Wk of June 3--WISH Walking/Running Club

Jackie- Nice job on your 4 miler. :thumbsup2 Good for you for getting out in the heat and humidity. So would your DD16 babysit up here in Rochester so the princesses princess: princess: don't miss school. That's what I need to find. Someone to watch the girls up here.

Dave - DD16 says she'll watch the kids during the marathons (as long as they don't mind being part of the scream team during the half so she can cheer me on!) We probably will be there Friday afternoon just thru the end of the full on Sunday, but she's willing to help watch WISH kids. Have fun in Rio!

Krista - The Dole Whip is on the list of "things I gotta have the first day! (followed closely by a :mickeybar " Did you figure out what was wrong with Hines? Something had to be bothering him for that drastic of a behavior change!

Carrie - You win the "Weird Weather" award!

Megan - I can probably top your odd dog. DH had been home for an hour, when Mystic looked out the window and saw his car parked in the driveway (it's usually under the carport) and started barking furiously at it. He's had the car since Jan 1st, and she still barks at it every time he comes home.

NEBill - I struggled with the wet new running shoes just a couple of weeks ago. Mine were new in March and had never been wet when I went on my first run with my running group in a downpour and we ended up running through HUGE puddles. They were soaked by the end, but they recovered quicker than I did!

Judy - Great pictures! I miss our morning TM runs - I know running outside is better training, but you're not there to keep me company!

Christa - I wondered about having two Queens, but I guess as long as we remember to always refer to you as Evil Queen we won't be confused!

15 hours till departure... we should actually arrive in the World early Thursday morning (spending the night somewhere around Daytona - think I may try to get a run in there tomorrow night!). Have a great week everyone!

Jackie

Jackie

Have a great trip Jackie and safe travels.

I hate to say this...but I really didn't think the Dole whips were that good. I think I was just really expecting more after all the reviews on the DIS.

Judy - Thanks for bringing me up to speed. So sorry to hear about Logic. Don't know how I missed it. I don't think I was away from the boards that long! :confused3

Can I be a YARC member oh great and mischievious Queen? Pretty please? My friends, family and even my doc tell me I "just ain't right".

Jen - Hope everything works out for you!

I got somewhat good news at the doc's today. There is no broken bone in my foot/ankle  . However, now I have to get an MRI to make sure nothing is torn/ruptured. Doc wants to be sure, since it's still swollen and tender in spots. I can't wait until I can actually DO something again. I've been doing some ab work and upper body work, but it just doesn't feel like enough.

Does anyone here use a heart rate monitor? I've never used one and have some questions:
1. How long should you stay at your target heartrate when working out?
2. What happens if you go above the target HR? Is that safe?
3. Any suggestions on what type to get, that won't break the bank (of this FREE sport)?

Terri

Guys, two stonkers in a row!!! Tonight was supposed to be 4.5 mi, but I got home late, it was threatening rain, thunder and lightning, plus I was supposed to go see POTC. I just wasn't that into it, so I was going to cut it down to 3 miles. I was just over 1 mile in, I was close to home, the clouds looked yucky and my heart wasn't in it so I went home. I may try again tomorrow night, but we'll see.

On the plus side, I actually really liked the POTC movie..!!

OK, its late, gotta get to bed...

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

I'm waking up for my mid week LR. I'm going to do the same route I did last week - somewhere between 7-8 miles. OK, I got swept up in things a little bit yesterday, and I went ahead and made a room reservation for Pop Century for marathon weekend. Colleen, got me thinking, and I figured I better get a room before they fill up. I also e-mailed the Cool Aunt to see if she could come out and watch the princesses princess: princess: if DW and I went down for an adult weekend.

Jackie- It's great your DD16 has offered to babysit WISH kids at WDW. You know I was just kidding about her coming out here. Have a great trip! Travel Safely!

Jen- Good luck with the meeting for DD's new school, and good luck with your aunt. Uugh, that sounds like a nasty situation.

Good gravy, it's only 41 degrees out there. I don't want to dig my tights out again.

Judy & Jen - lots of hugs for the tough times you are both going through.

Krista - another 'first try' warning from here! ;) And seeing as how I should have never been able to get pregnant at all, nevermind carry a baby to term...

Dave - I am so jealous of Rio! Have a fabulous time! My Dad has to been to Brazil many times for work - mostly Sao Paulo. But I am 99% sure he did get to Rio on one of the trips. I remember a "bathing suit" (using that term really loosely) that he brought home for Mom from there! :lmao:

Ok, so if all the YARC members are getting titles, then I want one too!
I was thinking I could be something to do with entertainment, but I can't think of some medieval-type title for that. Court jester? Although that isn't very complementary.

Hmmm....must work on this while I am soooo busy at work today....

Jen Hope things work out for you and your family

Jackie Have a great time at WDW.....safe trip

Terri COngrats on the good news

Dave Enjoy your LR congrats on booking, we are at POP also. I hope the cool aunt can help you out.

