Wk of June 3--WISH Walking/Running Club

Bill are trying to say you had the posture of a Jumbo Shrimp? Glad you got that under control.:thumbsup2

I'm not sure, are you referring to a big shrimp or a little jumbo? Kind of like the problem with hot water heaters (why do we need to heat the water if its hot, shouldn't it be a cold water heater?) and the age old question of why we park on driveways, but drive on parkways?

As to a legal stamp, if the YARC has already moved from its historical (week old anyway) roots of being a democracy to now having a monarch, I'm not sure any legal stamp is required or would have any authority. To all our WISH, YARC and other monarchs, remember that we peasants have often rejoiced to the chant "The King is dead. Long live the [new] King."

Krista-Under Ronald Reagan's presidency, ketchup counted as a vegetable in the school lunch programs. Thus, I'll back you on the blueberries and lime (for what its worth).

Judy - I am so sorry about Logic. I must have missed all of that when I was in hiding. Ashamed at my lack of running since Disney. I can imagine it has been rough. Take Care,

Well, I was feeling well enough to get out there today and run. I did 3 miles in 26:09, then ran another 1.4 miles in 20 minutes with DS6. He is up to a r2/w1!! And he is so proud of himself. I didn't experience ANY pain with running which is definately a plus, and most of the pain from the accident itself has cleared up. I can turn my head with no pain at all, it's still a little tender to the touch though, and I think I have a bruise on my butt. Don't know for sure how I accomplished that one (there's nothing I could think of that I could have hit my butt on), but never the less it is still there. It looks as if I will be doing my runs in the neighborhood until the insurance stuff is settled and my new Tahoe gets here. We found one we liked, but it is in another state and they are shipping it here. Hopefully after I get the new car I'll be able to go back to the rail trail for my runs, it makes it much easier to judge the distance. Anyway, done rambling for now. Tomorrow is a XT day. I'll probably do legs strengthening, and some cardio. I'll talk to you guys then!!

Dana

Is it ok to use my TM during thunder/lightening storm? I have visions of it getting zapped and me having to run 100 mph....

I don't think you'll get zapped, but you may go flying off the back if the power goes out!!!! Just ask Judy or Carrie for that matter!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Dana, glad to hear you are feeling better.

What is this though?

No Garmin? Yuo've just GOT to get one!

I'm the Pretty Princess of YARC, can I be canIhuhhuh? My young men have given me that honorable name when they have discovered that The Mama is mad--Pretty Princess is not happy. That is if it remains a monarchy. If we remain as originally incorporated, then I think I'll transfer my WISH Team Dog Catcher title over.

Pungodingy, my house occupants have a philosophy that all things electrical must cease. I however do not have an official ruling to pass along to you other that it might stop abruptly if power goes. Be ready. You might want to consult with Carrie on TM readiness.

Dave and Erica, sounds like a nice 10k. Oh and Dave, what a nice thing to say aobut walking with that someone special.

Jen, good luck to DH with the surgery, and to you too.

No more time left. Later all...

PungoAngie - I would think that your TM would stop before going 100 mph. However, being ready and alert on a TM is always a good thing! Yup, got the scars to prove it. :rolleyes1

PrettyPrincess - I like it! You'll always be the Dog CAtcher though!

Krista - Scott could give you a hwole list of acceptable veggies. ;) I like the lime in teh diet Coke best, though! On the bright side, with all those fruits and veggies, there's no room for bad stuff. Yup,, something I need to try for...

Dana - Hope you get teh new vehicle soon!

Jen - Prayers that work gets less ehated soon adn dh's surgery adn recovery go smoothly!

Krista, yes Judy is the Queen of "YARC", you on the other hand are the beautiful but mysterious Queen of the WISH Team. The fact that you have a wicked side makes you a perfect complement to Judy's mischevious side.
Dave:hippie: "YARC"

I think you mean Christa.....gatorphipps...EVIL queen, Notice the EVIL is in CAPS and BOLD!!:lmao: ;) :rotfl:
I WISH I were nice...but I am not and I have just accepted it.;)

Just had a couple of minutes before a meeting to actually catch up on this thread.

Erica you are certainly "YARC" material. Even though you had the good sense to marry me you have a querky side that makes you fit right in.

Dave- Not trying to pry into personal business, but your relationship with Erica has now progressed to the point that you communicate with your wife through public message boards? I'm feeling better about the what seems like 15 minutes a day my wife and I get to actually see each other. Maybe Dr. Carrie can help you guys if necessary.

