Okay, somehow I missed Cecilia's post about the pace band and can't find it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

i leave friday morning -- how awesome is this group. i regret not having the time to get to know everyone more. looking forward to meeting everyone though.

my thoughts and prayers to those who are fighting illness and Kevin an extra hug for you. some might think it's more crazy to be disappointed that you will not be able to foot 26.2 miles, but we understand. as everyone has said nothing is more important than your health.

i came on to print out a packing list, glad i took the time to read and try to absorb all --- i too may ditch my WISH shirt it was scratchy! i have a lime green bandana somehow i'll tie on myself. i'm be the dorky gal taking pictures everywhere :) Mom and I will be walking at a 15 min mile pace, not sure what corral we'll start but i'll look for other lime green folks

relax ---- recover -- destress -- as John Bingham says this is the FUN day! the work is done!

speaking of John Bingham, forgive the Mom moment but i have always meant to share this photo of my daughter with the Penguin at the finish line at the Columbus 1/2 in April 2006.

I can't focus at all at work today. I'm supposed to be reading/critiquing a grant application and I'm just thinking about the upcoming race. I did 30 min on the elliptical today. I think I may not do any running this week before the race and just do some x-training. I would like to get my shins totally healed up. There's still the smallest amount of soreness left in them - although it could be phantom pain for all I know.

Let's see as far as taper issues go. Yeah, I've been kind of antsy and irritable lately. So much so, my DW once said "so how's that taper going?" Which I responded by walking out of the house without saying anything. Then I got to thinking in the car when I was running errands. I used to always be antsy, cranky, and irritable before I started running this year. How I am at taper is how I was all the time. The running has been really good for me mood-wise. It's helped me lose weight, boosted my self-confidence, boosted my self-esteem, given me more energy - hey, all those things they say it's supposed to do in the doctor's office. It was kind of a breakthrough for me to realize that.

This trip to WDW will be such a reward for a year of hard work for me.

Cool realization Dave!!!!

I have so much to catch up and so little brain power with which to do it. Ugh!

ohMom, GREAT picture!!
Dave, you have truly EARNED this trip....ENJOY!!!
:goodvibes

Me too, Dave. I keep popping in here to check on what everyone else is up to, is there anything else I need to do or think about or.....:scared1:

Hey, guys, I bumped up a thread from last January where people reviewed what they did right and wrong. Just in case you are looking for something to read this fair January afternoon. :)

Oh count me in! I sit here home sick today but group encouragement is something I need! I am planning to do the 3 Day Breast Cancer walk in Boston August 3-5 2007, and the Disneyland Half Marathon in September 2007 and I need to stay motivated!!

DF (the man who disturbingly needs no running motivation at all) bought me a nano iPod, a Nike + unit, some new Nike shoes and a funky hat with speakers built in for the iPod. Does anyone use these? Let me know how you like it!

Suzie

I'm just popping in to wish all of you the best of luck this weekend. It seems like just yesterday we were all getting ready for the '06 races. I will be back with you all in "08. Good luck and have fun!

I haven't posted on this thread in recent memory, been about a year. But I just wanted to wish everyone GOOD LUCK this weekend. You are an incredible bunch of people, and you will all do great this weekend!!! I am deteremined to be there with you all in 2008, hoped to be there this year, but had some things that came up this year and just couldn't do it.

So, safe travels to everyone, and I can't wait to hear everyone's results next week!

Hi everyone!

Cam is right, I don't drink enough water. This was proven this time last year when I was in the Emergency Room with a kidney stone the size of a gum ball. I was determined to run the Half and did (with a stent in place) and later had the stone pulverized and the stent taken out two weeks after the race. The stent caused frequent stops at the "facilities" along the course, despite these frequent stops, I finished the race in 2:15:56 for a 10:17 overall pace.

I can't drink like a :fish:. I am of the mind set that I eat when I am hungry and drink when I am thirsty. Today, she has given me the proper motivation to drink water in copius amounts :rolleyes1 . I downed 8 - 12 oz. cups of water at work and another pint of water this afternoon. Unfortunately my body isn't quite used to all this hydration.:confused3 I will keep up the hydration saturation the rest of the week into the weekend. I am keeping good track of it all so I can reap the benefits on the road and with my motivator.

for a 4:00 marathon here is where I need to be:
5 miles - 45:46
10 miles - 1:31:32
HM - 2:00:00
20 miles - 3:03:04
Finish - 4:00:00
THis makes it toooooo real!

LOTS OF PD TO EVERYONE!

I am hoping to run a 2:30 Half and a 4:30 Marathon so I will be behind you. If I'm lucky, I'll reach the 5 mile mark in 51:29 - almost 6 minutes behind you. by the time I reach the half way point, it should be around 2:15 (15 minutes faster than my goal for the half on Saturday).

Good Luck with keeping the pace! If I had trained fully for this endeavor, I might have set the 4:00 goal for the marathon. At this point, I just want to finish both, collect my bling and enjoy the WORLD for a few days.

Best of luck, safe travels, see you at the FINISH LINE!!!!

Krista - Yes your mom can fly with her inhaler. Tho, last month when I flew the security guy was cranky and yelled at me because I didn't have it in the quart sized bag for liquids. I guess I didn't think my "prescription" inhaler was considered a liquid! So tell her to put it in her quart sized plasitc bag just to be safe from cranky security men!!!!

OK, work was pure H*LL!! And tomorrow is likely to be worse. By the time these 2 days are over, I will have definately earned my trip. I get the feeling that I will be getting calls while I am there tho!!! Things have been just nuts. I think the worse part is that I get home for 2 days and then turn around and go for another 4 days for a convention. I know I will be way behind by the time this month is done!!!

Dave, thanks for your Scream Team Thread. My DH is freaking about where to see me along the course and this is helping him decide. With 2 little girls and his parents, it's hard to cruise along the course to find me. I told him if he misses me at one, head to the next. Plus I am sure someone from WISH will see me and scream.... Won't you?? So far I think I will be wearing my sleeveless WISH shirt and black tights. The people at the Y say I am really bright!!!

OK, gotta clean out the fish tank and pack!!! Then I have to log into work and get some things done!! YIKES.... so much to do!!

Just had a though for those flying into MCO--double check before taking those gels in your carry on. Since they are not a toiletry, I am not certain if you can take them on board or not.

You might--but I can't remember. And just wanted to alert you (I didn't think of it until now!) just in case since the last thing they have on property is your personal favorite power gel, gu, or whatever.

Ok, I've got a question. Just how much do we need to be drinking this week? I'm kind of like Howard - I usually drink when I'm thirsty and I know that this will not cut it this week. However 8 - 12 oz. cups of water a day? I'd be floating down the mighty Mississippi at that rate. :lmao: I'm laughing but I guess that is how much we need to drink. Right?

For all those fighting colds and flu-like symptoms or just now getting over something, those with injuries - :grouphug: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

For those not joining us this year but next - thanks for the well wishes. :goodvibes We'll be rooting for you next year! :cool1:
