Wk of June 3--WISH Walking/Running Club

Cam--- I love Leslie Walk away the pounds videos. I like to get them out every so often for XT. She has been on the QVC lately with her new one which is a 5 mile workout. DS#1 works in the broadcasting department for the QVC and told him to get me tickets sometime when she is going to be there.

Nancy
Nancy -- very cool! I found a 3 CD set that includes walk/jog, walk/kick, and another one. :confused3 I am eager to try the others, but was doing the XT session in my BR and thought the jog stuff might be a bit noisy to DH in the study below our room! :surfweb: :rotfl2:

Krista -- so glad Hines seems to be doing better. :goodvibes

Carrie -- congrats on being done PT, but I hope you find such improvement with the lift that you don't feel it ended too soon. :cool1:

Good morning WISH team and fellow "YARC" members.

I had a wonderful walk workout on the hills this morning. It was 4 miles total with the first mile slow warm-up and then progressively faster, last mile was 11:53 most of it up a pretty good hill.

I have the dreams unlimited agent, Bob Varley, booking us into the Swan for the Marathon week trip. He had me book the Swan for arriving Dec 30 and departing Dec 31, then he can edit it for the time period in 2008 as soon as it come available and the discounts are listed.

Anyone else staying in the Epcot area for the Marathon trip?

Have a great day y'all.

Dave:hippie: "YARC"

Good morning WISHers and YARCers -

This morning Charlie and I did things a little differently. Instead of hitting the TM I got him up early and we went out on the road. We were on the pavement by 5:40am. It would have been really really nice except for some reason I just could not get it in fifth gear. It was a beautiful morning and I was so happy to be outside. But I just felt like I had no energy. Plus, for whatever reason, my hip and right thigh hurt like heck. and just to add to my unhappiness, at about mile 2.5 I started feeling sick and I seriously thought I was going to pull a Kevin in front of the neighbor's house. I did more mileage in the same amount of time that I would have routinely done on the TM, and even though my splits were embarrassing, they were at least negative.

But at any rate, there you have it. At least I trained today.

WWDave - With the proper amount of bowing and scraping as you have demonstrated, plus the flowers....you are forgiven. :snooty:

Dana - Thank you for your kindness.

Angie - Here's a tip: Turn off the dehumidifier while your on the TM. Ours is plugged into the same outlet and when it kicks on the TM very suddenly sloooooows down and WHOA I have to grab the handles. :scared: I personally might be a little nervous about using the TM in a really bad electrical storm. I haven't actually had that happen yet, but I'd probably wait it out.

Nepatsfan - So, wait, let me get this straight. If the lime in Diet Coke with lime counts as fruit, when I put Captain Morgan Parrot Bay rum in it, I'm getting two fruits since the rum is coconut flavored?? Excellent! :thumbsup2 It's practically health food!

Kristi - I don't use my running shoes for anything other than training. But that's just me. :goodvibes

Marathonmommy - JSYK, ending up in a wheelchair after the race had it's benefits, as I can tell you from experience! You get a free ride to the bus, which is very, very far away... :goodvibes

Krista
- I wonder about Sunny too. I hope she's OK. And yeah, where is that Helen? Maybe she's on a book tour. :confused3 I know Heather just bought a house and had just moved in so she's very busy. Oh what a cute new picture in your signature! :cutie:

Jackie - Thanks for the comments about the pictures. It was a fun local race. Yeah, I miss our morning TM runs too, but you know, it will be winter before we know it and we'll be back on the TM every day. Ohh, let's not think about winter yet! Hey, have a fabulous time!! :yay:

Jen - You need this:  and :mickeybar and :wizard:

Terri - I think by virtue of being a long distance athlete, pretty much everyone here is a YARC member by default. :upsidedow However, since you have treated the Queen with the proper amount of respect, you are now a VIP Member.

Dave - YAY! :yay: PC! :woohoo: YAY! Say, it was mighty chilly down here this morning too! Whats up with that?? It's June, for crying out loud!

Ok, here's what the doctor said yesterday. I have plantar fascitis and I need therapy and orthodics (sp?), which my insurance doesn't cover. Yikes, they are expensive! So my half marathon this Saturday is a no go and I'm hoping to be better by my July Leadville walk. What a bummer! On a lite note, DH surprised me with a brand new Electra cruiser bike yesterday. It's very girlie...pink and white with tasels on the handle bars. Very cool. Now I need a bell and a basket!:goodvibes

Here's a dumb question: What does YARC stand for?

Here's a dumb question: What does YARC stand for?

Monte, "YARC", stands for the "You ain't right club". Hard as this is to believe there are some of us on here who have behaved a bit strangely.

Judy, Beautiful and Mischevious Queen, of "YARC":snooty: , thank you for forgiving your lowest subject.

Dave :hippie: "YARC"

Monte - Welcome to CLUB PF. I got orthotics in early May. They really do wonders tho (and yes the prices is :scared1: )

Cam and Kristi - If you have NetFlix, there are a lot of Leslie Sansome videos on there. I have her 2 mile walk and decided to rent some to see if I like any others. Unfortunately they are on the list, but DH keeps bumping them down for other movies. One day I will get them tho!!!

Judy - So sorry the run was a stonker. I hate it when that happens. But you get an A+ for effort!

Jen--We're on the fence for CDC. We have the hotel booked and as of right now, we are planning on running it. But I'm having a very hard time justifying an $800 weekend, especially when 2 months later we'll be spending about $1500 at WDW. I'll keep everyone posted.

Judy--Sorry the run this morning wasn't the best, but it's over and done with and you got your steps in! Oh and that stupid picture took me over an hour to resize and resize and resize again!

Monica--I am so sorry about the PF! I hope it feels better soon! :wizard: Your bike is giving me visions of Phoebe's bike on Friends that she rode with training wheels!

Krista & Steven - You HAVE to do CDC!!!!!!!!! I think you need to live it up now, before kids tie you down. ;) ;)

Nancy...isn't it better to have bird poop on your pants than to have it on your head?

My blister has finally healed enough that I can get back to business...took almost a week!

marathonmommy-You might want to have your dh look at this not as a Disney thing but as a way of you staying healthy and having a goal for it all. That's how I explain it to non-Disney fans in my life. (Mostly co-workers and friends, my extended family loves Disney!)

Nancy-My mom had a bird poop on her face while enjoying a mickey bar in front of spalsh mt. (I can honestly see the scene like it's yesterday.) That was probably 8 or 9 years ago, we still get a good laugh about it to this day. It's supposedly good luck.

From Jackie's story it sounds like our dogs could all be mascots of the YARC.

Oh I did actually have a workout to report. 2 miles this morning and now I can't recall my time and I don't have my ipod on me to check. I think my pace was 11 minute miles or something. I am starting to think while I have more energy after running in the morning, the actual run goes better in the afternoon when I've had time to wake up. (6am is too early.)

For all you hockey fans... The Stanley Cup will be in the building tonight and I hope the Ducks don't get pre-Cup jitters. (You know like wedding jitters only with the Stanley Cup?) I'll be glued to my tv tonight for sure.

I'm hoping to register for the WDW Marathon this weekend and try to nail down some hotel plans. The only probably is that I'd like my Dad to be there to see me run my first marathon, he's always followed me to every sporting event. My boyfriend thinks he'd like to go and usually takes a few days off in January so it'd work out perfectly. Of course I'm not sure my dad would go without the whole family. Plus my cousin who is supposedly going to run with me. Maybe there's something to be said for solo trips after all....

Megan - :wizard: That all works out for your scream team. Things do have a way of doing that. :goodvibes I still can't believe my parents made it to my first one, but they did.

Christa- I'm trying to do a mid week semi-LR to build up my weekly mileage. I want to try to get up to around 30 miles/week as a base before I start my official marathon training. I'm kind of using a modified Hal Higdon training plan where he has a midweek LR. I would like to build the Wednesday morning run to a max of 10 miles. I am trying to build the 30 miles/week up slowly so I don't hurt myself though. I did 26 miles last week. I need to keep up with you my dear for that 4 hour WDW marathon.