Also Dave, see the problem with going to monarchs. They are already fighting and positioning for TITLES. (See above post by Her Most Royal EVIL Queen of Running and Judy calling me out for forgetting to mention her in my post in last week's thread.)

It's not that Erica and I need the board to communicate it's just that I get blamed for everything I do. She is out getting made more beautiful, I'm a hopeless case there.

Yes Bill Royalty will do that, we ralley round the one who brings the beer. Where the heck is spell check on here?

Dave:hippie: "YARC" loyal subject

I can tell I have alot of fun to catch up with here, but we are leaving for Tae Kwon Do soon, so I just wanted to report in (since I actually did something today!).

I just finished doing 32 mins. of my toning DVD!
Plus warm up & cool down.

I actually stopped watching Amazing Race Season 1, cleaned up Zack's toys off the living room floor, and got to it!

Question for my expert YARC people - should I have xt sneakers for toning? I wore my running ones, but I felt like I didn't have enough support when doing lunges & such.

I'll catch up later!

Kristi, sounds like a very good reason to buy some cool crosstraining shoes. I recommend new shorts and tops to.

Thanks to everyone who gave me a warm welcome. I've taken a few baby steps past the title of "lurker":

1. I actually posted a couple of times.
2. I called DVC and reserved a studio at BWV for marathon weekend.
3. I looked at the Jeff Galloway "To Finish" schedule and worked backwards from the marathon date. This puts me at June 25 for my first "long run/walk" of 3 miles.
4. I told my DD6 I was considering doing this. She is on a competitive cheerleading team that travels quite extensively. She understands that doing this will leave her with a friend for the weekend and without me to cheer her on. She is more than okay with this and looks forward to staying with a friend!

Here is what I still actually need to do for this to become more of a reality:
1. Tell my DH. He won't be thrilled. I did the 1/2 in 03 and the full in 05. I've had 3 knee surgeries, including a reconstruction, and will be doing this with pins in my knees. He's afraid I will really hurt myself and end up in a wheelchair. He is also not a Disney fan but will probably be there for me.
2. Register and pay the registration fee.
3. Actually start to train.

Questions I still have:
1. So, how do I get this t-shirt? Does it come in Pooh sizes? Does it come in "tech" material or just cotton?
2. Consider running/walking for a cause (other than my own.) Accepting donations may force me to "not quit" and I will be doing something for the common good. I will stay away from TNT - not ready for that kind of financial commitment this time. I've worked with them before and enjoyed it, though.

That's all for now! Chat with you later!

marathonmommy - WISH shirts will be aviailable for order in teh next jmonth or 2, depending on teh results of teh poll I'm taking. My sig will have updates on that. Yes, they come in Pooh sizes. I think up to XXXL in men's. Yes, it is a wicking material, although some cotton styles are available for scream teams or wearign when you're screamin' for others. COngrats on making ressies and dd's reaction!

Kristi--I've read in several places to only wear your running shoes for running and nothing else. I have no idea why though. I always wear my running shoes for xt and haven't noticed anything wrong or weird. Congrats for getting your wo in!

marathonmommy--Congrats on getting the BWV's for the marathon!! I think running for an organization is a wonderful idea, it keeps you accountable and it's going to help A LOT of people.

Jen--I was just thinking about you today. I'm sorry that things are getting a little heated in your neck of the woods. Is it your daughter's school? Your aunt causing trouble again? A little bit of both?

Lily--I think the Dog Catcher needs to go on the hunt! Where is Sunny? Helen? Heather?

Good evening everyone!!!

I am soooo behind in posts I am so sorry.....I won't work so hard at work tomorrow:rolleyes1 So hopefully I will be able to stay on top of tomorrows posts.

Just off to DD's soccer game.....it is freezing here right now....5C, sorry not sure what that is in F but darn cold. It was over 30 on the weekend we where melting...now I have to bring a comforter with me ....uuggghh

Have a great night.

Kim

Krista - Thanks for thinking of me!!! I think we have pretty much decided that DD will change schools, tho she is quite upset about it. We are going to the new school on Friday to meet her new teacher, that is if we decide to change. The biggest problem is my aunt. It is quite a twisted story and I can't talk about it right now because of legal actions being taken. I will share more when I can. It is really stressful me because I was told to watch my back because of all of this.

Thank goodness I have running and exercise to take some tension away!

Yes, Dave -- CDC is the Chicago Distance Classic on August 12. It is a John Bingham race and I desperately want the penguin medal.

Here you go Cam! Your very own Penguin medal is just a few weeks away! And there are plenty for the entire WISH team! The last part of the course is right along Lake Michigan, it is gorgeous!
