Wk of Feb 25--WISH Walking/Running Club

Angie - Hate to tell you this, but engineers typically stick to boring white hard hats.

I have a boring white one, and now a rather icky tan colour. One of my coworkers confessed that when she was purchasing her hard hat, a purple cowboy hat style one was available, and she almost got it for herself. That would be interesting!:upsidedow

Hey Steve,

We are leaving tomorrow for Disney! We had no idea it was ESPN weekend when we booked!

As for nipple talk, yes DH uses band-aids too!

Sunny, yeah for signing up for Applefest!

Colleen

How much can I pay you to kidnap Hines Ward and bring him to me??? :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

My gosh you are a busy bunch. Just a quick update from me. I am doing well with training. I finally got to run outside on Saturday which felt great although I was really sucking wind. I tend to run too fast when I don't have the treadmill to regulate my pace. I also have to find a better course. There is a huge hill on the return part of my old standby course. That was fine when I was in shape for the half but it is torture now!

I am signing up for a 10K in Atlanta - the Peachtree Road Race - for July 4. That should be a great test to see where I am at that point although it will be HOT! they do limit entries so there is a chance I will not get in but I hope I do.

Thanks to all of you for your inspiring posts. You guys really keep me motivated. Have a great week!

Mike/Optimator--Hines Ward is going to be at WDW THIS weekend?? :faint: :faint: :faint: Do you think it would be rude to blow off Stephen's family and his nephew’s first birthday party and head south?? ;)

Krista - I saw the news about Hines Ward last night and immediately thought of you too! Wondered how quickly you could pack...

I think I may be overdoing it. The TM runs are fine, but adding the 2 mile walks every night with the dog may be a little too much. I woke up this morning and my hips are aching horribly. If they don't feel a LOT better tomorrow, I may add another rest day. I was actually hoping to run outside tomorrow evening, but I may have to pass up the 67 degree weather in favor of not injuring myself! Of course, I don't know how to break the news to Mystic...

Jackie

Thanky ou all for still wanting me to post here. You have all been so much help!!!

I have been to food and wine and MNSSHP and loved them both, that is one of the things that is pushing us to Oct instead of Jan. But we havn't decided anything for sure yet but nice to know I am still welcome!!!!
:grouphug:

Kim

Greetings Team -

As you know, I haven't been all that hyped up about my Minnie training. After a long talk with Cam last night (as she was heading to the gym and I was heading to bed!) I feel much better this morning. She really made some excellent points, and for that, I thank you Cam. :goodvibes

I have been in a real mind-trap as far as Minnie training. Thinking "it's only nine and half miles. I can do that. I just did 13!" is WRONG WRONG WRONG. What am I doing? Breaking my own #1 rule of respecting the miles. So this morning, with a renewed sense of excitement, I hit the TM for 2 miles @ 4.0 @ 1%, then did the bike for ten minutes on a higher (harder) setting, then did some free-weights and stretches. Cam, your comment about not having any "new" miles was right on too! So, since I am at a point in MfM where it's NOT time to add new miles, I will add other things: speed, incline, new exercises. Thank you so much for last night. It was a great pep talk.

And BTW, may I just say this out loud.....Cam & I are going to see Kenny Chesney! WHOOOOO HOOOOOOO!
 :yay: :cheer2:  :bounce: :jumping1: :cheer2:

Kim - Don't you dare leave us!

I'm not so sure if I could get her drunk enough to agree to it again.

MikeOptimator - No, YOUR posts get the "spit my drink on the computer laughing" award! :lmao:

Stephanie - A "Lipstick Stop"?? Now I've heard it all!

Kevin - Yay! Glad you had a good break. :thumbsup2

And the next time I even consider whining, I am going to think of Mist!
Cam - Ohhh, how sweet of you..:goodvibes

I don't know all of you, although I've met many of you at Marathon Weekends. Of course, my recollections consist largely of 'that red-hair guy', 'the lady who passed out', or 'danger-prone Christa', but I'll get better
Jeff - :welcome: from "the lady who passed out". I'm very happy to see you here! I don't have that particular issue that you have, but Charlie does. He's taken to using medical tape.

Steve - We'd like to think that all this "jogbra and running skirts talk" keeps you gentlemen enlightened. :rolleyes1

KristiRed - PD for March 23, April 20 & possibly April 21!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Sunny - YAY for AppleFest! :woohoo: I was thinking about you this morning. I don't think you realize how inspirational you are to us. I know you are to me. You have had to deal with so many issues, yet you keep going. You really are one heck of a strong woman! I'm glad I got to meet you last month even if it was for only 30 seconds.

Total drive by...

