Craig: I was just thinking about you! How's the rehab going--are you taking things easy and smart? You give such good advice about recovery that I just now you also take....

Yep, you read it right--DOOD and I are going to be at water stops #2/#9 for the 1/2. Along with lots of other WIShers.

(So for those of you who suspect he's a figment of my fertile imagination...). Don't you worry about seeing us--I'm just honored to be cheering you on.
As for my shoulder-injury inspired gait, I was thinking more along the lines of Lugosi in
Son of Frankeistein. Just call my Igor. I've NOT seen the Abridged Shakespeare Company in performance, only DVD; I imagine it's even funnier live. I, too, laugh at the tragedies. Yeah, there's a reason they call
Troilus and Cressida a problem play--if I have to sit through a 3 hour staged reading of it, there's a problem!
Kristi: Great job on the 3 miles, and your determination to shave off seconds. I've yet to find a track close to me, but think training occasionally on one would be useful. What do you like about it? Ugh, I know what you mean by clothes-shopping trauma--every time for me.
Racey Tracy: Beautiful rainbow. I just love stories about Garmi. I feel like I know (him? her? it?).

I don't think I'd like to train after dinner, either. That's my TV- and movie-watching time! Missed the Randy Pausch special, though. (He's been in the news a lot here in Pgh, so I don't feel like I was deprived.)
Lily: Congrats on the retirement/quitting/can't take it anymore change in job status. You sound almost giddy about it. Does this mean more time in Disney? (Fingers crossed.)
Howard: If you're not a natural athlete, I'll be danged! But if you say so. Then I'm going to choose to believe you found running at the right point in your life--and you two make a very happy couple, indeed. (Almost as good as you and Cam.)
Jennifer: I probably knew that about your night races, didn't I? Forgive me, I have a really lousy memory. (Age, don'cha know.) Woo hoo for your 3.5 milers in 30 minutes. So speedy!

And to double-up on your run, first one in the humidity and the second on the dreadmill...you're very motivated.
Terri: So how are you feeling about your tri training, other than the time? (I remain impressed by the time, myself.) You're coming up on the most intense parts of your training, I would imagine. How long is a tri taper?
Carrie: Yay that we'll be working together at the 1/2! That waterstop is going to be a blast.

Even if I hope we're too busy serving the participants to talk for most of it. (All 1/2 marathoners--stop by and say hi, quickly!) What are you proposing to get Craig to notice us? I, for one, am not going to wear a grass skirt and do the hula. And no nakedness, not even if Jeanne says it's appropriate!
Stacie: I think several of the suggestions are appropriate if you want to bump up your mileage, and if you follow the general pattern of increased mileage followed by an easy week I think you'll be okay. I'm trying to plan in enough easy weeks into my extended plan to avoid the overtraining that
Carrie so wisely noted. Me, I added extra weeks rather than cutting out short runs in the beginning, but that's because of my knees. I'm in training now and I do admit that I worry that I'll burn out on training (not overtrain, but the mental aspect) with such a long plan.
Angie: Now, repeat after me.
I am not an overachiever any more. I am an achiever. I am progressing toward my marathon goals slowly and steadily. I will not push myself too hard. I will remember to 'just run for the run,' as someone wise one said.
I just know you can do it!
Cecilia: You're back! Yay!

And in training. How did your tri go with your BIL--you did that already, right? And your DH competed too? (Or am I off base about things.)
David: It sounds like you've got a lot of running experience (not to mention determination to go on to the Kiawah loop a second and delay the beer gratification). It's great to have you hear so that we can pick your brain for advice!
Kevin: It sounds as if life has been busy and entertaining! Mercedes Benz Swimwear Fashion Week? Depends on the buffness of the models, mrowsa!

Great beach run. You make it sound like a good time, even with the heat and humidity. And thank you for the thoughts on being a Tigger runner. It's something many of us need to hear, I think. Especially me, who thinks Eeyore is a bit too cheery most days.

And the warning about the hotels for marathon weekend. I definitely needed to hear that.

(What was booked, btw?)
Liz: Yay for taking taper seriously. No 2 hour biking! I'll keep my fingers crossed for a cool weekend for your 1/2.
Jen in GA: Ooooh, the birthday is getting close!

Me, I like Miles. I figure you can keep him guessing as to the genesis of his name. Just about the time he thinks the running connection is geeky, shift up on him. Introduce him to
Kind of Blue and tell him he was named after one of the coolest jazz musicians of all time, Miles Davis. And then when he's a real stinker, tell him he was really names after Miles Standish. He'll probably roll his eyes at you for changing the story of his naming, but hey! At one point or another all kids roll their eyes, right?
Today's Shout-Outs:
Frank: I hope your biking has been progressing at a Tour De France level of satisfaction!
As for me: Managed to do my 5 miles today--before the rain hit and humidity subsided. I'm feeling the itch to go out and buy running gear after reading the latest issue of Runner's World. I've never been a skirt girl--go figure--and now I'm feeling like I've been left out of the loop. And YouBars? Anyone try those? I've tried making my own protein bars and they just don't turn out well. (No comments from the peanut gallery on my cooking skills or lack thereof! Just know there's a reason I eat so much ice cream.)
