Wk of Feb 25--WISH Walking/Running Club

Does anyone have experience with this? My foot hurts, on the top near the ankle (not not the ankle itself). It actually started hurting lightly the week before the marathon. The foot swelled slightly during the race, but nothing big. The pain went away the next day. I haven't been running THAT much, but after my stonker run on Monday, now it really hurts to the point of limping sometimes.

Hey Jen, I'm having EXACTLY the same thing with my right foot, in the same place. It really hurts when I tilt my foot up. It's been going on since Saturday, and I can't tell what brought it on. I don't think I've dropped anything on my foot, but it sure feels like I did.

Just a few folks I missed earlier:

Craig - I'll check out the UnderArmour tops, thanx!

TXBelle - Thx for the kind words... Mel is always my inspiration.

Krista - thx for the welcome, and don't worry about the list getting too girl-talk oriented. Remember that I live with 4 females (one being very furry and full of bark), so I am used to it.

Judy/Carrie/Stephanie/Kim - Thanks for the welcome!

- Jeff

. . . and Cam, yes, I do like Heroes, but it's getting too complicated for my little mind! By the way - those are great split times...you rock.

Jeff -- I know what you mean about Heroes -- my DS13 has to point out details to me and remind me of previous events to tie it all together. Reading the Heroes thread on the community forum here, as well as reviewing the episodes on the NBC.com website really helps. I tell myself that any show that requires this much thought and attention to detail doesn't count as "braninless tv" time! :lmao:

Oh, and you had me :rotfl: when you complimented my "splits"! Thank you very kindly, sir, but you may have noticed I did that on the elliptical! Doesn't quite count the same as :cool1: running outside or even on the TM, KWIM? Oh, well, I just look back to when I couldn't manage 3 minutes on the elliptical and thought it was a major accomplishment to get to 5 minutes and I thank God for progress!

TiffJ - Me wearing Mel's running bra? Don't see that happening; She's still trying to come to terms with me occasionally wearing her bras on my head, y'know, like a Viking helmet.

Have a healthy day everyone.

Jeff

Been watching Weird Science, have ya? :rotfl:

Just a little drive by posting for Jeff...

1. Thanks for the idea! Maybe I'll try your new fashion statement the next time I go to a Vikings game (we're always looking for something to try to help that team win).

2. Do NOT use the little round band-aids that are nipple-sized. They are not nipple-sized because they are good for using on the nippies. In fact, it hurts A LOT to take those particular ones off. Just a warning...

WELCOME TO THE GROUP!
Ashley

Jeff - :lmao: Careful, mel might take away your WISH priveleges. :p

Jeff & Jen - last year, when the top of my foot hurt after marathon, it was a stress fracture. Ice, Ibuprofen and light on the running. She x-rayed me, though. Please get it checked. Also, could you be tying your shoes too tight?

Christy - Great job on the TM. I can't believe you have to stop for mommy intervention - I refuse to acknowledge anything else, but I'm lucky that DD is 16 now. My only real distraction is the dog!

:rotfl: :rotfl: Both my 5 year old and my 3 year old were having some stomach issues:sick: I did make my older son wait 3 1/2 mins until I finished (so I did not have to stop 3 times):rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

CamThanks I really do feel great!!

Carrie I would be your DREAM partner-I am a great slacker!!

Angie Glad you hear your knee is feeling better! I am kicking myself that I am not doing the 5k on Saturday, but now DH is working so there is no way I can do it. You are totally right, the more we push the more we can do!

Colleen I hope you guys have a great trip! The weather has been great down here!

Christa I hope some new shoes help!!

Jen That sounds painful, I hope you can figure out the cause SOON!

Sorry to anyone that I missed!

Todays training is 30 mins of cross training. Wednesdays are busy at our house, so I need to squeeze it in somewhere!!

I did get to Curves this a.m. And then proceeded to run around like a crazy person. 4th grade had a field trip today & I had to cart coolers with lunches for over 75 kids to the field trip & back to school. DS had fun though.

Krista-it is like 75 here today:sunny: Come on down!!!

Jeff- Cute visual!:rotfl2: DS calls my bra "overalls" :rolleyes1 You can balance out me, I live in a house with 4 males (including the dog)

Kristi-get some sleep girl!

Judy-definately respect those miles. Last year after doing the 1/2 I did the Minnie and although I trained it still kicked my booty! Get those steps in:thumbsup2

Colleen-have a great trip! I actually enjoy subbing way more than I thought I would. Plus it keeps DH off my back about going back to work now that Seth has started kindergarten.

Bill-GET TO WORK!!! What if that baby comes early? My 2nd one was 10 days early so you need to get it done so Lynnda doesnt have to worry about it.:)

Susan-good luck getting your spot in the Peachtree RR. I would love to do that one year (I'm from ATL & grew up with my mom doing that race) You are going to be doing some hill work, right? Have you heard about Cardiac Hill?

Sunny:yay: for Applefest

Jen-could it be tendonitis? I have that in both ankles that acts up from time to time. When it started bothering me really bad they sent me for a MRI to make sure I did'nt have a stress fracture. :wizard: for getting better!