Just wanted to be sure and say Welcome Jeff!!!!!! OMG, a man who quotes Little Mermaind. What a guy! :-D

Angie - Ummmm....I use my vacation for marathon/WDW. I was down there once in 04, but I hope to never have a trip like that again. Dad needed a triple bypass. :scared1: All's well and he's part of my inspiration to get fit again and 1/3 of my marathon scream team. I don't see myself making it down there with my limited vacation time, though.

Sunny -- YAY!!!! I am so glad you have a wonderful race on your agenda to look forward to.

Judy -- Glad to know the encouragement helped. It always helps me to say that stuff out loud so that I remind myself of what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. Plus, we don't want any of our fellow WISHers feeling unmotivated, do we? ;)

Colleen -- Have a great trip!

Tiff -- YAY for getting outside for a wog! :cool1:

Kristi-- thanks for the alert on those dates. I'll be sure to keep my cell phone turned on! :rotfl:

Krista - please listen to your body, sweetie! If you think your quad may be signaling a new inflammation of the IT band, please dial back. Don't you have any old videos of Hines (W) that you could just sit back and relax and watch? Maybe you could just think about him or look at his picture and do some stretching for all that gazing time! ;) Seriously, it is just 9.5 weeks to the Pig and you don't want to derail your training with an injury that you can anticipate and prevent. Sending pixiedust: and :goodvibes:

Jackie -- your training sounds great, but if you are doing 2 miles every night with the furbaby, maybe you could dial back on the number and duration of your TM workouts. :) Kudos to you for wanting to do all that, but again, don't overdo and completely derail yourself -- that is totally frustrating. Take it from all of us who have been there. :rolleyes1

So, where is Dave? Hopefully princess: didn't wear him out at tae kwan do and he's still recovering! :rotfl: Hi, Dave!

Ooooh, Kim is going to have a Disney race report for us between the Minnie and Marathon Weekend. Thank you so much, Kim, for being willing to take on that mission. Oh, and while you're at it, you can keep us all motivated with your training reports as you lead up to RFTT. Did I mention I am jealous that you are going to get that really cool medal? Maybe next year, when Howard is done grad school, we can go after that one! :yay:

Okay, as Judy mentioned, we may soon be ranking up there with Kristi as most avid fans (like my diplomatic way of putting that, Kristi?) OMG!! we are going to see Kenny Chesney!!!! (and Sugarland and Brooks and Dunn and Sara Evans and someone else ;) ) (where is the drooling smilie?) Oh, my! I may just have to put a picture of Mr. Chesney on my snack cabinet door to keep me out of there. popcorn:: I just have this thing for blue eyed guys, I guess.

Umm, I don't think we can compare my Goos to Kenny. :confused3 ;)
Country? BLECH!
I am an ABC girl - anything but country.
(insert a million ;) s here - I love you guys - just teasing you!)

Hey Team... I haven't done anything since Monday. Partly from stress, but mostly because I am injured!! :scared1: Does anyone have experience with this? My foot hurts, on the top near the ankle (not not the ankle itself). It actually started hurting lightly the week before the marathon. The foot swelled slightly during the race, but nothing big. The pain went away the next day. I haven't been running THAT much, but after my stonker run on Monday, now it really hurts to the point of limping sometimes.

I am wearing my crocs today (came in the mail yesterday), and that seems to help a little. I have iced it, used ibuprophin, have rested it, nothing helps. Do I need to stretch something? Have I over exerted something? I'm lost and frankly it frustrates me!

So anyhoo, we are in the waking hours of a winter storm. It will start hitting us tonight through Friday. Another 10 plus inches predicted. I am supposed to travel tomorrow by car. It's a 4 hour drive and not sure what's up with it. So this snow on top of the 10 we got last weekend... YIKES!!! No outside running for me... good thing I am injured!

Jeff - WELCOME!!! All I can say is that your green shirt was so wonderful to see in Epcot. I was getting anxious in that last mile and seeing you standing there made me happy. I said to myself... Another WISHER!!! Yah!!! Good luck with that personal issue...:upsidedow

Krista - Oh please don't be injured again. I hope you don't have IT issues!!! Take it easy!

Judy - I had those issues with respecting the miles too. Then I travelled a lot for work after the marathon and it all came to light. Yes I ran 13 miles, but 1 month of light running doesn't keep me at that same level. I am glad you are back on track. Way to go CAM! I need some inspirational calls... any takers?? hee hee :scared:

Cam - Where are you going to that concert?? Last night we were watching a Reba re-run with the girls (they like her) and DH mentioned that I saw Reba in concert (I chimed in twice)... they were so cute because they couldn't understand how I would see her singing if she was in a TV show. :lmao:

Colleen - have a great time at the World. I am super jealous. We are lucky to get there once a year. I HAVE to move closer.

Sunny - WTG on Applefest. I have yet to actually mail in my 1/2 registration for May. I need a kick.

