Wk of Jul 9--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

I did my 6 miles on the TM. I didn't beat the heat this morning. It was really, really hard and I could feel the right foramen compression after about 3 miles, but kept going anyway. I expected to do it 1:06 and ended up with 1:08:10 so that's pretty good. I can't get over how hard it is to do 6 miles when 6 miles used to be a "quickie"!!!!

Kristi-- I noticed my posture got better, too. I think its a combo of weight training and running. It sure feels good!

To all you outdoor runners today-- stay cool! It sure is hot!!!!

Well I got in my 14 miles this morning and boy was it humid. You can only sweat so much before the humidity stops the cooling effest and then you are just wet. Covered the 14 miles in 1:57. I took in a Gel pack at 5 miles and was drinking gatorade every 2 miles and I never had the blood sugar drop. So it looks like I will be using the running belt on all my long runs - even though the thing drives me crazy. I wanted to push for 1 mile at the end so with 2 miles to go I covered a mile in just under 7 minutes and then walked for 2 mins before finishing up. Boy am I happy with this effort. Thanks everyone for the support and good luck training. And I didn't kill the thread either.
WTG on your LR! :thumbsup2 :cool1:  :cheer2: That is an AWESOME pace!! Your LR sounds alot like mine! I have a running belt too! It rubbed my back really bad yesterday so I was SCREAMING in the cold bath afterwards! :scared1: I also did a gel around mile 6. :goodvibes

Sunny - I am so glad you are able to run again. Before you know it...6 miles will be a quickie again! :thumbsup2

Everyone is doing SO GREAT! I still need to post my great thoughts that I had while running  ...I have to entertain myself b/c I don't listen to my IPOD! I felt like all you were with me yesterday..no really. I even thought about your encouragement during the hard times (IBS included :rotfl2: )...you kept me going!

I have now eaten 4 micky waffles (made with apple sauce instead of oil). I have been SO HUNGRY b/c of my LR! This is why running makes me gain weight! :confused3
Took the DDs swimming so that is my Xtraining. :teeth: It is around 100 now in Charlotte!

Hi, everyone! Did 6.18 today with warm up and cool down with overall pace 14:54

The miles splits were all over the place:
mile 1 (including warmup): 15:08
mile 2: 14:15
mile 3: 14:59
mile 4: 14:12
mile 5 14:58
mile 6 14:32

From the start of mile 4 I did r1/w4. THat was tough and my walking pace slowed a lot from the exhaustion of running, but overall it was great.

Oh, it was 78 degrees and so outrageously humid when we headed out just before 7 am. I was dripping sweat, even off my arms but it was pretty satisfying.

Next LW is our 5K next Saturday. It will be a busy week with Howard going away to Vegas with my best friend (yes, my best friend in the world is a guy) and work will be crazy. I am hoping I will have some time to train during the week.

Happy Anniversary to Jackie and Christa! Congrats on the awesome training all! :thumbsup2
