from you to see how you did :goodvibes . We're looking forward to hearing about this race since it was on our short list this year! Thanks for everything btw ;).

Megan: So nice to see you back!!!! :goodvibes

Jackie: WOW...great mile..you must be so proud of that! Speedy!!!!! :cool1: WTG on getting the Pilates in too!

Tracy: NICE JOB on the 4 miler today!

Duckie: I have a few events on my calendar but they are all up north here! I hope your event went well...looking forward to hearing how it was!!!

Jen: I'm late to post but just had to say I *LOVE* your hair...perfectly frames your face!

Krista:  You are too sweet...thanks for the nice comment on my hair. BTW...if Carter arrives on 8/8 he will share a b'day with my oldest DD!!! You know what's funny...my first was born on 8/8 and my second on 2/2 LOL. Isn't that odd? Anyway...I'm pulling for another 8/8 baby...and an interesting fact....the number 8 is considered to be very lucky in China. Not sure what that means to you and me but I have a whole newspaper article in my DDs memory box stating how it's a very lucky number. LOL!

Steve:  Hi! I know you've been busy but it's great to see ya here!

Mike: Nicely done on the workout despite the over indulgances ;). WTG!!!

Rozzie: I own a yoga for runners DVD called Power Yoga for Runners (David Birch). I have to say that the production quality STINKS...but the poses and flow are great. But I'm serious...the production is awful...NOT splashy, pretty awful :rotfl2: . I've had trouble finding good quality yoga dvds that give me enough of a workout. Please let me know if you find one :). Oh...and WELCOME!

Cecilia: How did those softball/baseball games go? We're full on in the season here too but the weather was awful this weekend so we had a few monsoon-outs, er, I mean rain-outs. Usually we play in the rain but all the fields are now lakes so we're waiting for things to dry out. Gonna' be playing until September at this rate.

JakenJackiesMom: WELCOME!!!!! :)

rpsemont: GREAT 5K!!! :yay:

ksoerlein: WELCOME!!! :) Join the fun and post away!

Carrie:  Just had to give ya' one!

Johanna: Yes...signing up for a local race is a great idea! :) I'm with ya...it still takes me a good half mile to warm up and feel "into" the run. You've got a great plan and a great attitude!

Stacie: Love your TRs from the Minnie. Miss you guys! I'm SO proud of you with your 5K! Wow...a trophy. It represents all the hard work and dedication you've had in your training. You deserve it!!!

Cam: Had to say that I love your Sketchers for the wedding! You're going to be so darn beautiful...makes me all excited imagining your big day!!!! :goodvibes

Scotty: *sigh* I'm still bumming over the change of plans for DL but I know that we'll find a cool fall race and all will be well. Your weekend training has been incredible...last week with those mega bike rides and now this weekend you are at it again. Great job...you keep me going buddy.

Sorry to anyone I've missed...didn't keep up with the thread at all this week so I know I've forgotten some people. I'll try to get back into the groove!

As for me...well....I did manage to get one run in this week but torrential rains and lots of school activities during the day kept me from getting the 2nd run in. I did manage to take 3 spin classes, 2 pilates classes and 1 yoga class in addition to the classes I taught this week, so overall a great XT week but not a great running week.

Unfortunately, a really crummy week ended last night true to form with my getting food poisoning. :sad2: I was sick all night and still feel shaky today. So obviously no run for me today. *sigh*. Was truly "one of those weeks" and I'm glad to start fresh with a new one. I'll try to spend more time on this thread as you all give me so much inspiration! :thumbsup2

I'm ready to start my C25K. Just need to cat to wake up from her nap so I can have my ankles back. Doh! and it just started raining with clothes out on the line!

Good afternoon, team!

Mel
: Getting three miles in is getting three miles in, fancy or not. :) Well done!

Jackie
: Great job getting those steps in, and great time! And hey, it can't be all uphill all the time, so enjoy the downhills when you get them! As you found out, the uphill is always waiting on the way back.

Mike
: Way to go getting those laps and steps in. Our church always had Sunday school during the week so it took up an evening activity...

Tracy
: I did go! I did! And I finished! I'll post a RR on the other thread, but I'm really proud of myself. :) Thank you so much for all your encouragement. I only tried because of you. Tracy=hero!

Jen: Wow, what a busy weekend! I'm sure the dog appreciated the 3 miles yesterday (my dog was sad that she couldn't do the charity walk yesterday). Good luck finding some 5Ks near you!

Scott
: Happy to be of service. :) Maybe if you knew someone in New Jersey you could go... :rolleyes1 Karen and John live nearby, too, so maybe we can make the ice cream festival a WISH training event. ;)

Amy
: I'm still looking for local races since driving two hours would cut into my fun. ;) That said, I did think the 10K George Washington walk looked interesting. Have you ever done it? And yes, I did my event today. :)

mla1977
: Oh, no! Get the laundry!

As for me, I PRed (easy, since I never did a judged racewalk before!) for the 5K. The race director is a big fan of the 60 minute event, though, so when you finish you have to keep going for an hour... So I did 4.5 miles total in 63 minutes. :goodvibes And I had fun. And I was DLF. But only for my event--there were still people walking who were doing the 15K and 20 K :rolleyes1 But I did it!