OK, I guess I better get to work. I should be off of work tomorrow and Friday, but with the pending storm I am not sure.

Umm, I don't think we can compare my Goos to Kenny. :confused3 ;)
Country? BLECH!
I am an ABC girl - anything but country.

Oh Kristi, I think I speak for both Cam and I when I say we don't mind that you think like that at all. You know what it means? MORE KENNY FOR US!

P.S. I thought "ABC" meant "Already been chewed"

Thank you all for wanting me to stay...such kind words.

Sorry I missed welcoming Jeff.....WELCOME!!!!

Cam that is a neat looking medal isn't it!!

Jen feel better soon!!!!

Bummer, client just came in have to cut this short.

Kim

Bill, do you have that baby room ready yet?

Ummmmm...well first it was decided to redo Billy's room, then after rearranging everything around the house that was finally completed. Now the new room is almost cleaned out and it has been requested that I paint it before putting furniture in. So hopefully that will be done this weekend, before we leave for the race. Although I have been getting a little more pressure since the big date is a little over a month away.

I think I have determined that I need to take a week of vacation just so I can do things around the house to get caught up. Although it doesn't help much that I have a business trip coming up soon that will get me away for a little while.

Bill

:lmao: :cool1: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Judy -- I showed the "eye candy" er .... I mean "pictures" you sent me to my secretary and her jaw dropped.

Getting back to training, uhmmm, let's see, how to turn this around? Oh, I know! :rolleyes1 After my 3 5Ks and the Minnie, my next motivating factor will be getting fit enough to dance and jump up and down for 6 hours or so at the concert! Will that count for cross-training? :dance3:

Judy and Cam--my dIL's saw Kenny Chesney and Brooks and Dunn NYE in Nashville and LOVED hte concert. Have a blast!

Jen--PD for your foot!:wizard: If it's not getting better with ice, rest and ibu, I would have a pod. look at it--just to be safe. EEKK on the winter storm. I have an aunt flying down from Milwaukee tomorrow to be partof my support team this weekend--Hope she doesn't have any flight issues!

Jeff--Welcome! :yay:

Well, got 3 "easy" miles in on the TM while DD was at gymnastics. My mental state is really not good now--I was on the treadmill at a 1/2 mile and thought ot myself--I have to do 52 1/2miles on Sunday!--So then the next thought was "WTH am I doing! Why did I sign up to do this??" I reallly need to chill out, I know--and it's only Wed! I'm going to say Thanks in advance for helping me not go off the deep end in the next 3 days! Well, lunch is over--gotta go! Have a great Hump Day everyone!

Oh Kristi, I think I speak for both Cam and I when I say we don't mind that you think like that at all. You know what it means? MORE KENNY FOR US!
And more Johnny for me! :woohoo:

When is your show? My friend Stacey (who happens to run too) is a huge country fan & she is going to be so jealous of you guys!

And I was thinking that I should get both of you to come with me to the GGDs show at Villanova in April. But that could be dangerous. I brought my friend Kristi to a show this past summer and now she claims Johnny is her 'rock husband.' I don't need any more competition! :rotfl:

P.S. I thought "ABC" meant "Already been chewed"
:lmao: I forgot about that! ABC gum! :lmao:

I am definately skipping my 3 miles or xt today. My knee has been bothering me today. Nothing major, just a bit. I don't think it's wise to push it.

And I guessed I missed something...Sunny signed up for Applefest already? I have to go back a re-read...

Jen - I'm with Stephanie, I think you should maybe have a podiatrist look at it. If it has been bothering you since the marathon, a visit to the good dr. would probably put your mind at ease.

Thank you everyone for the kind welcome!

Boy, Mel is right - this group does a lot of posting from their desks during the workday (including me right now!). I'm sure your I.T. guys love that :surfweb:

Angie/Cam - thanks for the Body Glide advice! and Cam, yes, I do like Heroes, but it's getting too complicated for my little mind! By the way - those are great split times...you rock.

Optimator (and others) - Thanks for the welcome!

Bill/Steve/Jim - I will try bandaids and also the BodyGlide to see what works best. BandAids seems like an easy one to try first. Jim, I'll lookout for the waterproof med tape, is it expensive?

Matt - a tight shirt probably would negate the need for bandaids & such; I just have to work up the nerve to wear a tight shirt!

Kristi - yes, you CAN participate in a bleeding-nipples discussion...but we don't want our friendly forum Moderator to work too hard, y'know.:sad2:

TiffJ - Me wearing Mel's running bra? Don't see that happening; She's still trying to come to terms with me occasionally wearing her bras on my head, y'know, like a Viking helmet.

Have a healthy day everyone.

Jeff

Now, that I would LOVE to see!!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
