Y'all, it's HOT outside. :smooth: I was scheduled to do a quick shoulder workout and then run four miles. The shoulder workout was great, but when I hit the roads at 2:15 this afternoon... not so great. My 4 miler instantly became 3 before I even set out and I ended up running 2.75 miles at about 9:55/mile pace. I did most of the run on the cross country trails here, so that's not the worst time in the world, but it was sheer struggle with the humidity.

Ummm, Kevin? Thought you were gonna' try to help me out with that motivation thing? Can you please not post bad weather info until after 5? ;)

Judy - I forgot the MIL sympathy. Would it help to know that I was recentley told, "Well, sandals may look cool, but they are not the best for construction." Um, yes, I am older than 12. And, if I had known I'd be doing construction, I might have packed something other than withe shorts too. Not her worst offense, just one that sticks. Out. Oh, and I was reprimanded fr opacking too much this weeknd too. We were camping! Hot clothes, cold clothes, bedding, towels. ALl kind of neccissites. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for your trip, which will not be a vacation. ;)

Thank you all for your kind words and understanding. And you're funny stories! It helps to know I'm not the only one. :goodvibes

I am going to try posting the link again so you can see where we are staying....

BTW it's like the world is coming to an end here! :scared1: We are having the WORST storms! We are under a tornado watch until 8pm! WTH A tornado in New York!?!?!

Looks great Judy! Can you just float your MIL off into the ocean on day 1? :teeth:

Sunny - I just looked at your Cafepress site and I was :rotfl2: at the "cranky mom" stuff. My children and husband tell me that all the time. I have got to get something...no DH has got to... :rotfl:

Swam today. Did a mile in around 45 min. Forgot to start and stop watch so that is why I say around.
Now I did not say I was old or that anyone has to say they are 25 (when in fact they are 34)...that is just my way of repressing the truth about me getting older. :teeth: And I am in better shape than I was at 25 (but I was preg..) Heck, I am in better shape than when I was any other age!

Thanks! I actually bought myself the magnet that says If Mom's not running ain't nobody happy Let me tell you, after these past few months my family can totally atest to that! :lmao:

I've had a swimming question for a while... how do you keep track of your laps? After 20 or so I totally lose track. I end up going by my time and my estimated avg. lap time to tell my distance. Is there a trick?

Sunny

Thanks for all the well wishes for the car. I'm very grateful and thankful, it could have been much, much worse. I have some news on my car, not the best, I'm afraid. Saturn called Stephen and said that nothing was showing up on the diagnosis (sp??) test and they would have to take the motor out--$450 just to take the motor out. They won't know anything until tomorrow, but they said best case scenario is the timing belt and worst case, the motor is blown ($6500 :faint: :faint: ). Of course the car is not under warranty anymore, Saturn's warranty is 3 years/ 36,000 miles and I just hit 50,000 last week. But tell me how a car that is only 3 years old, has 50,000 miles on it, is not driven hard and taken care of with oil changes every 4,000 miles and regular maintenance can possibly blow the timing belt or a motor?????? I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Judy--You win! Your MIL is the worst! :maleficen Oh, and wanna hear something funny, the police officer that helped me today was the same one that pulled me over for speeding in February!!! :rotfl2:

Kevin--College freshmen? UGH!!!!

Sunny--How great that you are feeling so much better! I have to say that it kind of upsets me that you have been hurt for a few months, you are coming back from a very serious injury and you can STILL run faster than I ever have!!! :goodvibes

Sunny - I am so glad I get off 93 right before the tunnel! On the other hand, I do leave Government Ctr. via a little bit of a tunnel. The on ramp I use - I go down and in a tunnel, and then immediately up & out. Then half of the way home I was thinking about how that panel that fell on that poor woman & her husband was near the entrance to their tunnel. :sad2: I guess I just have to keep telling myself, if it's my time - it's my time, right?

Also, you are doing the Applefest? My friend Stacey is and I am pretty sure Chad is signing up also. Oh, and we found out today our new primary doctor is running also. I will be there as photographer though! Too close to the DL half for a newbie like me.

Judy - I do think you MIL takes the cake! Although my ex-MIL told me once that my ex abused me & cheated on me (rough translation) since I was such a nag. I'm with Carrie - float her off to sea! :teeth:

Krista
- so glad you are ok! How scary is that? And dumb drivers can be such buttheads sometimes. As if anyone *wants* to be stuck smack dab in the middle of the highway, right?

Christa - I am still saying I'm 25! :teeth:

I know I missed some people, but I hope to catch up better tomorrow!

I really tried talking myself out of wogging today - but I just came back from putting in 3 miles. Amazing how weighing in at weight watchers on Wednesday night can get you moving, huh?
13:35
13:38
13:02
40:17 not terrible, but slower than I've been lately - no coyotes here though!

I was thinking while I was wogging (scary, huh?). I really need to learn how to post pictures. I want to show you what a great job Evelyn did on Zack's crocodile cake!