Good afternoon WISHers!

Hoping everyone is have a great Sunday.

No training to report as I rolled my ankle a bit yesterday. I was walking in the front yard and hit a divit. :rolleyes1 :rotfl: Anyhoo, its a little sore, so we'll give it a couple of days to heal.

To all of our new teammates - :welcome:

Mel - WTG with the 3 miler!

Jackie - WTG with the 4 miler!

Mike - WTG with the bikd and run this morning!

Jen - WTG with the 3 and 6 milers!

Tracy - WTG with the 4 miler!

Scott - WTG with the 26 miler!

Amy - WTG with the training!

mla1977 - Get'er done! :thumbsup2

Duckie - WTG with the PR!!

Hey!

Welcome to new folks, Hello again to everyone else.

Going to try to keep up with this thread this week. Should have more time since my activity level will be seriously decreased.

Friday after work we went out to get in some bike miles before dinner. Got about 4.5 miles from the house on a new trail, stopped to figure out which way to go, got my right foot caught in the toe clips (they're new) while unfortunately the bike was starting to lean so you can figure out what happened next. Fell about 1.5 feet off the path, into a drainage ditch and landed on very hard, sharp large rocks at the edge of the concrete sewer. Had to call an ambulance as once Patrick got the bike off of me and me off the rocks, I couldn't move my right leg w/o screaming.

Fortunately nothing is broken however it feels like something just under the skin of my right hip is being torn apart. They said it's a really bad contusion so rest, ice, take the pain meds and it'll heal. Naturally for me that meant take meds then went out grocery shopping yesterday - paying for it today. Entire right side of back from mid rib cage down to hip is swollen. So now sitting here with ice and laptop. Not sure about work tomorrow.

Needless to say did not do the 5K or my bike event this weekend. Hoping to feel well enough by next weekend to do at least part of the 2 day bike ride.

Going to back up into last week's thread to see if I can at least partially catch up.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hey WISH teamers...

The tradewinds are back, so the VOG (Volcano Fog - consisting of sulfuric acid) has blown out to sea. We had a nasty week and a half of it, and HOT weather. Princess #1 suffered with her asthma and runny nose, and the Queen has had a hacking cough the last week. Hopefully it stays away.

The clinic was back over 200 people today. My Pink group cranked out 10 miles in about 90 minutes, so about a 9:00 minute pace give or take. With the heat, we made sure to hit every water stop along the way.

Now it's off to our Girl Scout meeting, followed by Princess #2's graduation ceremony from pre-school. Yeah, only one more month of pre-school payments, then off to kindergarten.

Have a great Sunday everyone, and keep up the training.

P.S. OUCH Liz, take care of your injuries. :wizard:

Checking back in, post graduation ceremony.

Liz: OMG! Are you okay? That sounds scary! Good that Pat was there to get the bike off of you (Well done, Pat!).

Rest, take it easy, watch bad daytime tv... I hope you are feeling better soon! PD to you!

Jeff
: Thanks for the VOG explanation (I was just going to keep making things up--today was "very old greenbeans"). Hope your daughter's and Queen's lungs and throats feel better soon!

I would love to be in a PINK group, but I can't go that fast. Guess it's better I'm here and not in Hawaii anyway.

Have a great week!

Liz - ok, now I'm re-thinking the idea of looking into getting the clips for my bike! :scared: But I hope the injuries get better soon for you! Ouch!

Did my first official 5k of the year yesterday. What a horrible day for it! I was our hottest day of the year...102! Yuck! I have only 4 more weeks until my first tri and I sure hope it's not as hot!

Have a great week everyone!

LIZ: OMG!!! Like are you ok?? (trying to use my best valley girl talk) Take care of that injury girlfriend. I'm so glad you had someone there with you - that's a lesson for everyone - either have a buddy or take your cell phone no matter how far you go unless you think you can make it back to your house.
ICE, ICE and rest. Let us know how its going. (loved out little chat after the Test Track Tour!)

Duckie: Waiting to see your RR..........

Jeff: Glad the VOG is gone, I had no SOG today!! :woohoo:

Michelle: Sorry to hear about your yucky 5K, and I am hoping that the weather gets better and the temps get lower.

Debra: how did your event go??

OMG Liz...YIKES...you poor thing! :sad2: . I had a nasty fall while clipped into my pedals at an intersection last year...it wasn't pretty but NOTHING as bad as you. So sorry you are in such pain. REST girl! And take care of those injuries. VERY scary..thank goodness nothing was broken :(.

Michelle...Good job racing in the heat. Are you using a specific plan for the upcoming Tri? I was going to do the SheRox tri in August but work schedule might dictate otherwise. I was looking at Hal Higdon's Triathlon plan..it looked simple to follow LOL...which is my first priority ;). Anyway...sounds like your training is coming right along.

Aloha Jeff: Glad to hear the VOG is back out to sea! Sounds like your group did great today at the clinic! :thumbsup2

Vic: Hope that ankle heals up quickly!