OK, latest stupid question......What is a stonker????

Time to get ready for work have a great day everyone

Kim

Kim--a stonker is a bad run/walk--I think the term came from our down under friend Helen (correct me guys if that's not correct)

Dave--WooHoo on making the ressie and contacting cool aunt:cool1: I hope cool aunt is as recpetive to the idea as my SIL was to watching the kids for ToT . She jumped at the opportunity! Good luck with the mid-week LR

Terri--great to hear that your ankle isn't broken.:thumbsup2 HOpefully the MRI won't show anything either!

I'm gonna get 3 miles in either this morning or afternoon. I'm taking my kiddos to the free family movie today at 10, so we'll see if I can get it all done before then. Have a great Hump Day all!

Just a real quick Hi to everyone b/4 work!:wave2:
Will report lataer....WTG Dave on the mid week LR...remind me why are you doing a LR in the middle of the week?:confused3

Lots of :wizard: to everyone else and their training today...need to figure out what I am going to do....

OK, But for now I must go save the world, 1 child at a time. Yes that is my real job.......

Last night I did my balance ball workout. Yah Me.

Dave - DH decided he might want to stay at POP for the Marathon also. What a coincidence. We are going in August and staying there and if we really like it then we may be staying there again in January!!

Just an FYI about POP, the soda machine has a slushie also. I guess it's the only resort that has that. My girls are beyond excited because they are slushie nuts!!!

Pat - Ohhhhh I like that medal!!!!! I need to get my butt into training!!!

I wish I had a cool Aunt to watch my kids!!!! Guess I will just rely on cool DH since he can't run with his knee situation!!!

Just popping in to WISH Jackie a fabulous trip!!!! Okay, glad to find someone else wasn't that impressed with Dole Whips; the popcorn they sell on Main Street and the Minnie frozen strawberry bars are more to my liking! :)

Dave -- I hope it works out with really cool aunt!

Leana -- sorry for your stonker. We also loved POTC3! How creative and imaginative!

Terri -- good luck with the MRI. Oh, and you definitely belong in the YARC after going as far as you did during the marathon with such serious blisters/injury.

Pat -- THank you so much for the visual motivation!

Yesterday was 30 minutes XT, according to MfM. I did a 32 minute Leslie Sansone Walk/Kick which combines intervals of her walking program and kickboxing moves. After my heart surgery, when I was first trying to get into a fitness routine, I started with her Walk Away the Pounds 1 mile sessions and really enjoyed them, then worked myself up to the longer sessions. It felt good to get back to something that I remembered as being enjoyable, but now at a bit more challenging level. I highly recommend this if anyone is looking for something along those lines. Oh, and of course, 100 crunches & 100 push-ups (which were a bit harder after WATP W/K ;) )

To fit in tomorrow's training session, I'll have to get to the Y by about 6:30 a.m. It's been a long time since I was that disciplined.

Have a great day everyone!

I've registered for the full and now need to get a hotel. Does Disney not offer special discounts for those that are doing the marathons? I read that AAA rates aren't out yet and I do have an AP so hopefully something will come out for that later. Also am a DVC member but need to look at what points I have left. All hotels do provide transportation to the race, but what about spectators getting around. I really don't want to rent a car.

As for training did 10 mile walk Sunday and 5 miles yesterday. I seem to be having a problem with birds lately. While walking at OKW on vacation I kept getting attacked by birds, I guess they had young ones around and when I walked by they weren't happy. Last night, I got pooped on which wasn't pleasant. Thank heavens it was near the end of my walk as I had this lovely white glob running down the front of my pants.

Nancy

Cam--- I love Leslie Walk away the pounds videos. I like to get them out every so often for XT. She has been on the QVC lately with her new one which is a 5 mile workout. DS#1 works in the broadcasting department for the QVC and told him to get me tickets sometime when she is going to be there.

Nancy

MOrning all!

Jen - Prayers, :wizard: and :grouphug: Legal proceedings adn family are not a good combination!

Leana - So sorry about teh stonker!!!! Try to remeber that htey make the good runs feel even better! (I'll try too)

Dave - Yay for teh ressies!

Terri - Prayers adn :wizard: fro you! We want you back!!!

Christa - I don't thin I'd like the stress aor emotional involvement that goes with it, but it must feel gret to have a job that helps people!

Coleen - Never tried a dole whip myself. Just don't think they're for me. Thanks fro your honest opinion. Hanging out on DIsney boards really makes you feel left out for not loving them! ;)

Jackie - Weirder. It was 42 this am. Still supposed to be 90 tomorrow.

Pat - After being in CHicago this weekend, even though we're not city folk, Scott and I are gettign really excited for CDC!

Kim - I think that's 39 degrees F. Yup, very cold! Not much better here for now, though.