Sunny - I swim in a 25 meter pool so I go down, back, down, back and then push the lap (or split) button on my timex. That way, I know my splits for 100 mtrs. and I do about 16 laps plus a little extra for a mile.

Christa - You and I do a mile in about the same amount of time!! I'm still debating the 1/2 ironman. I havent been on any real training schedule, so I don't know if I can or want to do it, but my husband qualified for nationals for adventure racing w/ a team that i wasn't on, so they are racing together this year (to practice) mostly w/o me. I'm thinking trying the 1/2 IM will at least make me feel a little better about being out of the race schedule for some of the yr! It also seems like a good time to bite the bullett and try to get pregnant (b/c I'm kindof off the docket until after november anyway!)

Krista - I'm so thankful that you are OK. What a horrible exerience!

I was supposed to lift today, but I went kayaking w/ my friend who got a babysitter (g'ma) for her first post partum workout. I towed the boy in his boat, so I'm counting that as upper body!!

Hi! as I tiptoe in and quietly sit watching all the young whipper snappers thinking THEY are old!
You are all so cute!:lmao: :lmao:
(coming from little ole 56 y/o me...I know there is someone else who may be older, but no fear, I don't feel it all the time there is still hope for all.)

Happy Un-Birthday to all!

Sorry I have abandoned everyone for so long. (I have read this week's thread and will not even try to catch up with everyone--except, to say--wristbands! WISH wristbands! Sunny's cafepress site, Oh you are all killing me with WANT.)

I've really taken off way too much time and just can't seem to get up and go. I can't put my finger on the problem just yet. I figure if I still can crawl, I may just do that to the finish lines in January. Still trying to make it there somehow.

:wave2:

Oh, Lily!!! I'm sooooo glad you responded!! I, too have been sitting here laughing at all of the young'uns!!! ;)
Judy, the villa is gorgeous!! One thing stood out...WINERIES!! Lots and lots of wine for either you or MIL :stir: ....I really am sorry about her. I couldn't make it without my MIL. She is absolutely the best.
MelR, definitely count towing as upper body!!
Kristi, yes, when your time is up, it's up. In our small town, we had a 22 yo laying in his bed watching TV get killed by a drunk driver whose car crashed through the roof of his parents' home! His little brother was beside him and not touched. :sad1: Glad you got out of your domestic situation!!
Krista, oh, my goodness! What an experience!
Cam By the time you read this, Howard will have seen DS in person and can verify that everything truly is ok. You both are such great parents! DS will be so surprised with the pizza, but I'm thinking he will be just as glad to see his Dad.
Christa Thanks for changing your siggie picture back!! That should be incentive! Loved the EQ picture!!
Kevin Yay!! You got out there, though. Good for you!
Sonya, yes, PLEASE make sure you stretch...talk to Cam about that and hip pain!
Sonny Hooray for you! You are doing so well at taking it slowly, as we all know how anxious you are to get back. Although, really, 30:10 with a warm up walk isn't slow for some of us! May the pelican fly away soon!

Hi Everyone,

Wow – Crazy weather today…..We had a tornado watch at work very close to the end of the day.

Sunny – What nice pictures from the camping trip. Cool Medals for you and your daughter.

Andrea – great pictures from Sea World

Carrie – What a great story about the women from the other Disney board

Jodi - Thanks for the link. I'm going to check it out.
You’re welcome Judy!

Kevin – Your carb-loading plan sounds great. I am thinking DH and I may head off site Saturday night to an Olive Garden. At least I am familiar with the food and don’t have to worry about it upsetting my stomach. I also noticed Wolfgang Puck’s has some pasta options and Rhonda and I LOVED it there Minnie weekend. Hmmmm. . . Rasta Pasta, huh?
Okay, I missed this --- was that from last week or earlier this week?

Oh Helen, I’m sorry about your cat

Happy Belated Birthday Mel!

I did 4.5 on the TM today 4.0 in 42:29. Slow but steady I'm on my way back...
Wow Sunny – both you and Kevin are speed demons (I’m so jealous).

Dana--I have fairly long hair, it comes down to my shoulder blades and I just put it up in a bun when I run and it doesn't get tangled at all. I can't stand it hanging in my face and even a pony tail makes me hot.
Funny, you should talk about this…..I was thinking about cutting my hair short (this past Saturday) – Thank god I didn’t.

Geez.....you're all a bunch of 20-somethings....I really am the Old Lady around here.
Judy – I feel the same way! Although, to some on the board they could be saying the same thing about me being a 30-something.

Jodi-Get off that butt & get back to training girl! (There was no kicking butt icon so picture him kicking your butt while he's dancing ) You've got a race & a half to train for. O.k. lecture over, I would also suggest not sitting down when you get home. I'm the same way, if I hit that sofa I never recover. Good luck! You can do it
Thank you!

Christa – Do you have more photos to share from the Disney run? I would love to see more. By the way, I love the photo with the Evil Queen and Jafar.

Oh no – Krista, sorry to hear about the car…..I’ve had that happen before but never with a newer car….I had it happen with a hand me down, very scary! The worst is when you put on the emergency lights and you are sitting there but the line of traffic behind you feels the need to sit behind you and lay on their horns, or does that just happen in CT?

Jodi - Work always gets in the way, doesn't it? We have to figure out a way to eliminate that.
I really wish I could….yes, it always gets in the way.

Jodi - Have yu read my trip report? The link's in my sig. That has pics. COme to MI and I'll share my 112-page photo album with you! ;)

Sunny - I just got dh and I some of the best stuff.

20 miles is a long way to run. 26.2 is a life-changing experience.

Boy is that fitting! DH loved getting surprises too!

Duh...Forgot my workout.

In spite of Kevin's very non-motivating report on weather conditions, although he still got out there and kicked butt, dh and I went out tonight. Way to hot for me, but we were supposed to do 3 aand we did. I'm not sharing splits, though. Yikes! DId I mention it was hot an humid? ;)

So Kevin, do we speak in too many syllables to be "real" atheletes? :rotfl2:

Lily -Good to see you!! But, who do we send when teh Dog Catcher's not motivated?????? This is a crisis! I gues that's wher teh Evil Queen comes in. get her CHrista! :teeth:

Look on tricharlotte.com, then go all the way down to WDW 04. That is my 1st WDW. Great fun...slow times! Tons of pics......I have a few from the Goofy but they haven't been posted yet.

Melissa - If I ever sign up for WDW this year, we need to run together. :goodvibes

Krista - :sad2: Sorry about the car!

Sunny - I do 10 laps then start counting over....sometimes I bring DDs with me and they count. But then I have to let them do some of the laps with me. Some of my real swimmer friends bring pennies or something else and just move them over after each lap.

Jodi -- The quote about restaurants might have been from last week. Then again, with my ramblings, who knows? I am probably responsible for 1/2 the posts this week.

Can you tell I miss all my WISH buddies? I can't wait to get a fix at DL -- that should hold me over until January.

Anne -- You are such a sweetie! Thank you for thinking we are good parents. :lovestruc And your timing is perfect, Howard should be at the dorm right now, pizzas in hand. He said he'd give DS his cell phone to call me. I can't wait! :Pinkbounc

I was soo tempted to hit the TM tonight, but it is supposed to be a rest day, so I contented myself with 30 minutes on the stationary bike.

Christa -- We must have been posting at the same time. LOVE seeing that picture again. Very motivating!

I have been off the boards for weeks/months, however I am back. I apologise for being unsociable. Happy unbirthdays to everyone.

I will not try to catch up on this thread, but I will start fresh with the new thread coming up. I posted this post below on the Disneyland bound thread, but will also post here.....
Ahhhhh, the less than 10 weeks scares me.

My gallstone attacks were increasing in frequency, duration and pain intensity. I had no appetite, no energy and was losing weight too fast (never thought I'd say that). Finally the surgeon decided I should be on the waitlist (8-9 months) and so my gallbladder was removed on July 4th!

This week I am up and about, the staples have been removed, the incisions are healing and I am eating again, but certainly not running. Next week I am allowed to start long walks again. I am resigned to walking as opposed to running, and I have changed my goal, which was to improve on my 1/2 time from 3:19 to 3:00. My goal is now to start, and if I get to the start line, then my goal will be to finish!

Is anyone else walking right at the 16 min/mile cut off?

We booked our flights today. We arrive on Thursday 14th, for one night at the Candy Cane Inn. Fri/Sat/Sun we will be at Disneyland Hotel. We = DH and myself from Canada.

Hope to finally meet up and put faces to names!

Susie - Sorry about your kitty. The Rainbow Bridge will take good care of him/her.

Cam - Glad DS is okay. Hope you've talked to him by now and wished him happy birthday. DD was at her grandmother's yesterday morning (2 hrs away) - called to tell me her jaw was swollen and sore (2 weeks after wisdom teeth removed) - called the oral surgeon who put her on antibiotics immediately and wanted to see her as soon as she got back in town today. Why do these things happen when we're not around?

Monte - Cleaning definitely counts!

Helen - The Rainbow Bridge is a fabulous place, but it will rip your heart out. Any news yet on your kitty?

Judy - How about letting MIL deal with the ex-wife?

Lily - Great to hear from you!

Rachael - Been there, done that. Had emergency gall bladder surgery when I was 25 - had no idea for months what was causing all that pain. Please take it easy and let your body heal. Starting the race is a great goal!

Rest day for me today - it's still 85 with a heat index of 88 at 10pm, and I refuse to consider any sort of activity. I did my morning routine with the weights and upper body, so I haven't been a complete slug!

Oh Wow - I remember your report when I first started thinking about doing the marathon.....It's one of the reasons that I ended up joining :goodvibes
