Wk of Feb 10th-- WISH Walking/Running Club

Good morning WISH team.

There are storms heading accross the country right now, I know you New Englanders need some more snow. Everyone stay warm.

Dave

Carrie- for me I do not think TM season will be over till the week of Minnie. I want the snow gone but I have a felling that is not going tot happen any time soon.

Aloha Jeff- How on earth did you find that video? It was fun to see but you must really have had to dig through youtube to find it.

As for me I did not do much this past weekend just due to some school stuff that I needed to get done. But I did get 18 miles and just under two hours in. I started the younger Wish thread to try to draw some of our younger members out of lurkdom but am still waiting to see if it fails. As you can see I am still posting over here more than I have in the past three years. Well I should go hit the bike.

Good Morning TEAM!!! I'm a newbie and do not post over here regularly--mainly just because it is so hard to keep up with everyone. I do lurk quite a bit just to see what's going on...

I just wanted to chim in w/ my 2 cent with everything that's been going on...

I tend to get stressed out easily and put alot of pressure on myself... I have to constantly remind myself of 2 things...

NO WORRIES

RELAX

I think as a TEAM, we should all take these two sayings into account. It seems everyone is now getting a long a little better and we have just experienced growing pains...

At the end of the day, we are a TEAM. We are all striving toward the same goal--to be healthier, happier people. No matter if we are just starting out and training for our first 5K or if we are Goofy or Triathalon training, we still all have the same goal--to be healthier. It doesn't matter if our shirts are little bit of a different shade of lime green or not. We are still a team. I don't think anyone would intentionally try to be ugly to someone or hurt another's feelings. I'm glad to see that everything is now starting to calm down.

I'm so happy to have found this thread 6 months ago. The support from my journal and those on this board really helped get me to my first 5K. I know the same will happen for others. I get support from my family and friends, but not like this. To have others working towards the same goals as you is awesome. I really think everyone on here has a really good heart and it shows. Thanks to all y'all who have put in kind words along the way!

Happy training everyone!

Kristi

Thanks for the invitation. Unfortunately by April 6 my longer runs will probably be 8-9 miles. Stepping into a half marathon with that base would make for 9 fun and 4 totally miserable miles, and I had enough misery on January 13. If you go for it good luck. Regarding the hills, remember it makes you a better person  .

Sara

I didn't get to talk with you much at the marathon finish, but I wanted to let you know that seeing you on the out and back did a lot for me mentally. By that point I was really struggling, as always, and seeing you continue to fight the condititions and fatigue was what I needed to find another gear. Thanks.

Craig

Wow... I know I've been gone for a while... but to be honest I was a little shocked while reading this thread. Drama is BAD!! :goodvibes I actually just popped in to see wether anyone had heard from or about Susie since the Tornados.

 Thanks Craig. I'm not about the bling or the speed but simply about the memories so your kind words mean a lot. So happy to offer a little inspiration when so many of us needed a bit that day when the conditions were less than optimal for 26.2 miles:thumbsup2 .

Hi guys.

Do you mind if I join in? I've been a long time lurker but haven't really had the nerve to post very much. I'll be doing the Minnie w/my cousin Christy in May and hopefully we'll also be doing the EE 5K. Even though I don't post very much I do read here often and I wanted to say that I appreciate all the motivation you guys give me.

Erin - Shhhhhh...DOn't tell me that (TM 'til Minnie) You're right of course, but I don't want to think about it. While my first reaction to separate threads is weariness, it is an easier place to jump in when you are with people of your own age group. I hope that it will eventually bring poeple here more, but if it makes people who won't post oterhewise, post, then it's all good! Hope it works well!

Sara - Good to see you here! I don't care if your posts are all about you! I'd rather have that than nothing! I know it's hard to keep up with everyone. NO one would hold that against you!

Ugh, I knew I forgot soemthing..

Welcoem CHeryl!!! Look forward to learning more about you and your training!

Welcome :welcome; Cheryl - glad to have you!!

Jeff - I think the best part of that video is knowing who the Race Director is, and get quotes to use to ask him to PLEASE< pretty please with pixied dust on it - have enough medals for every runner AT THE FINISH line on the DAY of the race!!

