Good Morning TEAM:
I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, advice, and encouragement after my 20 mile stonker run on Saturday. I really appreciate it, and you've already helped me deal with it, put it behind me, and get ready for my next week of training. Yesterday was a rest/recovery day for me. I did a 30 min soak in a cold bath, iced my legs a couple of times, and took a nap. My calfs are still a little tight and sore - so I'm planning on doing a SWOG (deep water run) today to give myself 2 full days to recover from the 20 miler before doing another run.
I wanted to try to catch up with my teammates, and believe me I'm thinking of all of you (even if I don't happen to catch you in my reply).
Amy- I hope your appointment at the doctors gives you some good news today. I'm so sorry to hear that you think your marathon dream may be slipping away. Hang in there!
Jodi- I wanted to WISH you PD

for your injuries too. Keep it up, we're almost there. And as far as the PT goes, they showed me lots of stretches and exercises when I was there over the summer. I'm not that impressed with what you are reporting about your PT.
Judy- I wanted to WISH you all the best for Mist's trial. I hope it turns around soon!
Cam- WTG on your 20 miler followed up by a 5K!!! You rock girl! I hope
Howard is doing OK with trying to burn the candle at both ends.
Krista- Thanks so much for your kind words about my 20 miler. I do feel better now, and proud that I finished 20 miles - even though the last 5 were at a walk. When I came in the door, my DW was sitting there and gave me a huge cheer that made me feel so good. You're right, it is an accomplishment. How 'bout them Steelers!!! Can't wait to beat up on the Brownies this week.
Steve- Awesome job on your 20 miler! Are you back home now?
Mel/Chimera- I don't have much advice about pace.
Craig, as always, had some sage advice. In fact, I wonder if that was part of my trouble on my 20 miler - running to fast during my 4 min run sections. My first 10 miles were in the 10:20-10:30 mpm range (with 4R/1W intervals), and I wonder if that was just too fast and my knee stiffened up at mile 15 because of it. I would listen to Craig and not run faster during your running section. Maybe, if anything, try running for 5 or 6 min and walking 1.
Christa- Thanks for the encouragement. I must admit, when my 20 mile run stunk on Saturday, I had wondered if I had really gotten in over my head with this marathon. I'm so glad to have my teammates to "buck" me up. Now, you guys better be right!!! Great job on your run! Maybe instead of the "evil queen" you should be renamed the light, fast, young queen.
MelR- Great job on your 9 miler. Frozen hair??? How does that even happen?
Kristi- There's a huge billboard here in Rochester for the Goo Goo Dolls saying they are playing at some Casino in Niagara this month. I thought of you, and then saw that there was a sold out sign posted on the bill board.
Cecilia- I must admit, I have to agree it sounds strange not to take any gels or anything during your LR or marathon. That's a new one to me, and not consistent with the books I've read.
Carrie and
Kevin- how are all the Michiganders dealing with UofM having to "settle" for the Rose Bowl? Actually, the prospect of losing to Ohio St twice was not appealing to me at all, and I'm kind of excited of playing USC in the Rose Bowl. That's a good, classic match up.
OK, I'm going to sneak my SWOG in now here at the University pool, and then work through lunch. I'll catch up more later.