OH...I understand Dave! It is hard to get the 30 miles in...I can do 28 really easy but those last 2 miles are hard to get in for some reason. WTG on the run...Well you don't need to worry about me at WDW this year b/c at this point...we aren't going.:sad1: OK there I said it.

Christa--How can you be the Evil Queen and yet be a hero to so many children and families? Are you like Jekyll and Hyde?
Krista - Lots of times I am nice to the kids and put the whop chow down on the parents. Some teens need the whop chow too though.;) Most of the time it works out in the end...this is why I run though....So I don't go crazy! OOPPS, too late! I am in the YARC!

Bird poop...Nancy? That is just nasty! Hope you recover from it!;)

As of yet, I have not run or biked or anything exercize wise today...may not get to. Dave, I am going to have to start getting up early like you!

Oh no, there goes my pacer! Christa- I know you have to do what's best for your family, and you've certainly done the WDW full a lot now. Just know we'll miss you if you're not there. Heck, I still don't know if I'll be there. I need to talk to DW about it. So did you ever decide about the Grandfather Mountain marathon? Are you running that one in July?

Nah, not doing that one either....so I am bummed! But as of now, I am trained up for a marathon...just need to find one to run.:rotfl: Thanks! I will miss you guys too...but who knows, I am still holding out for a WISH come true!;)

Christa--Oh no!!!! I will be hoping for a miracle that you can be there in January! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Hi all!!!

Dana-- Glad to hear you are felling better!:thumbsup2

Dave-- Rio?!? I'm jealous! (BTW-- If you get the Travel Channel, tonight they are debuting the new Samantha Brown series "Passport to Latin America," with an episode about Rio at 8pm...)

Krista-- While I will not take your dog, I sympathize. Captain will do that constantly when we have houseguests. Just about every 45 minutes-- hop down, go to the guest room, check on the visitors, back into bed. So annoying, I agree.

Marathonmommy-- Congrats on what you've done so far!! Telling people can be the hardest part, though... I understnad.

Kim-- (Totally OT question for you... but I will assume from your posts you live in the GTA.... but do you get Jeopardy north of the border?? :rotfl: I kind of assume so since Alex Trebek is Canadian but don't ever remember seeing it on any of my trips up there. One of my professors from last semester will be a contestant and the episode will air while I'm on vacation and want to make sure I catch it.)

Anti-Dole Whippers-- I totally agree! Why would you want one of those things when the Sunshine Tree Terrace Citrus Swirl is a few paces away?!??!

Judy-- First, there was Zebra Butt, which I have fully embraced. Really, fine with it! But "pulling a Kevin"?!? Sheesh... the things I will never live down....

My own training update:
Tuesday-- 3.00 miles in 26:04, or 8:42/mile.
Wednesday-- 5.00 miles in 47:05, or 9:25/mile.
I'm happy with both of these, really.... the wheels did kind of come off in the middle miles of today's run, though. I'll have to run tomorrow first thing in the morning, since the highs are supposed to get up into the 90s.

Have to dash... Houseguests are arriving tonight for the Film Festival this weekend.

Happy training!
Kevin :earsboy:

Hey Kevin, yes we get Jeopardy here. It is on at 7 or 7:30....can't remember. Will you see it while on vacation or did you want me to tape it for you??

Training program called for 3K today....done....sucking wind big time....yikes.....

Anti-Dole Whippers-- I totally agree! Why would you want one of those things when the Sunshine Tree Terrace Citrus Swirl is a few paces away?!??!

Have you tried a Citrus Swirl lately? It's just not right, they messed with my fav treat!

Hi everyone! I wanted to drop in and say hello, and see how everyone's training is going. No running for this week. I will start running on sunday, so that will be my next workout. I have played several hockey games this week, so at least I was still getting some exercise.

I did make my reservations for Pop Century for marathon weekend. We will be arriving very late on thursday night and leaving on monday afternoon. I can't wait!!!!

Wow, I miss a few days and YARC has grown tremendously! It is hard to keep up with who is in and who isn't!!

Time to go watch some hockey. Hopefully, the Ducks can win it tonight!! Looks good so far.
