Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Last LR of the schedule for me today!! I did 6.2, just because. Nothing fancy. My last couple weeks running haven't been fabulous due to a head cold. Just hoping it clears before next Saturday.

Are you ready for some marathon? ;)

I'm so ready! I ironed a bunch of stuff and packed most of it tonight. I can't believe it is finally almost here! AAAHHHHH!

Tomorrow hoping to hop on the old treadmill for a 3 miler or so. I meant to today and just never got around to it.

So happy the weather is looking better, so excited to be back in Disney, so looking forward to running in my WISH shirt!

Allyson

Oh, Allyson, wearing that WISH shirt is one of the best parts of the experience! In addition to the extra push from WISHers who recognized my WISHness, I can't tell you how great it was to cheer on the other WISHers. I'm a back-of-the-packer, and on the out-and-back for the Minnie, it lifted me tremendously to yell across to the green shirts (I especially loved seeing my personal hero, Racy Tracy, I have to say).

Okay, there may have been a point as we crossed the overpass where I was convinced those people ahead of us must have cut across to be that far ahead, but still...:rotfl:

I can't believe you're packing already! Maybe I should do that tomorrow...

Thanks, Mel, for starting us off. :)

I'm off to bed. See you all tomorrow!

Maui, day 3...

52 miles one way, on the Hana Highway. 104 miles of winding one lane road. Whew, are we tired!

OK WISHERs!! This time next week its the FULL MARATHONers!!! GO WISH!!!

Weather Update:

Wed: High 77 Low 48 Showers 40% rain
Thurs: High 73 Low 47 Sunny 0% rain
Fri (5K): High 72 Low 49 Sunny 0% rain
Sat (Half): High 77 Low 52 Partly Cloudy 10% rain
Sun (Full): High 74 Low 50 Partly Cloudy 10% rain
Mon: High 73 Low 52 Showers 60% rain

So to me the Half and Full days are looking good. I would def take a partly cloudy day at 77 so the sun isn't hitting all the time thorughout the race!!
Showers have moved to Mon., see folks I try to work my FL weather mojo!!

Duckie: Thanks for the hero stuff, but really - I'm blushing now!! :upsidedow

I'm out for a 7 miler and then a BUNCH of errand and off to Publix "where shopping is a pleasure" for some groceries!! Need to get this stuff done today as I work Mon, Tues and Wed. I am driving up on Thursday at 7:30am to be in line at WWoS around 11am.

Later Wishers,
tapering Tracy

What an improvement on the weather, thanks Tracy! LOL!

Jeff, what beautiful pictures! Hawaii looks like paradise!

Allyson

Off to do my last LR before the 1/2. Heading out for 10 miles this morning and then bring on the taper (even if it is only 4 days!;) )

Finishing up my coffee and then I have to go outside to help my DH take down the Christmas lights - I am so bummed. He wants them down before we leave and this is the only time we can do it. He wanted to do it yesterday but I made him wait (I had to take pictures of it all first - forgot to do that before now.) got my pictures and now its going to be dark out there - I always hate that. I think I am going to hold out on my Christmas trees until after I get back - I just love looking at them and since they are fake why not keep them up a little longer.

I do plan on getting out for a short 2-3 miler but most likely won't get to it until late and then I will have to TM it. I can't believe that in just a week those of us doing the full will be 3 hours into this thing. Of course Adrian Bastos will be done with the thing almost an hour prior but that is another story!! LOL Good luck Wish team mates - have fun - enjoy the ride!!!

Jeff - Great Pics! I've driven the Road to Hana. It is lo-o-ng and a bit scary in some sections. I always hoped I didn't drive off the cliff on some of those turns. :scared1:

I got in 4 miles today. It was okay. Two more weeks til my race.

Good luck to all the Wishers headed to WDW. Have a great trip!

Terri

Hey everybody!!! I can't believe this time next week, we will be almost done with the race!! I feel like I was just there last year and here it is again..time flies!!! Today, I am trying to relax after yesterdays 8 miler and TWO hockey games, probably not a good idea when tapering for the Goofy, as I am feeling it today. But the plan is to rest all day today and probably tomorrow. Then do 3 on tuesday and 2 on wednesday before heading to WDW on Thursday!!! :cool1: :cool1: I can't wait!!!

Looks like everyone is doing a great job getting those last runs in this weekend! Can't wait to see everyone next weekend!!

mel--Hope your head cold clears up before next weekend!

Allyson--I am impressed that you ironed everything! I have some extra stuff that needs ironing..can I send it to you? :rotfl:

duckie--You are right about the extra push from people when they see the WISH gear! It was awesome last year having people chear when they saw the WISH stuff, it helped carry me to the end!!!

Jeff--Once again..AWESOME pics!! You and your family do some pretty cool stuff. I told my Fi that I want to move to Hawaii...he looked at me like I was crazy until I showed him the pics, and he said he wants to now too!!

Tracy-weather forecast looks good...although I am not getting to excited yet, as it will probably change 4 times before next weekend!!

Stephanie--A 4 day taper!!! I don't feel as bad anymore about all the hockey I played yesterday...I guess I can say a 4 day taper for myself too! Hope you had a great 10 miler.

Tricia--I hope Adrian Bastos is there again this year...he is fun to watch! I laughed to myself last year as I was going past the halfway mark in the full, and I thought about how he was DONE!!!! That is just so weird to me.

Terri--Good Luck in your upcoming race, we will miss you at WDW!