MIA WISHers - I did hear frm Helen a while back and she had moved to Australia. Also, sher injuries were healing. Hopefully, things are settling down for her and she'll be back soon. I'll send her and e-mail. Sunny too! As of a week or two ago, SUnny was still in teh throws of pain and the cirsis she had mentioned. I'll let her know we're thinking of her too, though.

Well, I did 40 minutes last night. FIrst time with my new lift. OMG, my left leg is really not happy to be finally taking on its share of the load. Scott erminded me that I should just fly when I actually have 2 strong legs, though. ;) I think teh booty/nerve pain is gone. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will continue to hold off as I get beack to reall trainign again, as opposed to a runs every week or so. I was slow and my legs have a ways to go with teh lift adn orthodics, but I'm hopeful at least. They're very tired this am to. Hopefully, getting used to the shifrt in weight will go quickly!

Even better, I actually packed my stuff fo rcurves tonight. Still debating if I should just do my ball instead, adn teh PT gave me more stuff for that today too. Finally, this was my last PT session. Kind of scary that htey think I'm done, but I guess we'll see.

I did a 32 minute Leslie Sansone Walk/Kick which combines intervals of her walking program and kickboxing moves.
Cam - I have the Walk/Jog DVD and really like it. I was thinking abut the kick one back when...maybe I should get that too for a change of pace.

Hello Again Team:

OK, I got my run in this morning - 8.03 miles in 1:18.38 min/9:47 mpm pace. I have to say I wasn't "feelin' it" this morning. I felt like I was plodding along (I was), hitting every red light, stopping at every intersection, and just getting the miles in. Oh well, I got it done. Maybe my legs were tired from the speedwork I did on Monday.

Christa- I'm trying to do a mid week semi-LR to build up my weekly mileage. I want to try to get up to around 30 miles/week as a base before I start my official marathon training. I'm kind of using a modified Hal Higdon training plan where he has a midweek LR. I would like to build the Wednesday morning run to a max of 10 miles. I am trying to build the 30 miles/week up slowly so I don't hurt myself though. I did 26 miles last week. I need to keep up with you my dear for that 4 hour WDW marathon.

OK, I should do some work now.

Nancy - Yay for signing up! For spectators, they can get a bus to the start at Epcot. They can watch start adn 4 mile there adn monorial to TnT and stay there or head to MK. Then, they can monorial to Poly and head towards FLoridian Way. WIthout a car, they have a bit of a break after that. My scream team really enjoyed a breakfast at GF during tha ttime. They felt guilty, but I'm glad they did something fun. They do get up awfully early for it. Anyway, form there, it's back to Epcot for the finish. They can try to get to AK, but I'd worry about traffic getting there. HTH!

Good morning everyone! I'm happy to say my puppy seems to be doing much better. He has 2 areas on either side of his tail that he keeps licking at, but he won't let me check either area out. I've tried to feel around for a bump, thinking maybe he was stung or bitten by a bug, but I can't feel anything. If he keeps messing with them, I'm going to take him to the vet this weekend. Thankfully Hines slept last night on the bed, so I feel much more rested!!! Didn't work out last night, I was kind of worried about Hines, so I came straight home from work and then got so engrossed in my book, it was 10:00 before I knew it! My bag is still in the car from yesterday, so I'm definitely stopping at the gym today.

Marathon Pop People--That's where we will most likely be. We like to stay Value for the weekend and then DVC for the week. Pop is by far my favorite value resort. Oh, and don't hold your breath about an AP rate, they most likely won't come out. Last year Stephen kept calling for an AP rate and got to talking to a CM, the CM told him that it's very rare to have AP rates that weekend since the resorts sell out for the marathon. We can still hope!!! :wizard:

Jen--My goodness!!! Be careful! I will definitely keep you and your family in my prayers. :wizard: for your DH!!!!

Cam--My Mom does the Leslie Sansone DVD's and loves them. Oh, and Main Street popcorn, that's my company that makes all the popcorn poppers, cotton candy machines, funnel cake fryers, ice shavers, etc. In fact, I can hear the popcorn popping right now as they make a batch every day. My work always smells like popcorn and cotton candy. :goodvibes

Christa--How can you be the Evil Queen and yet be a hero to so many children and families? Are you like Jekyll and Hyde? ;)

Leana--Sorry for the stonker!! Hopefully your next run will be better!

Dave--How did your run go? Crossing fingers that the Cool Aunt can help you out!

Colleen--I prefer the Dole Whips to the Dole Floats. I LOVE pineapple (I make myself sick eating it because I eat so much), but the pineapple ice cream and pineapple juice is just too sweet for me. Is your DH still hobbling?

Terri--:woohoo: that your ankle isn't broken!! :wizard: that it isn't sprained!

I guess I should go earn my keep! I will be back later.

Krista - I saw your races on deck and noticed you didn't list CDC. Are you not doing that one now?? And By the Way... I used to work at WI State Fair and they popped corn every day for us, even in the off season.... I ATE it every day. I love the stuff!!!