Vic I am glad you are on the mend. Can't keep a good man down...right!! I am working my way back. As long as I don't look down, I am good LOL. So I will run with my head held high today!!! :snooty:

lol. SOunds liek an illness I need to catch. I am awful about looking down!

Glad you're both doing better!

Good morning, team, not much to report, just popping in to say hi.
I'm glad that all of our issues are getting resolved, like other people have said , I think it's due to our team getting bigger and that's a good problem to have. :)

NE Bill--It's all good. :thumbsup2

WW Dave--I LOVE the Miles/Hour challenge, this game is honestly the only motivation that is keeping me going right now. I can't really have goals like everyone else, like weight loss, getting stronger, etc, but my goal is simply to keep moving throughout the next few months and to keep from getting too fat. :rotfl:

Vic--Oh my gosh, that burger looks fabulous! You know the only thing I am craving now is beef.

Amy--How is your arm/shoulder today? Make sure you get some rest. Oh, and get that bike repair kit ASAP, I don't want to have to google the street you're on, map out how to get there and come and rescue you too! ;)

Scott--See above!

Erin--You are a biking machine! I think your thread for younger people is a good idea, I sure wish I would have been as active as you when I was in college. I hope you get a lot people posting on there. By the way, what's your major?

Thanks for the update on Melissa R. I'm so relieved to know that she and Phil and the boy are okay. I wish she would come back and post on here again, I really miss her!

Debra--I just want to apologize to you, I'm pretty sure I've been spelling your name Deborah and as I person who always gets her name misspelled, I am SO sorry!!! :flower3:

Angie--Woo-Hoo on your 5 mile run!!! But PLEASE be careful and don't push too hard!

Sara--How is your hip feeling? Any better?

Cheryl--:welcome:

Kristi--Good luck training for your half!!! I know what you mean about being sad that our team is starting to break into smaller groups. But all that means is that we are going to have to try harder to post on the thread in addition to the sub threads. Oh, I thought of you this morning, I heard your boys on the radio on my way into work. :)

Okay, now an update on me, like I said not too much to report on the training front, but I'm planning on 3 or 4 miles on the TM tonight. Hopefully I'll get to Gold's tomorrow night and get an hour on the bike in. I say hopefully because the white death is coming tonight and according to some people, that will shut the city down.

Krista

Hey everyone,

I'm mostly a lurker. I wanted to say you all have been such an inspiration to me. I love to read all your posts and if not for this board I would not have signed up for the Disneyland 1/2.

I did 5 miles on the TM Saturday. That is the most I have ever done. Last year I was doing some walking and made it to 4 miles a couple of times. I am following Marathoning For Mortals.

Now an odd question. What do you think of while you are running?? I have not had one profound thought:rotfl: I am training on the TM until spring so I spend alot of the time looking at the display. My thoughts mostly seem to be about my form and how long until I switch from walking to running. I also try and keep myself looking up, instead of at the display (not always successful). I have a garage door opener that is an indoor substitute for the horizon:laughing:

Michelle - Thansk fro coming out of lurkdom! Hmm.. If I'm on teh TM, I am usually thinkking "How much longer until I can get off." If I am outside, I am thinking of how not to kill dh fro running away from me. ;) I need to start concentrating on form, though. Don't worry, your deep thgouths will come with longer runs.

Just popping in to say hi - man this thread moves WAY to fast. I think that may be why alot of people are breaking off into smaller groups. It is alot to go through on this main thread. There is NO way I can keep up with everyone and I don't want anyone to think I left them out on purpose (its just I have a very bad memory when it comes to remembering what I just read and who to attribute it too!!) Though I am glad to see the mood better this week then last week - LOL

As far as me - I had a 5k race yesterday and I didn't think I did that well. My legs were killing me - tightening up really bad. There were a few times throughout the race that I questioned my sanity on signing up for the marathon in Jan - if I am dying in a 3 mile race what is going to happen in a 26 mile race :scared1: - although I am planning on being way better trained then I am right now. My legs actually start feeling better after 3 miles (I remember the calves tightening up in the 1st mile of the TOT13k now that I think of it) I did end up finishing the race (though many times I felt like quitting) my time was 35:18 and I came in ahead of about 30 people (I was 201 and I think there was a total of 233) so at least I didn't quit and I wasn't DLF.