Hope everyone has a great week leading up to the races!! If I don't get back on here..see everyone next weekend!

Good luck to everyone doing WDW next weekend. Hope everyone accomplishes their goals.

I have started training to do a half on May 17. Xterratri is going to try an do it with me. I started my training yesterday with 30 min on the treddie and 32 min on stationary bike today. Am going to follow MFM walk a half for 6 week and then change to the 14 week MFM walk/run the half. Hoping I can stick with the program

The girls and I will miss seeing evevyone at the races. Lynne cannot get the time off so we went (Mom and I) to visit her and Erin. We were in Hawaii from Dec 13 to Dec 27. The last day was interesting as we had just been seated at Cheesecake Factory, for a final meal out before flying out on Saturday, when the power went out. It was out for the whole island of Ohau and driving back to the opposite side of the island (where the girls live) was interesting with no stop lights. We didn't get power back until noon the next day and had to be at the airport by 2.

The time spent with the girls was relaxing. Christmas day was spent at the beach. Erin said it is a Hawaiin tradition. I tried boogie boarding but wasn't very successful. I will try an post a couple of photos later.

Will try and keep up with the tread this year. It will help keep me accountable to exercising.

Goofy morning to you all.

Got in a 8 miler yesterday with only acouple 4 milers to go. Packing all I can today. I'm so ready to go.

Lets go wishers.

Hello everyone!

I had 5 miles on my training schedule today, but don't really feel up to it, so I'm going to skip it. Nothing's really wrong (I'm not sick or anything thank goodness), but really feeling like I should conserve my strength for next weekend - a "listen to my body" feeling. I'll put in one more short run on Tuesday, and maybe a quickie when we get down to Florida.

I am so excited about leaving on Thursday! It really takes the sting off having to back to work tomorrow. Now I need to start powering through the LOOOONG list of things that need to be done between now and then!

Have a great week, and see many of you very, very soon.

P.S. Thanks Tracy - I'm loving the new weather forecast. Keep up the good work!

** UPDATE FOR PACKING!! **

PLEASE, PLEASE, don't forget to pack some sunscreen. Remember that FL is not called the sunshine state just for fun. The UV index will be around 8-10. 10 being the highest UV exposure rate. Bring some sweatproof kind for race day, bring some lipbalm with sunscreen. Also, please bring some suncreen for every day use. DO NOT GET A SUNBURN!! (we floridians can always tell people from out of state who walk around the parks FRIED like a red tomatoes.)
Also, the sunscreen works better if you put it on in the morning before you leave the room. It needs to soak into the skin. As the day goes on then you reapply. Even on a cloudy day you are still getting UV exposure to your skin.

Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Tracy

The girls and I will miss seeing evevyone at the races.

Great to hear from you, Kathy! We missed you at RfVJ and will miss you even more this coming weekend. Christmas in Hawaii sounds alot more comfy than frigid NY......seems like you had a nice time in spite of the power glitch. Wish us luck as I go for Mickey #2 and John attempts to get #1!

Since I missed posting last week:
 Congrats Kira!!!

Mel: pixiedust: some pd for that cold of yours. I feel like I'm coming down with one too (my dad has it bad) so lets hope that the taper rest and lots of water will kick its' butt before the race.

Allyson: Wow I haven't even started packing yet. Kudos to you!

Duckie: I've gotta agree the WISH shirts (and scream teams) are the best!

I am rather bummed that I probably wont be able to make any of the meets other than pre/post races. My parents are coming (not to mention paying  ) and we are getting in super late on Thursday and heading out super early on Tuesday. I think it's our shortest trip on record, but I'll take it!

Tracy: I hope your weather report holds! And by this time next week
WE'LL BE DONE!!!!!! :yay:

Jeff: Seeing your pics from the past few days makes me want to come visit...which reminds me....

I have big news....

I'm ENGAGED!!! :bride: :groom: My boyfriend proposed New Years Eve (okay technically it was New Years Extremely Early Morning!). We've set the date for May 23, 2009. I'm just a little bit :jumping1: to say the least!

This definitely gives me something to think about during those long stretches between parks!

Happy taper madness!

:donald: :mickeyjum :goofy:

Congrats Claire! Best wishes on your engagement! Happy Wedding Planning!

I didn't think I was so crazy to pack now, I mean we leave in FOUR DAYS! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

And I realized I don't need as much as I thought. For the Bahamas portion of the trip I'll be living in a bathing suit by day and a sundress by night. Really cut down on the amount of stuff when I really thought about it.

Allyson

Claire--many congrats! Have fun planning!

Well, my ten miles is done and in the books. It wasn't pretty, but it's finished. The weather was very uncooperative today. Started out at 65 degrees with 85% humidity with a light north wind. Ended up at 50 degrees, raining with a stiff north wind. I was cold, wet, and a bit defeated by the end. But I didn't give up and finished. And what is it they say about a bad last LR, that race day will be great? Well, that's what I'm believing anyway! Safe travels to all this next week. We leave noontime on Thursday!:cool1:

Hi all!

Jeff. Those pictures are amazing.

Good lick next weekend everyone.

As for me, I will be taking a birthday run in a little bit. I have put in a request for an ice cream cake. We'll see if I get it. I ended up napping yesterday since it was too cold to take a run on the Boardwalk. Yup, another quick trip to Atlantic City. I'm trying to somehow stretch DBF's winnings into a Disney trip. I'm not sure if he is going for it though. I'm still going in March even it he doesn't want to make it into a big trip.

Have a good week everyone!