I'm working tomorrow & its supposed to be really stormy so I am hoping to get something in after school.

Oh, let me re-phrase. My foot hurt before the marathon, but stopped hurting after. It just started re-hurting again last week. I am leaving town tomorrow for a retreat which will be sitting on my butt a lot. I may do some swimming since there is a pool at the hotel. I won't run since there is no health club and we are getting piled with snow so no outside. I will rest/ice/ibu it while I am gone and see what happens. If it still hurts this bad next week, I will be off to the doctor! If it's not one thing, it's another. Oh and I picked up a pair of ear plugs for swimming so I don't get another ear infection. I only have the problem with one ear!

Thanks for all the replies. It was much appreciated! We have free Wi-Fi at the hotel so I am bringing my work laptop. I will try to check while I am gone. I will spend 4 days in crocs or fuzzy lime green slippers!!!!

Jeff - The first thing I did was try to figure out if I dropped something on it or tripped over something. I might be a clutz, but I couldn't come up with anything!!! I hope yours feels better! Oh and my DH lives with all females, 2 DD's and 2 furry ones. I wonder if the fish are female??

Just a quick drive-by training report: I was able to get outside today for a 3.5 mile run. It was absolutely beautiful out!! I only wish it would stay around 50 and not get colder...doubt that will happen. Anyhow, I finished in 33:11 with an average pace of 9:26. I am so psyched about my workout. This is my best time for 3.5 miles, and a great pace for me. Maybe the beautiful weather had something to do with it!!

Sorry, I don't have more time to catch up with everyone, I am doing a presentation at a conference on Friday morning and I need to get my stuff together.

Cam and Judy---Where is that concert at???? I love Kenny Chesney and Sugarland, and since I am in NJ, between both of you...it may be in my area! I would love to see that show!!

Although it doesn't help much that I have a business trip coming up soon that will get me away for a little while.

Bill

Yes, those business trips really throw a loop into things at our house too! All the best to you, Lynnda and my buddy, Billy!

Cam and Judy---Where is that concert at???? I love Kenny Chesney and Sugarland, and since I am in NJ, between both of you...it may be in my area! I would love to see that show!!

Laurie -- It is in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field, where the Eagles play. Tickets go on sale Saturday but I had a password to buy today on a pre-sale for VIP fan club. If you want the link and the code, please PM me. Hopefully there are still decent tickets left.

How cool it would be to have a mini WISH meet there! :cool1:  :yay: :woohoo:

Bill/Steve/Jim - I will try bandaids and also the BodyGlide to see what works best. BandAids seems like an easy one to try first. Jim, I'll lookout for the waterproof med tape, is it expensive?

Jeff

It's just a couple of bucks for a full roll. It does not take off any skin when you remove it. It will pull hair so make sure you shave first!!

Hi, honey :wave2:

We've just finished DD4's bday extravaganza. And I did my last run before the half this weekend. Love those 30 min runs on taper weeks! Weather's looking good. I never thought I'd be happy about a cold front coming through, but we're expecting one this weekend so the race start will likely be in the 50s. Looks like a good day to run!

Melissa...I did find CoolMax fabric but only available to manufacturers. Did you know there are 3 different types of CoolMax? Anyway, I can register and get a tax ID so I can buy wholesale, but don't know how much a minimum order would be. I did find athletic mesh fabric at Spandexworld.com, but don't know if it wicks. I've requested some samples.

One last post before our trip to New Orleans. I got my LR, 55 minutes, in after work today. And it was OUTSIDE!!!!! We had temps in the 40s and sunny. I had to watch out for the mud puddles but it was worth it.

Jim: :welcome: Loved the topic. I never realized this was such a problem. Here I thought bouncing was painful; but nothing like this. I did giggle at some of the responses. Keep those topics coming!

I will most certainly have a handful of tums with me for the culinary history walking tour. As Craig said, my version of a pub crawl. Someone else recommended I drink lots of water and take very small tastes. Well, I'll let you know.

Judy: I know you will be ready for the Minnie! I have every faith in you. I'm sending lots of :goodvibes to you!

That's it. I'm outta here! I hope everyone has a great weekend and great workouts!

Mel - Do you have to be specifically a manufacturer, or can any business with a federal tax ID buy it? I have the tax ID for our company and could purchase the fabric if that is possible. Let me know cuz I sew also and would get some for myself.

I am officially resting my foot. I did some checks and I think it is my tendon. Also, DH reminded me that my foot hurt somewhere else before the marathon, not this same spot. HMMM..

OK, we are expecting 20 inches of snow so I am not sure how my travels will be tomorrow. I am taking the computer and hope to log in while I am gone. I will let you all know if I can!!

Hi everyone :yay:

I start my new job tomorrow so I won't be able to check in during the day from now on

I finished my finals for this course and start my next course tomorrow so I will likely be scare around these parts. I will try to keep up and check in when I can :goodvibes

We are expecting more bad weather again this weekend  WISHing that spring comes soon as a new walking/running trail was finished at the end of the season last year and I can't wait to give it a try.

My best to everyone :grouphug:
